Report: Xbox owners are deserting Microsoft consoles for the PlayStation 4

Please tell us which areas other than free games(that you don't keep if you cancel your sub, btw) are superior to XBL?

See, you're just deflecting there. As I said before:

Free games + Discounts across three different platforms. A stable online, a working party chat system. Everything works as advertised. It missing some features which will be added in future updates, but as is, nothing is broken, and games can be played online flawlessly. Not to mention, apps aren't behind the paywall, so if MP isn't your thing you can still use Netflix/Crunchyroll/etc. That's what makes it superior.

Care to to tell me what exactly makes XBL superior? Outside of some vague "Better online" (which doesn't even make sense since most games use the same servers on both consoles, MS and Sony have nothing to do with that) and "better communication" (lol, I don't even).

I already have; go back and look up my posts yourself. I will patiently await your reasons why PSN is superior other than free games.
Surely it wouldn't be difficult to reproduce here, with fully cited sources? I mean, since you've already presented your argument in this thread.

I still remember the sole reason I had chose the 360 over the PS3. That reason was the Banjo trailer in 2006.

vkNWAa7.png

Sure Banjo and Kazooie looked kinda off in the trailer, but the promise of one of my favorite platformers of all time finally getting a third game? I was sold. Most parts of the internet believed Rare could still pull Banjo off despite their lackluster Xbox and 360 launch games.

Then 2008 came along and-

imagen_i208288_in.jpg

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. So much disappoint when these screens came out. It didn't help that this game was actually fun, too. This probably would have been a great new IP if they didn't slap Banjo on it. (Which imo, would have been smarter since Minecraft was such a success. This was almost a vehicle version of that).

This really made me appreciate that Sony put money towards platformers. (Ratchet, Sly Cooper, Little Big Planet to name a few). If there's one thing Microsoft should learn from Nintendo and Sony, it's that platformers are a genre that shouldn't be abysmal on your console.

But it's been a whole month dude. Waiting is so hard
/s

It's mere months since I was reading posts like "Sony needs to stop that shit with constant firmware updates for PS3. Can't we just have one or two a year just like Xbox? I have to wait 5 minutes for the console to update when I switch it on!" Of course I'd want to have share option fixed and numerous other things but I'll just wait. I have more interesting things to do than complain about that.

My input to the PSN vs XBL discussion: I'm sure it's easier to run a network in 13 countries rather than in 40+. The advantages of XBL don't exist to me just like the official support for that network in my country.

What is "hardcore" about PSN? Nobody has convinced me that PSN's online gaming features are superior to Xbox Live. Is "free" games and discounts that important to you that you can just ignore any other flaws with their system?

Well, for me personally, yeah. I don't care about mp games so I don't care about that stuff but PS+ gives me extra value that is worth the price. Where as MS's system seeks to punish me for not paying up on their fee by taking away functionality that every other company takes for granted you get when you by their device. Which makes me want to make sure not to reward MS for that kind of BS. So I refuse to even consider paying for gold unless they actually cut out the BS.

It just makes their device worth less to me as it can only do single player games and nothing else since on principle I refuse to cave into that kind of BS actions. They want my money they should have to earn it, not make me feel like they don't want my business if I won't pay them more money for absolutely nothing. I seriously get the impression after having an Xbox 360 and refusing to pay for gold that ms would rather me not even buy their Xbox if I'm not going to pay their live gold fee. It's like they expect that you buy an Xbox for the privledge of renting it from them. With the concession that I can play single player games, the type of games MS is not interested in getting for their console.

This wasn't for you, but since you brought it back up...those "reasons" such as stable online and a working party chat aren't even true. So yeah, free games.

So you're saying PSN has unstable online, and a non-working party chat?

I'm starting to think you haven't used PSN since 2008

You just awoke a large amount of bad memories and disappointment for me with those screens. I hope you are happy.

So you don't care about the quality of online play as long as you get "free" games and discounts?

There's no servers up for PS2 games anymore (besides FF XI in Japan), plus Halo 2 is not a 360 game so I don't know what that has to do with anything. Halo 3 will be turning 7 this year and I can still play it online. All the online play for the Resistance games will be shutdown on March 28. GT5 will be shutdown in May, and that game isn't even four years old yet!

