How many of those being used as landfill in NZ?
Hail to the King baby!

Playstation 4 still going strong, and with the big JRPG push we're seeing, I hope the Japanese market too starts adopting it in droves in a year or so.
The PS2 sold about 22 million in Japan. I'll be reserved and say I'd be okay if the PS4 could snatch anywhere between 10 and 12 million during its lifetime.
If the PS4 hits 10 million in Japan that would be absolutely incredible...
With Dragon Quest X/XI/Heroes + Final Fantasy XV and FFVII Remake, I'm not worried about PS4's futur in Japan.

The aussie ps4s have 220-240v power supplies so im presuming the Xboxes must be the same
Yeah I guess so, forgot about them, with them being remasters, not that they will be bad though. I was just thinking more bigger / new exclusive games. Xbox has Forza 6, Halo 5, Tomb Raider, Fable Legends while Sony has most of their bigger games coming next year now, so there are not a lot of big exclusives for Xmas.
Not that it will make much difference as they still selling PS4's like mad but a few more bigger exclusive games for Xmas would have been nice, The Last Guardian and No Mans Sky would have filled the gap while we wait for Uncharted 4, that's all I'm saying.
I'm worried about the future of dedicated video game devices/hardware in Japan.

Yep I agree. XOne has a much better lineup of games for this holiday, but Sony has the biggest third party games (SW,COD,AC,Destiny) and we saw how B:AK sold extremely well (it's 8th right now even tho it has been released long time ago) so if Sony bundled all of these games it's going to be a very tight race I think.
I was not trying to start a list war, I was generally curious. Sorry.
Maybe now it's time to release some actual games for the damn thing.
Absolutely no idea how & why this is happening, but I'm glad Sony have a hit on their hands.

Jesus, incredible numbers for just one quarter. No pricedrop anytime soon I'm guessing, so I hope nobody's holding out for one.

Sony as a whole seems to be doing fantastic. Hard to believe a few years ago they were selling buildings and bleeding red ink.
Nice numbers. Now put some money into psn and your OS team.
They've been struggling with growing the pictures division for the last year, and it's not going to be a easy fix. Lack of any tentpole hits and the mediocre performance of ASM2 is hurting them. Add to the fact that they're losing the Bond license (literally to kill for), and that it still remains to be seen by how much the new Spidey reboot will reverse their fortunes. They're in dire need of a profitable franchise.
Summer Lesson and Miku.Morpheus + Summer Lesson etc. = WIN!!
PS4 has sold 1 million over the past 12 months. Where is it going to suddenly find another 1 million in the next 5 months?
Someone's getting a bit overexcited.
Struggling to grow <> not turning a profit. They had a ton of profitable films last year:
The Equalizer - $190m ($55)
Spiderman - $720m ($255)
22 Jump Street - $330m ($65m)
Fury - $210m ($68m)
Annie - $133m ($65)
Chappie - $100m ($50m)
Mall Cop - $100m ($30m)
Sex Tape - $125m ($40)
They have Spectre, Resident Evil and Hotel Transylvania 2 this year which previous entries where very profitable.
I agree in the sense that they need to secure some new long term franchise heavy hitters. But I suppose that's where Tom Rothman comes in.
Mall Cop made $100m?????
I can't...I just can't.
Let's try to analyse the shipment v.s. the numbers we have
Apr-June WW shipment - 3,000,000
IIRC, so far PS4 saw around 34% of its sales coming from US, correct? In that case
Apr-June WW sold-through - 2,035,294
US - 692,000 (NPD)
Japan - 175,964 (Media Create)
Europe/ROTW - 1,167,330 (estimate based on US numbers + current US share of overall PS4 sales)
In that case, there would be almost 965,000 units on the shelves.
Who is? Gamesradar? That looks like a plain-spoken and informative tweet to me.

I'd rather they put that money into PS1 & PS2 emulators.
PSN & the OS work fine for me, but I want those classics on PS4.
I hope all your predictions of a big drop for PS4 are wrong! I know you do too so fingers crossed we can enjoy the continued success of PS4 for a long time.ITS FUCKING AMAZING!
I was only expecting less than 2.5m this quarter.
People have bad taste.
Just look at any Media Create or NPD thread. Gamers have bad taste too.
PS4 is beating PS2 LTD wise, but it isn't "on track" to beat end of life PS2 sales. In fact, it's looking they will cross streams next year.
Shipped? So what. What about sold to customers?! (Not retail.)
Always good to read about healthy numbers.
Curious if at this point in its life the PS2 had a pricecut already.

Your name is amazingThat's quite something. 30 million units sold at the end of CY 2015 is a no-brainer.
