Backed up this one since 3 years ago. Especially last 6 months performance doubled for AMD graphics card users (like me). Also I am using these as starting parameters.

-novr -skipcrowds -pthreads 4

novr disables vr detection.
skipcrowds , well .. skips crowds :)
pthreads physics threads default is 2, you can 1,2,4 . Max is 4.

There also these which I never tried.

Launch 32bit -x86
DirectX 9 -dx9
Frame rate limiter -fpscap 60

Thanks for this, I had to limit my framerate to 30fps, but I finally got it running smoothly, which means it is now at least playable until something comes from AMD.

Is there a FPS Cap option for launch settings? New to PC stuff (well returning after many years).

Is it just me or there is no way to see the track map of the location in Solo Mode?
Like all i have is Art work, Name, Turns, Length, there is no map....

I only got about 10 mins to test the game out on my PS4, but I can at at least confirm my Fanatec GT3 RS v2 wheel, pedals and shifter all work. Not sure about how good the FF is yet as I didn't get a chance to really play with the settings and test it, but everything at least works. Even the gear indicator on the display is accurate.
Though for anyone with a Fanatec, you must make sure you are on the latest firmware. Not such a big deal for those who use their wheel on a PC, but if your coming off a PS3 there was no real reason to upgrade in the past. At least with the GT3,the game would not run with the old firmware installed given Project Cars uses the PC derived drivers.

I really like it so far other than the force feedback issues, if I get those sorted I will be a very happy bunny.

Well i didnt realize that my GMG code allowed me to play it right now. Thought being in the
US meant i had to wait until the 12th. Oh well, its unlocked now. Realized this right before i have to go to work.

The sim racing community is filled with angry entitled children.
The weird thing about the sim racing community is, what other genre can boast such a high standard across all available titles? Yes, AC, pCars, SCE, rF2, RRRE and iRacing all have their foibles, be it AI, graphics, online, FFB or whatever, but each and every negative a sim racing title has is overshone by a plethora of positives.

There are some dreadful RTSes, awful FPSes, terrible sports games, abhorrent RPGs and obnoxious action games, but racing sims? There's not a bad one out there and we should be grateful to this tiny group of developers who produce such high quality works.

just started playing on PC with a 360 controller. Left all the settings at default for now.

Kart racing starts off badly - hate the first couple of tracks, too bumpy and windy for my liking. But Chesterfield is lovely and flows better.

Still trying to figure out which camera to use. Helmet cam seems 'dramatic' but everything is blurry. Looks like it is the default steering wheel cam position though which is nice. I think it is between the steering wheel view, and the slightly further back central view - next to the driver's head.

The FFB is terrible in this game. How did so many people play for so long without complaining bitterly every single day about it?

For a start the wheel (the very popular and common T500RS) goes crazy in menus. MENUS. Then when you get to the game almost all the FFB effects are missing. The wheel only does something when you run over a curb. Lock the breakes... No feeling. Spin the wheels.. No feeling. Turn at 20kms is the same feeling as turning at 200kms with high downforce. So pathetic.

Wheel feel is crucial in racing games, how could they mess up like this and how did the community let them?

Backers == fail.

Oh and I cant start the career because I can't enter my name... God this is fail. Good game in there but right now... Fail.

This is surprising to hear. I was too busy yesterday and wasn't able to play.

I'm a very early backer and even last year we were giving input that the FFB wasn't up to par. We kept telling them to look at Assetto Corsa for how feedback should be.

I agree completely! I support any dev that is set to deliver a good racing sim.

The FFB was only really worked on in the last 6 months (no point working on the FFB before the physics are done) so it was normal for the FFB to be crappy up until 6months ago. It almost changed overnight on my TX once they started working on it. Went from complete shit to amazing.

I'm really impressed by the standard X360 controller setup. The steering is very precise and sensitive. I think that's what you call deadzone? I only have to barely tilt either left or right and the car starts to turn. But it still feels precise for corners that demand more turning.

Yeah, I know I shouldn't be using a controller for this type of game. But that's just me...

I have to agree that the FFB is pretty weak in this game. I don't get much feeling to the road compared to AC or even GT6.

Go to the Controls Settings, then Calibrate FFB and increase the first slider at the top (I think it's Tire Force?) to something between 130 and 150. That's the only setting I change with the FFB.

Look, this game does deserve a bashing. Especially when they have announced pCars 2 while launching an unfinished and clearly untested game.

BUT... Awesome awaits. There is greatness in this game, just like driveclub it needs time and dev support. And perhaps a round of firing. Seriously, this game WAS NOT TESTED. The wheel moves on its own in menus, you sometimes cant even start a career and right now my PS4 is threatening to turn itself off because of its power settings as it the game is not telling it I am playing. Oh and then there is the car collision physics... and the time my car started a race while doing donuts in the dirt..

And SONY, where are you on this? Where is your strict QA?

Final Build Latest Patch PS4 Impressions:

I've played about 5+ Hours worth of Career mode and I honestly think this game has the best physics out of any car game I've played including Forza's, Gran Turismo's etc. The Caterham and SuperKarts are incredible and the challenge of driving competitively in the wet with 16+ Cars is REAL!

This game feels like it has a better real time physics simulation going on under the hood than anything I've played on console before, including GT5/6 which I personally consider to have a more realistic feel than Forza.

Come into the corners too hot and this game will punish you! However if you've just gone over the limit of traction you can usually adjust your driving line, tap the brake and/or double pump the accelerator and recover. It took some time to click but the simulation here is sublime.