Please don't put words in my mouth, I never said that. In fact, I have had XBL Gold for over 10 years now and it was one of the main reasons I went with the Xbox in the first place. I really enjoyed the online experience MS offered/offers. It was one of the biggest reasons I didn't get a PS3 initially.

That said, I've had almost zero issues with my PS4 online experience since I bought one (except for Christmas day) for a few hours. It's been fine 99% of the time. And the addition of the games and the discounts has made it a much better value than Xbox Gold was for me. You're blowing the PSN quality out of proportion majorly and living far too much in the past. Personally, I feel like you're making mountains out of molehills with the cancelled servers thing.

Like I said earlier is PSN perfect no it can do better. Look at this list http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1rqab8/the_playstation_plus_instant_game_collection_for/

These aren't games you wipe your ass with, these are some of the best games you can get out there and many users myself included played games that we normally wouldn't and enjoyed them.( X-COM) : )

My happiness died the day the Stampers Brothers left, even if they are to blame for shopping around Rare for a buyout. Those screens are just the icing on the cake. I haven't even posted all the cancelled Rare games during the Gamecube-Xbox-360 eras.

I'm starting to think you haven't used PSN since 2008

Huh?? You listed your post about how PSN is better and pointed out that is has "stable online" and "not a broken party chat."

Nowhere did I say that.

Cite sources. I want to see links, testimonials, evidence. If you want to engage in this childish game of constant deflections, logical fallacies, and rhetorical diarrhea, then I will do my best to hold you accountable.

Implying that PSN doesn't have stable online and party chat. I'm a bit lost here, what exactly do you mean then?

It is evidence of evolve or die. I acknowledged that the launch of Xbox One and XBL weren't what I expected, however I am not going to act like it was a massive failure. I have enjoyed the newer features on the One for XBL.

I haven't ignored anything! You are ignoring what I have said about XBL out of the gate on the One. The party chat was needlessly complicated(which is fixed and smooth now).
So, XBL needed to be fixed, PSN hasn't.

MS has spoken about features it should have had at launch, thats communication. GaiKai recently updated its website, and we know when PSNow beta is starting, a major feature, but they lack communication.
You complain about PSN going down (which is understandable, as people are actually buying), but dismiss XBL for XBO going down because its understandable (people are actually buying it!!!).
You say XBO has the superior OS, while threads and articles have been written about how bad it is. Its your opinion but bad one.

Where is the superiority today? At this very moment.

And if I may add, its upsetting to see such a devoted Xbox fan rock a Marley avatar.

With all the freedoms MS was looking to take from its people, you know Bob would have picked up a PS4.

Sources about what? Dragonborn reposted his post about supposed advantages that PSN has over XBL and listed among them those comments.

What are those advantages that PSN has over XBL again?

Sources about PSN's online not being stable and party chat not working. Compare the issues plaguing PSN directly and comprehensively to comparable ones on Xbox One, and cite all sources.

I'm not going to respond to your deflection until you respect mine.

I never said it had those issues. Dragonborns post #1909 mentioned those as advantages that PSN has over XBL.

I think things would've been better if MS gave Rare more direction and guidance instead of just letting them do whatever until it was too late. Then they decided to control them too much and now they just make Kinect games.

Your post 1909(on iPhone and can't link full post. You stated in that post about stable online being a plus for why PSN is better, didn't you?

Yea, it's absolutely a plus. That doesn't mean XBL has crap online, both services provide stable online and as I've said in other posts, you wouldn't be able to tell a game running on XBL and one running on PSN (outside of visual differences).

As for party chat, I find the PS4 solution to be superior so yes, I added that as a plus.

The free games and discounts are absolutely a plus, but I guess some people don't like that, so it's fine.

Edit: And let's not forget, the paywall on PS4 is far better, as it doesn't lock you out of things you already paid for (even Party chat isn't behind a paywall, it's just MP and the Instant Game Collection)

So, would list why you think XBL is superior now? I honestly want to know.

A good Netflix like service for games and not gimping the machine if you don't want to pay. Or in other words actually trying to give you a reason to pay for it (and it's a good reason) vs trying to coerce you into paying (pay or else your machine will be severely limited). To me that in itself is a huge advantage. I like when my money actually goes to something that has earned it/ deserves it. Not some company that wants me to give them money for nothing just cause they feel they can force me into it or at the very least fool me into thinking they are adding value (so either they think that they are my boss and can tell me what to do or they think I'm stupid and will fall for their BS of "added value". Take your pick).

