Edge cover revealed: Bloodborne, the verdict (review available tomorrow)

Got the magazine, and there is no 'review' nope. That is in next months issue apparently...

"With 40 hours' play in the bank, and standing it against FromSoftware's formidable back catalogue, we can make a clear call on Bloodborne's quality and present our verdict. You'll have to wait until issue 279 for some words with a digit on the end, but if the purpose of the review is to provide a recommendation - or otherwise - then out cover story should hit the mark."

lol, so no review score tomorrow then

Wait Im confused will there be a review in tomorrows issue or do we have to wait till next month for the actual number and shit?

Then whats to tomorrow?

If the post above is accurate, seems the pre review is in tomorrow's edition, a taste of what to expect from the review, with the actual review in next months edition.

I think Edge are being quite clever and making sure they have a Bloodborne feature/verdict in their current issue, as otherwise (due to their print schedule) they'd miss the boat completely and the review would be post launch.
"Review in Progress" definitely doesn't have the same ring to it as "Verdict".

To be fair it is more of a 'review' than a than a preview and goes into quite a lot of detail over 5/6 pages.

Also apparently as the online integration isn't working yet they cannot do a proper 'review' yet anyway.

'If you've been watching this generation from the sidelines, unmoved by remasters and rush jobs while you wait for the first true essential to arrive, now's the time."

So I think they like it :)

Indeed and it is vitally important in print media to feature the most relevant product at the time whichever way you can. The cover feature often goes a long way in selling an issue and I'm sure Edge will move a few copies with their Bloodborne "verdict".

It's the only way they can get it out there with the review embargo being next week. I think it's a great idea and I'll probably still pickup the issue anyway.

Excellent. Is it available in stores now?

So basically it's the first truly essential game of this generation so far. 10/10 incoming.

To this day, knowing that lame walk web game seems absurd to consider the notes of these. The only criterion we should keep in mind is ours

I realize that reviews are somewhat subjective, and The Order is not going to win anyone's (including my) GoTY award. But it's not a 3/10 game. Period. Not even close.

The reviewer would/will lose all credibility by stating it is. Just as if they called Ocarina of time 6.0 game, or Halo CE a 4.0.

It just isn't within the "margin of opinion".

EDGE doesn't resort to click bait garbage?

What EDGE have you been reading the past four years?

Sporadically the magazine. Never look at their website because gaming news websites are literally the devil. Every issue I've read is full of quality pieces that are actually interesting. The only time I remember them doing something ridiculous is the first PS4 cover they had when they said something like "Why the PS4 should be your next console" or something, but in their defense, they wrote that before MS did all the 180s if I remember right.

That also seems to be a dig at the PS4's offerings. :D

Anything less than 10 will cause outrage. This is the one Sony fans have been hanging thier hopes on. The review thread will be a bloodbath if the game has any imperfections.

Were people really worried about the review scores of Bloodborne? Really?

Because if you did ... phew. This gen has done a number on some folk lol

Hanging what hope on?

That was Driveclub dude. One of the best racers ever released as far as I'm concerned. Side note, their commentary does sound positive, and that cover art is seriously hype.

Someone give me a sleeping pill that lasts 2 weeks.

Love the particle effects in this one.

there's a tomb raider rock band?!

Ha ha, I wondered whether Rise of the Tomb Raider was going to get a subtitle, but I never expected that!

Do Edge not consider the Wii U part of this generation then? Didn't they give Bayonetta 2 a 10/10?

All of the pieces came together here. The game had an early start (began development after DS1 DLC completion), was always targeted at next gen, and has the brilliant Miyazaki behind it full bore.

The Souls series was my undeniably favorite entry into gaming last gen. We couldn't ask for much more. Face is melting.

What perfect game has any one produced this generation or ever? I do expect a 90 or above Metacritic though.

Can someone please explain to me . (And this is coming from a sony fan) Are we expecting most sites to review this very well without bringing up . Where is the next gen gameplay ?

Btw for the record I'm pretty sure this will review well (good track record previews etc) but I personally don't see what's being done in this game that couldn't be done on last gen . (Disregarding graphics because we always do that it seems)

So if this reviews super well without it's online introducing something super unique or without many reviewrs atleast bringing up next gen gameplay it would just illustrate a very silly expectation ppl have built up .

Driveclub easily falls under Edge's statement of 'rush jobs'. Also, imo, it doesnt hold a candle to Horizon 2, but each to their own.

I get to try this tomorrow. Cant wait.
