Nintendo Downloads - March 2013

All of their real consoles launch that way. Why not the virtual ones?

'Cause no other platform on the Virtual Console has ever launched exclusive to a region for more than a month, other than the MSX, which is still exclusive to Japan. And the GBA is a bigger deal than the MSX.

Edit: Neo Geo was exclusive for a month, if I recall.

Any news on Denpa 2 getting localized soon? Having an absolute blast with the first right now.

They said that it would be localized way back in October, so I'd imagine that it can't be too far away.

I bet we both get nothing. Equality in the West man. Earthbound being NA hasn't stopped Nintendo from never porting it to anything.
The fact that EB/Mother 2 never released on the JP VC before this promotion gives me hope that it can finally be released in NA as well. Only reason it isn't in the promotion for NA is that the game will definitely sell for $8 here - the game has nowhere near the amount of demand in Japan as it does in North America. NoA will want to get as much money as possible for one of their most wanted games.

If it does get skipped over outside of Japan then I will flip

Yeaaaah! I've already sunk 8 hours into Denpa 1 and I'm only half way through. Pretty good!

Eh, by that sort of logic we should have got the games a long time ago just because they didn't remove Ness/Lucas from SSB.

I do hope Genius Sonority gets a chance to work on a retail project again though. I enjoyed their Pokemon RPGs on the Gamecube. Or at least work on a downloadable Dragon Quest game.

Does anyone know what happened to the demo for Runner 2? I checked the eShop for it this morning and didn't see it there anymore.

I'm seriously scared by the amount of ratings games are getting on the 3DS eShop. There are games that got well over 100.000 ratings. And many of them have over 10.000 ratings.

One question: do eShop charts count DSiWare downloads from only eShop or from eShop + DSiWare store from DSi / DSi XL?

So do you think we've got a million seller on the eShop? Has something like Pokemon Dream Radar or Pushmo reached that point yet?

Edit: Some indie news. Nintendo Life is revealing another Wii U eShop game this week.

Terra Incognita will hit the Wii U at £3500. It only has £800 to go, and everyone who backs it (even at £1) will get the game on every platform that it comes out on. So go to it!

I have no clue on DSiWare sadly. :/

Can it be rated through the DSi Shop even? I know WiiWare is rated through the Nintendo Channel, but I don't think DSi has an equivalent?

Well, we already knew some things on eShop have been downloaded more than a million time, back in June (numbers updated to April, 2012). Five, more precisely:

Netflix
Nintendo Video
Pokedex 3DS
Swapnote
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure 25th Anniversary

All free items

And I'd love to see these statistics updated, especially with datas about the best selling not free games / apps.

And back in June, we had also these statistics

http://www.shacknews.com/article/74233/nintendo-reveals-eshop-usage-stats#

Among those who buy any games, Nintendo claims that users go on to buy an average of 4.7 games using the eShop.

Given the percentages of users who connected their 3DS at least once actually greatly increased with the installed base (from 70 to over 80%), I'm wondering how much the digital tie ratio increased. Especially after August, when retail titles started being released.

Having looked at the ratings for those free games, I found that about 5-10% of the downloads were represented by ratings or so. Of course that's a silly way to get an idea of sales, but it is at least a measure of just how few people rate the games they've played, free or otherwise.

Oh, and I just got into three different hosted matches of ATV Wild Ride 3D in a row. Only one had three players in it, but t'was fun, despite my terribleness.

How good are the mechanics of ATV? I'm leaning towards a purchase.

There is a lot of emphasis on tricks. In order to gain boosts you have to do tricks in the air which take up some amount of time. You can't repeat tricks or you don't get the boost associated with it. Usually there are about 8 tricks per set (while holding L, while holding R, and then while holding both and pointing in a direction while in the air). The trick is to remember which moves you did most recently and which ones take up enough time to finish before you land.

The issue is that certain jumps, if you "leap" on them will just about guarantee you to crash into the mountain or out of bounds. Part of the skill is to know when to risk big jumps and when to keep on racing. This is especially the case when playing in reverse tracks, where once large jumps can become not so large backwards.

It's real neat, but you'll find yourself flying around if you don't know how to react to certain terrain.

Just a small correction: you can't repeat a trick during the same lap. When the lap starts over it clears out so you can do them again.

Ah. I thought it was that after doing another trick it clears the old trick back. That might explain a couple issues of mine. :x

Also, there needs to be a call-out time for online play. As awesome as catching random people online is, I'd like to see myself fail in a 4-player match sometime :p

It looks like this has just resulted in lots of £1 pledges, though not anywhere close to enough to push the total over £3500. I really hope he makes it, as I think Indie projects like this need to carve out a niche on the Wii U. I'll back him a bit if it looks like he's gonna miss the stretch goal only by a small margin.

I've beaten 3 stages in Splash or Crash/Kersploosh with the doll and still didn't unlock the final stone. Fuck me, after well 3 the difficulty ramps up way too much for a 5 hit KO. :( Stage 2 is easy as fuck to avoid everything though. Might even be possible with the drip, if that one didn't get so fast even without boost donuts.

edit: okay, well 7 was pretty easy with the doll too. Now I've got everything.

Any kind soul able to round-up not only ALL confirmed Wii U eShop games, but a separate list of all that are pending, such as kickstarter goals and such? Must be a fuckton.

Actually, leave the confirmed list to me and add any I miss, just get the pending list.

The problem I have with this is that while I would donate if I knew I'd get a Wii U version of it...

1) I don't have any indication/guarantee that I'd get a North American download code later.

2) If I donated and he DIDN'T hit the goal, then I don't get the Wii U version -and- I'm out cash for something I don't want.

Am I wrong about this?

The -goal- will be reached. The "stretch goal" adding a Wii U port probably won't be.

Donating now means your donation will go through, but unless the "extra" stretch goal is reached, you wouldn't get the bonus.

I don't think you can retract pledges after the Kickstarter ends...

Ah, thanks. I did manage to finish a couple levels with the doll, so maybe I will manage it at some point.

Edit: I got it by beating wells 1, 2, and 7 with the matryoshka doll. So it's definitely not finishing five wells.

The only stone I'm still missing in Kersploosh! is the plate (or so I would assume, since it's the only one from the trailer that I don't already have). Does anyone know how to unlock it?

I'm not sure about the exact criteria, but I know when I got it, I used the jewel on well 5 (I think) and finished with 1 hp (doubt this mattered) . I also unlocked the wooden fish, so no clue as to what did what.

Yeah, I have a similar problem with Kickstarter so you generally have to be careful of which projects to back. I remember The Pinball Arcade's Twilight Zone Kickstarter advertising that I'd be able to pick up the 3DS download code but the 3DS version still hasn't been released. Would have sucked if I trusted them enough to donate for the 3DS version. Their Star Trek Kickstarter finally admitted they couldn't guarantee the 3DS version so I'm glad I dodged a bullet there.

Random spreadsheet updates...

SNES R-Type III is indeed gone -- but I think someone pointed that out recently. Does anyone know -when- it was removed from the NOA Wii Shop?