In the US, the Xbox One has the second highest IB in history after 4 months in market only behind the PS4.

It has a huge lead compared to the X360 at the same point in time.

So to say a one console future is here is console warrior at its finest.

Not sure what you're on about, but it's a one console future as MS and Nintendo has shown to me and many others that you don't need a second box this gen. They've both shit the bed as far as tech, and reasons to spend money on a console when there will be more than enough games on PS4 to take up time/money.

And as far as exclusives, all the multiplats that are substantially better on PS4 are exclusives in my eyes as I'd never buy them on Xbox or WiiU.

So yeah. To me it's the one console future embodied. No need for the other two overpriced, underpowered boxes when I'll never be able to play all the games I want on one console.

Had both last gen, bought both this gen. Exclusives on both I have no intention of missing out on. I have to wonder, how many of those "had both last gen, bought PS4" people are planning to buy an Xbone later on, I wonder? Can't blame people for prioritizing one console purchase over another, considering how much the total cost ends up being.

I still don't think all this launch window comparison stuff matters all that much. The consumers who will decide the winner of the two are not early adopters, know nothing of the Resolutiongate situation, and don't even know what "DRM" stands for.

Are there any more of the original Rare team left at all? I just don't know how one of the most talented developers in the span of a couple years was turn into very poor developer.

I'm planning to buy an XBONE later on already have a PS4 and a Wii-U but for the regular folks out there either the XBONE or PS4 is more than enough the 100 dollars difference is a huge deal breaker.

I get the feeling Rare was already well on it's way to decline by the time MS bought them. Maybe that's why Nintendo didn't bother trying to scoop them up (though to be fair, I found Viva Pintata to be pretty good). Though could you imagine a Nintendo made Banjo game....

Lots of misdirection, layoffs and people leaving on their own accord. Bungie didn't leave for no reason, either. I don't think Microsoft is the best place to work under.

People play on the platform their friends play. Once one platform becomes the standard, it's a snowball effect when more people join to play with their friends down the line.

The beginning is the most important part.

It doesn't. We're not even six months into the generation and people are pointing fingers at whatever console and basically saying they're done for. Even more surprising is that a lot of people want certain consoles to fail. That's pretty sad.

I bought both systems last gen (PS3 only last year, though). I do not plan on getting an Xbox One, and it has little to do with the DRM stuff and nothing to do with spite. I just absolutely can't stand the Kinect integration and focus on multimedia functionality. I loved the 360 and the PS4 actually feels like an evolution of that system to me, whereas the Xbox One is some completely different mutation that I want no part of.

That's actually a very good point. The PS4 feels like Sony took everything good about the PS3, and everything good about the 360 and put them together to great result.

I hope we can bring the discussion back on track. I have a question to people who switched to PS4 this gen:

Do you feel you've had enough information about Playstation, PSN, services, etc. when you switched? I can imagine how it can feel to buy into an ecosystem which is foreign to you. I've had the opposite experience of Xbox and Nintendo consoles and there were always questions I found quite difficult even to google. There's GAF where you can ask good people but not everybody is here or can be.

So you're saying PSN has unstable online, and a non-working party chat?

I'm starting to think you haven't used PSN since 2008

Hes offically a Troll.

There is no superior XBL Gold features compared to PS Plus. Only difference is PS Plus has monthly games.

infact like you stated (basic) XBL takes away features.
cause apparently Netflix uses XBL "superior" network, internet browser wouldnt work without the Azure Cloud,... etc.

Now (basic) PSN has remote play, Usteam, crossbuy/crosssave/crossplay, every internet based application in front of a paywall, ...

Annouced future fearures of the network?
PSNow (Streaming PS3 games, trying out PS4 games instantly, controlling a friends controller and helping them out.) Also they have a incoming internet based tv network. These are more POWER OF THE CLOUD features than the XB1.

Yet hes pointing features PS4 had since day one.. like Twitch streaming, and a functional party chat are note worthy... when Sony has annouced superior services That are already in beta and have a release full release this summer.

Resolutiongate plays a big part in all of this aswell I mean I can play COD Ghosts on PS4 at full 1080p while XBONE only plays it at 720p and PS4 is 100 dollars cheaper, people love value and are willing jump ecosystems just to play a next gen COD the cheapest and best way possible. The brand loyal consumers are a very small part of the gaming landscape.
