Sunset Overdrive Review Thread

YES.

I just out-trolled the master troll, Miles, with this picture via PM:

Haven't you seen FH 2 OT when it was first posted? Shit went down pretty quick. I don't want to derail the thread.

Your reasoning is sound. However, you really need to time it with another member so that the first post after the OT is just that GIF.

Also, I feel the tone of the GIF is totally different to the #hashtag tagline which was in that FH2 OT title. The GIF is playful and funny and non-specific, the hashtag comment was too focused on another title.

The fact that some people are apparently getting butthurt over a GIF appropriated from popular media makes it even funnier.

So far i like MS exclusive line up much better than Sonys. Knack, Killzone SF and Driveclub are just meh for me, while Second Son is ok (but not as good as the old ones) and the TLoU Remaster was good/great.

Sony really has to start to deliver some good software. I have no hope for the Order (cutscene and quicktime fest) so im banking on Bloodborne. That game has to deliver.

I´m still a PS4 only gamer, but it gets harder and harder to not notice the lack of good exclusive software compared to what MS has.

I agree, I've had a PS4 since launch and I've been playing my PC a lot more since most of the exclusives for the PS4 so far hasn't really done anything for me. Driverclub is just a train wreck of a launch, Already played TLoU last year and I'm not interested in infamous SS.

I'll be grabbing a Xbone next week with Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 hopefully I'll have a much better time then.

I know I am a bit late but it is great to see this game getting positive reviews, especially after the debacle of Overstrike. I have now pre-loaded the game so roll on Friday.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
Looks straight out of infamous

Not really. Looks a lot more interesting in terms of speed and traversal options. The city layout is also a lot more fun looking than mini-Seattle.

Dman, those reviews are looking really good.

This game gives me huge Jet Set/Grind Radio vibes.. Can't wait to play it tonight!!

They're still missing their own third-person action/adventure and platformer. Maybe Scalebound will satisfy the former and hopefully the rumors about Banjo are true.

I would love to have it.

You can vote on it: http://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/25...astered-of-lost-odyssey-and-blue-dragon-in-10

Banjo would be good, it'd be great to have that back and Crash on the PS4.
I hope there's a suggestion for a LO2 on that suggestions page!

Just read EG's review for Sunset, seemed a bit mixed but generally more positive than negative. I hope there's a thread for gamertag swapping for chaos squad, most my friends have gone PS4 only this gen :(

While I'm not really a fan of reviews, I'm glad SO is getting solid remarks. I haven't bought/played a game for my X1 since W:The new order came out months ago, so I blindly digital preorder this last week! Any news on the digital release? I hope it's not 3am like most of my ps4 preorders :(

Gotta say I have owned a Day One Xbox since launch and have only turned it on maybe 6 times. I am glad the reviews for this are good, may finally give me a reason to use that system. May end up picking it up tonight.

Very nice, it looks stunning. The lighting in particular is beautiful.

Did you guys develop it specifically for the game/open world games?

It is the same basic engine that we wrote for Fuse, obviously with a bunch of iteration since then and ported to the xbox one.

Ironically one of the things that was agreed on when the engine was first being planned was that it would not support open world games, but obviously that didn't last. If there is one truism in game development, it is that as soon as you tell designers they can't do something, that will be the first thing they design.
