I just learned that the map menu looks like a brochure, Earthbound guide style. I love this so much.

Post game (extra world) guesses :
Boring - Galaxy Kingdom because you know Rosalina will somehow appear in this game.
Surprise - Donkey Kong Island.

Subcon/2D world could be sweet

I'm holding out hope for the beanbean kingdom tho. That'd be some reeeal weird shit

Does Pauline being in this game means she will join the Mario familia in other games like Mario Kart, Golf, Tennis, etc?

Does this mean Xenoblade 2 is their november title?

Seems like the November Switch lineup will be:

Zelda DLC 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Rocket League
Skyrim
Rayman Lagends
Payday 2
Sonic Forces

That plus Fire Emblem Warriors (presumably) and Mario Odyssey in October will be more then enough for the Switch to have a big holiday.

That trailer was amazing and watching the staff at Giant Bomb react to it was so awesome. Going full on media blackout on this til release!!

Alright kids.

THE VIDEO IS UP!

10 glorious minutes of Mario Odyssey parkour and ninja-like movement.

I tried to address everything in the commentary of the video. Let me know on here if you have any questions.

Wow, thanks so much for this video. In most of the gameplay videos thus far I've had a hard time gauging how the movement feels/controls in Odyssey compared to other 3D Marios, and this video allayed pretty much all of my concerns. It looks like a big step up from the gimped movement of 3D World and even the Galaxy series. Not quite back to the fluidity and insane options of Mario 64, of course, but still probably the biggest toolset for speedrunning in a 3D Mario in quite some time. Excellent.

I just played it at the Nintendo World store. Awesome stuff.

I picked New Donk City and I tried to go for areas I hadn't seen in videos. There is so much to do, so many fun little details.

Okay so the demo is at there too (I'm in London so none for me).

Is the demo time restricted to 10 minutes (programmed) or the Nintendo reps move you on after 10 minutes?

Do you think that Nintendo will release the demo on the eShop?

One thing I noticed is that, this time around, they actively reversed the recent trend of nintendo games: there's almost nothing in the way that interrupts gameplay.
You take a minor moon? You can go on.
Cappy says something? No need to stop for that.
You die? 5 seconds and you're back in.
You get a major moon? No need to exit the level (like the previous mario games in this style).
Very nice.

(considerations made from watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJLKRs2MBug, which I watched cause it's direct feed)

You know what sold me on this game more than anything else I've seen so far?

When the Treehouse demonstrator jumped off the side of one of the maps, and some totally unexpected shit occurs immediately thereafter.

THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE
is Super Mario 64 as fuck. When I saw this, it took me right back to when I was a kid, jumping through that suspicious basement wall and finding myself in a Shifting Sand Land.
Honestly, don't watch it if you don't wanna spoil yourself on a moment that's on par with discovering Shifty Sand Lands, jumping into Big Boo's Haunt, and draining the moat in Super Mario 64.
Just know that this game is bringing that shit.

I hope this game is chock full of this kind of thing.

Did you check out the sewers? I know you can go down there but I haven't heard anyone actually do it.

I would have liked to find that when I play the game. Surprise ruined!

Oh yeah, there's a sand whirlpool in the quicksand section of the ruins. Considering that that whole area is quicksand, the whirlpool is suspicious and I believe jumping into it will lead to a secret area. Will someone please test this out?

Well, I guess Nintendo decided to answer this. GAF slacking.

I've been avoiding new gameplay details like the plague. In fact, I haven't seen a single power up yet, which is fine by me.

Edit: or maybe there are no power ups, and all you get is possession.

Nice, the director just confirmed that the Wooded Kingdom is actually a giant greenhouse that's growing the flowers that will be used in Bowser's wedding ceremony. And he added that every kingdom in the game will be tied to the wedding in some way. We also know that the Sand Kingdom's Inverted Pyramid houses a legendary wedding ring; legends say that two people united by the ring are impossible to separate, even if the world turns upside-down. Harriet of the Broodals is looking for the ring in the Sand Kingdom.

They also just possessed a Fire Bro in the Wooded Kingdom, throwing bouncing fireballs everywhere. Also, the Fire Bros can't walk — they can only hop, similar to how they move in the other games.

Cappy says something? No need to stop for that.

this should always be the case in games, and it's a big deal.

It was the same with fludd in super mario sunshine!! (for those who don't remember). When fludd said something, it appeared in a message in one side of the screen, but it didn't stop the gameplay.

edit: oh! first post, now i'm gadering all the attention

Updated for new Treehouse Footage
Okay, gathered all Moons I was able to find in the SAND KINGDOM throughout the vids (with some added spec). If I missed anything be sure to tell me. Sorry for the low quality pics!

Ok I admit that I didn't pay much attention to this because I was so consumed by Metroid Prime 4 hype. Like that was all I could think about game-wise in the last 48 hours.

But...but...this game. This game is fucking massive. Wowowowowow. I didn't think they could ever top Galaxy but they...did. Nintendo is on fucking fire. Like seriously. I never bought so many games in a Nintendo consoles first year before. Even I only had three games in the Wii's first year (TP, Sports and Prime 3). This is going to be the fifth game for the Switch in 2017 alone.
