I do think it makes sense to spend a couple grand on merch to get people talking about the hardware in development. But the cringe stuff really should be retired fast. It doesn't work. It's an over the top real life version of the Buschemi how are you doing fellow kids meme. You'd think a company who spent 80 billion to end up becoming third part would use all of that marvelous (hehe) AI tech to figure this out by now.

Microsoft fell fat on their face this gen in a big way but I still have a soft spot for the IPs. Always willing to give them another chance but its on them if they continue to shit the bed.

I have no expectations either way.

Just a bit of hopium. :)

Nothing wrong with that. Think plenty of Xbox fans feel that way. Hopeful, but also realistic with a healthy dose of skepticism considering the state of things at Microsoft and Xbox. I've said multiple times that I think a healthy Xbox console is needed and good for the industry. But the last thing Xbox needs is more gaslighting.

She's using the exact same playbook as her predecessors. They all failed.

This time, they will probably fail the hardest if the starting price for Helix is $1,000+. All evidence points to zero price flexibility for the Helix; Microsoft seem to be in "No more losses" mode for Xbox hardware.

In a weird way, what we're going to witness over the next 24+ months -- with the usual shills, usual empty partnerships, usual overpromising and underdelivering etc. -- is the fanboy fog around Xbox finally dissipating. Unless something out of this world happens, Helix will follow the ROG Xbox Ally X straight to the grave.

I avoided Steam for as long as I could. Part of it was over the CS server I played on decided to shut down over Source. I admit, I was stupidly stubborn and wrong. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Like what does it really accomplish? Is MS going to steam roll Sony because "LeftHandBanger69" gets a hoodie? ( idk his real name but I'm probably close)

From one angle this just seems like some low ball milquetoast effort to drum up a bit of excitement.

There could be a negative side to this however, just how we've seen play out elsewhere. Take the whole Disney Star Wars effort. They got into deep relationships with their "influencer" crowd. Those-who-have-not-been-paid as they'd tell you, but they did get free flights, hotels, gift packs, exclusive access, premier showings and more critically time with the creative leadership. They got time to lend their thoughts and in the case of Disney Star Wars it was to tell them how amazing Acolyte was, how they were doing a stellar job, and how there's a nasty group out there that want nothing more than to destroy them.

Who knows how much sway this has on production choices really, but the net result is pretty much anywhere you see these swag bagging shills, you get shit products that don't align with the wider potential fanbase.

What Xbox needs right now is to be facing the hard road of figuring out what their product should be going forward, that means having tough conversations, and listening to those they've let down and those who don't care, in order to figure out how to change that.

They do not need to be listening to people who just want to suck dick for a hoodie.

it's costa innit. They burn everything. My local drive-thru used to have a bunch of really good baristas that'd pull the perfect cappuccino. Now it's full of people who don't wash out the jugs so whenever they steam milk, they're just topping up milk that's been steamed over and over and over and over again, scorched to shit. I used to get around this by asking for whole milk as a dietary issue and they eventually just ignored that, pouring muh milk straight into the jug they just used for the 5 previous lattes. Oh and there's one guy there that only does 3 expresso shots for large drinks instead of the normal 4, and the last coffee he did for me, he reused the coffee grounds. Haven't been back in 6 months and even got very british about it and wrote a letter lol.

But god fuck asking for a dry a dry capo and getting a boiling cup of hot milk that tastes like shit with no foam.

I have been given a lot of Xbox and PS "swag" over the years and literally the only thing I have ever worn have been some of the hats going back to the 360 days

That said I honestly don't hate this hoodie either and doesn't have obnoxious Xbox or Playstation plastered all over is

Really should have cleaned house and got rid of Booty and Greenberg. I have a feeling Asha is getting bad advice from old dogs who can't learn new tricks. And it isn't like she is a seasoned executive.
 
I make fun of these guys and the Xbox strategy to use them but I am willing to admit I would totally rock that hoodie.
