Will Smith is Deadshot? Harley Quinn is going to co-star in a movie, along with Will Smith as Deadshot, her potential love interest? Directed by the guy who wrote Training Day... Wait, a Suicide Squad movie is actually happening?

Seriously though, i'm gonna wait on something official before buying into any of these castings, including Harley.

Ayer's grit and dark overtones seem like a match for Suicide Squad. It makes sense in terms of style, so he obviously wasn't picked out of a hat.

As for Harley, she's actually not that complicated. As long as her wacky sense of humor is there, the rest will follow. The costume is probably the only question mark. But if the rest of the universe is following Snyder's lead on that, it shouldn't be a problem.

They've had a thing in the comics while they were both part of the Suicide Squad. The current version of Harley is more or less separate from Joker as her own character.

Seriously? I mean, the animation was pretty bad, especially when the games it was based off of had more detail and looked better than the movie, but outside of that it was pretty decent. If we're talking about DC movies altogether you have Catwoman, Steel, and a bunch of other movies that are just plain trash. If we're talking animated movies, a lot of what they did before they started everything under WB Premiere wasn't that great, and even early titles like Batman: Gotham Knight were pretty poor efforts.

Yes, I was talking animated, missed that out apparently. Assault on Arkham was pure badness for me. Watched it with another friend who also grew up with DC Comics and the Batman animated series and we both agreed it just failed on every level.

  Harley's "Yahtzee" catchphrase is awful, and played to a room of people who are Batman fans to complete silence when used for a joke.
  Needless gore.
  Extremely predictable twist on who one of the characters really was.
  Boring (Probably its greatest crime)
  The two female members of the squad are topless at points....for no other reason than someone clearly asked for it to be "sexed up a bit"

Then again DC has been trying to run Harley's character into the ground seemingly since the Animated series ended.

If you want to see a proper Harley Quinn then go and find the Batman TAS episode "Mad Love"....

The current Harley Quinn solo title has been a consistent top 10 book every month since it launched almost a year ago. An example? Harley Quinns September issue (The Future's End tie in) sold more than Amazing Spider-Man and was #4 that month.

If DC is trying to "run her into the ground" they are failing spectacularly.

They moved her away from Joker, redid her back story, changed her character, and moved her into ever more ridiculous and revealing outfits. That said some of the stuff from Injustice has been decently back to where Harley used to be....even if it is in denim booty shorts and a thong....

Honestly, her character and back story has only been improving. And less Joker is always a good thing.
