PS Vita TV JP Import Thread | There's still a life after OLED

Heya Vita TV Gaf,

I've just come back from a Holiday in Singapore and managed to snag a Vita TV for the awesome price of $100. Just looking into setting it up now, wondering which region would be best to set it up to.

I'm leaning towards Hong Kong, I've checked the PSN store for it, and seems to have most of the stuff I would want in English there. Plus Play Asia stocks the PSN cards for it.

Just checking before I do, are there any advantages to going with a Japanese account? I'm guessing no, but do any of the games on there (talking more PSP and PS one classics) have English options? Looking at the Hong Kong store most games are offered in both, again I'm assuming no for Japan, but just though it would be worth checking before I did anything.

If you want English games, Hong Kong or Singapore seems like a surer bet.

I am from Singapore so I can attest that just about every English game is available. Not sure about vita TV compatibility of said English games though.

English titles as in language wise on the JPSN is a big nope pretty much. So unless you want to play games in Japanese dont set up a JPSN account. Sounds like you already got what you need with the HK PSN.

Cheers, HK will be the way I go then, one last question, is it worth getting a Dualshock 4 for it or will I be fine enough using the Dualshock 3?

Just use the DS3.

Also if you do insist on getting a DS4 for it, you might want to check how "if it works" it handles the whole problem with no select and start buttons. I havent bothered to look that up as dont really see the need for using a DS4.

Cool DS3 it will be, I knew that one I bought when I was trying to get my PSPGo to work on the TV would come in handy one day

How's everyone's experience with remote play on the Vita TV going? I've tried doing a direct connection with the ps4 and also through my router, but the lag for both of them make actually playing anything kinda impossible. I'm wondering if it's just my setup or a problem with the way it's been implemented.

At least the dualshock 4 implementation is pretty nice; the touch pad works as an on screen pointer and the share and options buttons take the place of start and select for those worried about it.

It still to this very day freaks me out that my Vita TV turns itself on every once in a while. Seen it do that about 5 times now in the past few hours. Thankfully its perfectly harmless to the system as its not like there is some sort of mini HD that keeps spinning up every time it goes on. Though out of the corner of my eye seeing the white power light flash on then blink out is unsettling lol Gonna turn into some HAL shit I just know.

I still haven't gotten around to trying it out, but I just found out that a couple of weeks ago Joysound got an update to allow the usage of a USB hub for two mics. woo-hoo!

They also made some pretty substantial updates to the song list over the past couple of months (though the PS3 and Wii U's list is still superior).

I'm going to try and take it on myself to make a list of US region games that work on the Vita TV, since there doesn't seem to be a list. I'm using data from all partial lists and my own experience with the console. I need at least two sources for confirmed.

Confirmed to work
- Persona 4 Golden (EU version doesn't work?)
- Dragon's Crown
- Muramasa Rebirth
- Rayman Origins (EU version doesn't work)
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
- Lumines Electronic Symphony
- Valhalla Knights 3

Confirmed Not To Work
- Dangan Ronpa 1
- Final Fantasy X HD
- The Walking Dead
- Rayman Legends
- Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward
- Uncharted
- Gravity Rush
- Ys: Memories of Celceta
- Disgaea 3 (EU also doesn't work)
- Soul Sacrifice
- A lot of others

May Work/Conflicting Reports
- F1 2011
- Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland
- Dungeon Hunter Alliance

Bought one of these in HK. :) I am presuming I cant use a uk psn account still?

Hi you cant use your uk account yet! wait until the uk ps tv gets released or do this

i found out if you sign in with a HK account then link you vita tv to the ps4.

Then once that done logout of your HK account on ps4 and turn off the vita tv, then go in to your uk account on ps4 once signed in, turn on your vita tv and click remote play (still with your uk account on ps4) the vita tv will login to your uk account on ps4 and now you can play ps4 games on ur vita tv (without having to login to ur uk account on vita tv)

this is what I'm doing until uk servers get turned on and the ps tv gets released once this happens I'm going to download the uk firmware and install it to my vita tv :)

i hope this help a bit.

So since they added Dualshock 4 compatibility, are you able to play Vita games with it? How about PSP games?

and are all PSP games compatible with the PS Vita TV? I have various GTA titles so hope it works with the Playstation TV when it's released.

Sorry to bump an old thread. Bought one for my pal back in the states, will the plug be safe for him to put in a wall/power strip or does he need an adapter for it since its a japanese plug?

Yes, it's 100-240v, so the US 110v in will be fine.

Hmm, I may as well post in this thread, too. Does anyone know if the Wii U Pro to PS3 Mayflash adapter works with the Vita TV? Or I guess another way to put this question is, can PS3 controllers work through direct USB connection rather than Bluetooth?

With the western launch weeks away and the new Vita firmware out, someone that owns a JP Vita TV should see if the PSN lock has vanished.

I really hope going forward that they continue to patch some games to work with the Playstation/Vita TV. I'm getting a US one on launch day, and while I'll be excited to finally play a few games I've wanted to try on the Vita/PSP...there are still quite a few omissions that I really hope get added.

For some reason, dummy me was convinced I saw Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth1 on the compatible list of games...but then after I ordered it on amazon, I realized it's not compatible with Vita tv =/

My question is has anyone played a vita game on the big screen and how awful the upscaling is? I plan on buying FFX for the Vita since I got 1-9 on PSN and need X to complete the collection.

I was hoping the upscaling isn't too bad but based on some youtube video's and eurogamer articles, it upscales twice, once to 544p and then to 720p. That sounds awful.

I can't say because I haven't seen one in person yet, but I mean, from some of those youtube videos I've seen (granted, they're youtube videos), the quality looked not too shabby considering the source resolution. That could just be me though, because I'm not nearly as picky.

On the topic of resolutions, I've been wondering, under what circumstances can the Vita TV output 1080i? Can it do so with native Vita games, or only in certain apps like the video player? I imagine the almost exactly double scaling of 1080i might reduce scaling artifacts a bit (especially on a 1080p screen).

Yeah, I've managed to get into my EU account on it now.

Do we have a EU compatibility list yet? Saw the US one but never saw a EU one mentioned.
