No New Final Fantasy XV Info at E3 2014

It's probably not coming out until 2016, I reckon. I don't know why everyone's suddenly so excited and expectant of this game when it's been in development hell since - was it 2006?! Just because it's got a name change doesn't mean Squeenix will become more reliable or efficient.

10 year plan for Ffxv. Somebody remind SE that they are not.making the next Playstation.

No surprise? I didnt expect it at all.
Since ff13 im absolutely not interested in FF anymore anyway. No matter who is in charge of it

What the fuck??????? Are you serious?

The only thing I can think of is an entire overhaul of the entire graphics engine. Anything else is unnacceptable. They have to have massive amounts of work done on the game , enough to show us SOMETHING at E3. Man, fuck these guys.

Welp, this games' incompetent development history only continues.

Are people still thinking this single game will save Final Fantasy (you can argue if it needs saving, but I am referencing when the game was revealed), knowing you've been clinging to that idea for at least eight years? How many times has this company said they're going to keep waiting, keep waiting, keep waiting until they actually show the game?

And they somehow want XV to be a series of games? How about you get the first fucking game out of the door before you worry about sequels? All of this hype for an unproven game with a history of being in development for nearly a decade, and they've only showed it a few times...

I wasn't expecting a full reveal or something akin, but even a slightly altered trailer would have sufficed. Going cold only highlights that this game is still really far off despite a re-reveal...after the game went cold for years. It shows an incredibly troubled development cycle, and those games do not turn out as roses.

No. Why.

This ruins my E3 buzz, quite honestly.

I guess this confirms that FF Versus just drags on, forever a joke.

I kind of hoped that the XV renaming meant it would be a game that actually exists, with a release window in sight.

It's really embarassing. It was XIII "only" for the previous years, now we all thought was XV's turn but no... it's XIV all over again every E3. Tiring.

I don't understand why not showing a 30secs Visual Works trailer and be done with it. It'll be enough, better than nothing.

On that note, I dunno if it's fair to judge FFXV based off its original reveal, when it was clearly 100% concept trailer without any development effort put into it.

It's kinda like if Neil Druckmann was given money to finance a single CGI trailer for TLOU back in his student days even though he will not be able to start making the game for real until several years later.

Not really surprised. This basically confirms that FFXV won't be out until Fall 2015 at earliest, since they probably wouldn't want to start hyping it if it's still well over a year from a planned release date (so it's not "optimal" to show it so far from release), as annoying & stupid that is from the POV that people have already been waiting for so long and they should show it at a big event like E3. I'm assuming it's, once again, more of a decision of the PR department than what Nomura would want to do. They like to have their stupid little planned marketing schedules and a game that is 1+ year away from release is not something they usually show too much of. I'm just disappointed since Nomura said it would at least be at the major game conventions from E3 2013 forwards, which I thought to mean at least the TGSs & E3s.

Let's just remember that Square released the following FF titles in the last 4 years:

FFXIII
FFXIII-2
FFXIV
LR: FFXIII

That's 4 high profile FF entries releasing within 4 years. It's not unheard of for a game to be in development hell for a decade or so. Let's at least give Square credit for actually releasing these games in a timely manner.

Japanese developers didn't learn a single thing from last gen.

Probably in the heat of the moment but I agree.

Never thinking forward (ignoring new platforms and big events such as E3). Looking for short-term solutions in mobile rather than really giving things a go.

Based Kagari avoided me to get this news in da face like a train months ago.

Still really sad, and tremendously worried, to hear this.

All I care at this point is that a new FF project at least will be announced. Being that X-3, FF Type-0 HD or whatever, but I'm hungry for a decent budgeted FF game now.

I think it's time for a wake up call if they had something to show they would show it.

This.

It's not like Versus/XV had a dedicated team of 300 people working on the game for the past 5 years.

Actually, on second thought this is clearly a lie and the reason all those game stores are being told to be opened late is for the stealth release of the game. It all makes sense now.

I did too but it was three nights ago. I was in some sort of theatre watching a brand new trailer for both FFXV and KH3.

I can remember 3 things from mine. It was over 4mins long, Ignis could manipulate mech enemies and it ended with "coming winter".

It's perfectly fair when several other companies have announced games that haven't even started and haven't even had a concept trailer and released them within significantly shorter timeframes. Both of the past two Smash Bros, for example, were announced without any work having been done on them, and both will have been released within a roughly 3 year timespan.

The fact that they're constantly pumping out games nobody asked for while the game people are most excited about is in development hell does not really make me very appreciative, to say the least.

Have to admit, I'm really surprised. Was really expecting it to be one of the megatons at Sony's presser.

Probably TGS, I think.

But TGS is shit! nobody cares about TGS anymore, it's snooze fest for console games! SE has announced nothing worthwhile at TGS in recent years outside of low profile mobile games or HD up res ports. If they're really announcing some thing notable this year they either have their own event or nothing's happening :p

They have nothing to show for a whole years dev time wow. Pure incompetence.
It's not necessarily that they don't have anything to show (by their own words it's advancing well, if it wasn't they'd give more vague statements), but if they are planning to release the game, say, on December 14th 2015, from the PR department's POV it's not the "optimal" time to start showing it again almost 1,5 years from release, even if that is a spit in the face of fans who've waited for 8 years already. If it has that kind of planned release date, then TGS is probably the earliest they are going to show it again, then it'll go silent for a few months again and then in Q2 they'd start ramping up the marketing blitz for the game.

The only thing I can remember was a part of the KH3 trailer. It looked like Sora was in a city with water running all through it.

Hopefully our dreams come true and the SE guy is just lying so it can be a suprise :)

Who cares? This game was announced in 2006, and they can't even show a gameplay demonstration in 2014.

Also, nobody wanted the Ff13 sequels which they did make.

How long has this game been in development now?

Since 2006 I believe.

Development hell for sure. You have to wonder how high the costs of developing the game will have been when all is said and done, if the reports on the size of the team working on the game are to be believed.
