Also I just finished the Pakman & Arthur video. Arthur pretty much hit the nail on the head that Pakman's just oblivious to context to a degree where it's harmful.

It came from ShitRedditSays, which is a forum hijacked by and then cultivated for an insular group of ex-hyper-leftists that came from the old Something Awful "Laissez Faire" forum. They basically use Marxist philosophy/Chomskyism as a an excuse to bully and ridicule others that don't share their beliefs. Same kind of bullies and trolls you'd see anywhere, including GG, but they figured they'd get less trouble and hate if they bullied conservatives.

But since many of the doxxes (including Felicia Day) haven't been claimed by anyone, I'm going to assume that people are doxxing the side that they are opposed to. (Hence the assumption that Brianna Wu, Maddy Myers, Felicia Day, were doxxed by crazy mofos in GG).

You do know that I agreed with you with that, right? I'm like 95% sure the Myers / Wu / Quinn doxxing all came from 8chan's hellhole. Don't know if Day's came from it (I hadn't seen them talk about Day specifically).

Per the posts below, it seems that boogie's doxxing came from SRS; which is crazy hyper-leftists (and this is coming from someone who literally voted for a socialist to city council last election).

Well no kidding; when someone threatens to shoot up a school massacre style because TB is speaking there, and gets the entire event canceled, then it'll get coverage. But no one's done that. So, I'm not sure why there's a complaint about GG harassment not getting enough "coverage".

Was applying for jobs after work tonight. Went to the local GameStop. Got this gem from the cashier as someone was pre-ordering DA3:

While a Pro-GGer blew the whistle on that game, those sorts of deals were reportedly going on for a long time, and many of the prominent Youtube voices in gaming had either no disclosure or very little ones. For instance, Jontron very clearly hides the "this is a sponsored video" beneath the show more bar of his video when he did a Valiant Hearts one. Didn't seem to inspire much outrage. I'd wager there's probably a hefty amount of these sorts of examples out there.

Yeah, it's all shady. There are possibly more Youtubers breaking some ethical code than what GGers claim of most journalists.

That kind of practice has been known about for quite a while. Youtube makes a lot more sense as a target for advertising than game websites because of the much larger viewer numbers. But of course none of that is the focus of the "ethical" concerns of gamergate.

The problem isn't that there aren't legitimate gripes, it's that this isn't one of them. Rather, this isn't something that Gamergate actually was concerned with. I'd have to dig it out, but a number of us checked Twitter to see what the response was when the Mordor news came out. Most of the Mordor #gamergate posts were "I just got mordor" or "kiss not kill". The actual ethical issue was a tiny minority.

Sorry, but this isn't really true. Nobody is arguing that games journalism is perfect and doesn't have problems. But because of GamerGate we can't have any legitimate discussion on the topic.

It's sort of obvious when you see all the vitriol over how indie games get coverage versus practically ignoring the relationship that major publishers have with media. When the GMAs happened there wasn't a huge uproar from the GG crowd, as far as I'm aware.