The Career mode feels like its going to be very meaty, I've only completed like three (maybe 4) Championships and a few invitationals and I've used only maybe 5 or 6 cars out of the entire roster. I usually skip practice go straight into qualification and then get on with the Championship at hand. Again I've barely touched the tracklist and or car roster while playing the Career mode as Championships are with one car and can take a while.

Overall this game is rocking. I am not a hardcore racing guy, I don't have a wheel, although would love one. I am only playing the game on intermediate difficulty but I think anyone who has played and enjoyed Forza or Gran Turismo should get something out of this game. Give yourself time with the controls and take it easy the first few laps and work on increasing your speed slow as you do successive laps. Solid 8-9 out 10.

PSN is ridiculously slow these past few days. 2.752 GB/3.833 (54 minutes left) done and it took like more than hour. So rest 16GB will take a day or so I guess. Might as well waited tomorrow for retail release.

Well my first 2 hours with the game last night where spent trying to get my view spot on. Shame you can't do it on the fly whilst in a race. But yeah, really liking what I've played so far.

Yep, I love the way the cars feel in this. They might have less cars but every one feels very distinct and that to me is way more important.

I don't think Sony's certification process goes into that much depth.

Took me 40mins to download the lot.

It's not Sony's job to QA the game.

Also you're the only person I've seen so far with any of those issues so maybe there's a problem somewhere else with your setup.

@amd_roy @AMDRadeon @projectcarsgame I hope you do because right now the performance is pretty poor TBH

@Nyteshade517 @AMDRadeon @projectcarsgame it's artificial.

I asked him to explain his comment so I'll see if he answers. It seems like he's saying the NVIDIA cards were given an artificial advantage which if true would go against everything SMS said about "not favoring" one company over another.

This game is bloody incredible, exactly what a console sim-racer should be.

Can't believe the complaints about the AI, it's not perfect but so far it's by far the best racing AI I have ever played against in a video game and it's not even close.

PSN is just slow when it comes to new releases. I think it's the their upload capacity that's severely lacking.

^ Yeah that's a great point and one I actually forgot to mention. The cars all feel absolutely unique and its far from subtle. Its not just a horsepower thing either, its their entire feel, turn-in response, weight shifting, its quite worth mentioning. I jumped into a Pagani in free mode briefly and the power is so incredible that I had to really feather the throttle in lower gears or I would just have the car all out of shape.

Oh and the sound, my god the sound! Its honestly in a class of its own. I was thinking to myself early that this is 'Battlefield' quality sound design in a racing game. I read someone describing it as porn for your ears. Its funny but also quite true.

Just spotted a little error in the OT.

The publisher is Slightly Mad Studios and Bandai Namco Games is the distributor.

From the FAQ:

Q: Who is publishing Project CARS?
A: Project CARS is self-published by Slightly Mad Studios and distributed by Bandai Namco Games.

Will start playing asap :)

Yep also agree with this! The AI isn't perfect and its most frustrating when they don't give you room when you have the line, but they are aggressive, imperfect and just generally move around the track more like you would expect real human opponents too. Far better than just overtaking cars in a stock standard procession like GT or Forza.

Semantical thing, but they have not announced pCARS 2. They have acknowledged that there will be on for us backers and that it's pre-production will and should start at some point after the launch. That's how game development works and it's something that we will all eventually benefit from. This game will still be supported for a longtime and there are some major things coming for it.

BUT... Awesome awaits. There is greatness in this game, just like driveclub it needs time and dev support. And perhaps a round of firing. Seriously, this game WAS NOT TESTED. The wheel problem is something I already saw fixed before the release for the D1P so it's weird it's still there, but at least they've acknowledged it and a fix should be coming. The collisions aren't that good even though they've been iterating them for multiple times (I haven't had any major bugs though), but it's something they've once again acknowledged, but I haven't seen them promise any improvements yet.

That's weird; AMD has been on the forum for a long time and I remember them already working together with the dev team to fix some AMD specific issues (I'm not totally sure on this though, it happened a long time ago). There have been many AMD specific performance optimizations that I've benefitted from multiple times during the project so I'd call bullshit on the "articial" stuff.

Whats the best way to report bugs / issues with the console versions?.

Don't like the sliders, particularly the AI slider, only working in 10% increments.

I keep checking out awesome PC gameplay videos while waiting for my XB1 version to unlock next week; it's like browsing the advertisement pictures on a fast food menu while being acutely aware that the product you'll be getting might be assembled with the same ingredients, but won't look nearly as appetizing.

Alright! My copy arrived!

Time to get some quick laps in!

Anyone have any recommendations for a car/track combination to really highlight the game?

I was looking into getting a wheel and found a 360 wireless wheel on Craigslist for $10. Couldn't hurt to try it out.

Anyone have experience with this? I don't have CARS yet, but in Shift 2 (which doesn't directly support it) it has a very large dead zone even with deadzone at 0%. Is that what I can expect from games that don't support it directly?

Still, it's better than playing with a controller.

How is the performance on PC? Is G-Sync working with the game?
No clue about g sync, but on my i5 3570k and 670 at 1080p, with certain stuff on ultra and a lot on high, I'm getting anywhere from the mid 60s to 80s regularly in fps. It runs better than I expected. Looks gorgeous.

DON'T DO IT! That 360 wireless wheel is garbage, seriously. You will be better off with a pad.

The perfect entry-level wheel is the Driving Force GT. Good feedback, full 900 degree rotation. The pedals aren't great but as an overall package for the money, can't beat it.
