Anyway...from a corporate Vox perspective, this seems to me a pretty clear-cut case of "better safe than sorry" as far as his termination.

They might as well cut ties with this individual just from a purely brand preservation perspective. Hell, it's not like getting someone like him (minus the deviancy, hopefully) to fill his "role" would be THAT difficult.

I don't remember ever consciously reading anything he wrote or hearing his name before and couldn't find any examples of his articles when I did a cursory Google search (all the results were about this controversy).

Why did people like him before this came to light? Was it all published on Polygon (which I confess I don't read very often unless linked to)?

He's a video editor, not a writer. He's in a lot of Polygon's incredibly popular YouTube videos.

He did a whole lot of video collaborating with Griffin McElroy. Not as much journalism as much as humor and playthroughs.

yeah it's uh

in the literal sense I think it is nsfw, but it really isn't.

But this thread took a turn

It really is.
Some workplaces are more strict than others and some have a pretty clear policy in looking at anything that can be construed as even a lil bit lewd.
Without warning, might as well post that as an image link while superbest is at it.
e: And I know workplaces in France that would push for disciplinary charges on employees viewing this.
Don't fucking do this.

Look up Touch the Skyrim on Youtube. It's mainly a Griffin series, but Nick's also in all the episodes. Really fucking sucks too, I loved that series.

Is a pair of breasts in a bra really nsfw for you people

Americans are weird.

If you take "NSFW" to mean porn, then no, most people wouldn't call it that. If you take it literally (as-in, you will get reprimanded for looking at it while at work) then yeah, I'd be surprised if many employers anywhere would be cool with that.

What's ironic (don't ya think) is that this is kind of a microcosm of some of the posted text pics where things went from zero to 60 in the blink of an eye for no real reason.

If you are on GAF during work hours you should get in trouble anyway.

That said, wtf is going on

Super Beast is being not so subtle in using some burner account/fake account to get a thread closed so it won't be on the front page anymore.

Mods should just ban and remove links.

It's certainly sketchy, and possibly illegal under a stalking law, but it's not illegal sexual harassment, as defined by most statutes, as it did not occur in a workplace common to both the harasser and harassed.

Regardless, the similarities are obvious, the risk easily understood, and the behavior could constitute a fireable offense.

Why do these threads always take such crazy turns?
It's more like the most boring turn possible.

They came in making an argument with no real connection to the topic (consensual conversations are consensual!) and then... "proved" it by sending pics without consent.

Why? I'm on GAF at work all the time.

You've never taken a 5-minute break in between hours of work to derp around on the Internet? GAF is basically the only site I visit on the Internet these days (for non-work), so GAF it is.

Anyway, I expect this'll get locked any minute now...

Seeing as how this is a png file, am I free to assume that this isn't proof that superbest isn't an alt?

I get the impression they're trying to stifle discussion and get the thread shut down. Getting huge KiA alt vibes given they haven't posted for years and are trying to silence women who don't like sexual harassment.

Oh my god, the horror, a woman in her bra. I have never seen that before. Jeez... I've seen worse in a television commercial on network television.

I thought it was pretty funny. The guy who was responding to her continually ridiculed her and she dunked on the other poster. Harmless fun.

A thread about a creepy man asking for nudes from his fans results in one poster posting lewds.
I probably have seen stranger things happen in threads but none coming to mind right now.

Make gaffer kept mansplaining a female gaffer because her opinion didn't fit the narrative and then she ethered him with a lewd?

Female gaffer said other female gaffer was a burner account and other gaffer posted a picture to prove she wasn't a burner.

There's concern that the content of the photo was entirely inappropriate for this topic.

And this is all I'm posting on the topic.

True, it was a huge derail to say "sometimes men and women have consensual sexual conversations!" like no duh but what does that have to do with harassment?

Reading is a good thing.

Like how you didn't read my question mark? I'm not following this thread super closely anymore because it's gotten stupid.

I mean, y'know, better it happen right before a time they'd be discussing where they're heading for the near future than right after, I guess.

Oh definitely. Literally the best possible time for a...somewhat popular internet personality to be outed for sexual harassment.

This whole situation, man.

They can take their sweet time but seriously I expect some things from Vox media from this shitshow.
This is so far from ok it's not even funny.

Oh yeah, this needs a statement Monday at the very least.

Outside of the super crazy people in this thread, I just can't believe there are people in this thread that don't think he will get fired.

He's a huge liability now. I know I personally won't be going to Polygon if they keep him around.

I want to say something to get the thread back on track, but I can't even think of anything that needs to be said. The only hope is or someone to pop in and accuse GAF of witch hunts or complain that the evidence is vague so the thread can resume its previous course.

Like, this seems like such a simple situation. The guy was a harasser who used his position. It was an open secret. The secret came out. He got suspended, he's probably going to get fired. I don't think this is an ambiguous or extraordinarily complex situation - at least from a reader's perspective.
