Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

Only thing really noticeable is the menu lag. Haven't had any glitches show up in an hour of play besides the names disappearing. Would probably have a different opinion if I still played the game competitively in offline environments.
Menu lag I can deal with, but just wanting to make sure the gameplay is safe outside of the occasional (hopefully patchable) glitch.

You don't have a PC? Has rock bottom requirements to run it really.
I'm on a iMac, which I don't think it works for. Even so, I don't have a controller for it and I wouldn't want to get one just for this.

I was super iffy after reading this thread, but after an hour of play through arcade and a match online I, didn't encounter any glitches, and aside from minor lagging at the menus it was super smooth and I had a lot of fun.
...man, I don't want to support such a lazy port, but I want to fucking play it.

I dunno but this doesn't look like something a simple patch is gonna fix. Looks like a super shitty port. This is gonna give SH collection a run for its money.

I definitely jumped the gun and bought it right out the gate. I've been such a huge fan since playing SFII as a kid I couldn't resist. I don't play competitively or anything so I can't speak for the in-depth frame data things, but as far as I'm concerned, this was 25 bucks well-spent.

Yup, patches have come a long way but this is something else.
Hate to be the doomsayer but...

Not a bad idea, but I doubt my buddies are going to play on PC over PS4.

It sounds like you already have your answer.

As for general problems, input feels off relative to other versions. If you only want to play some matches with friends and not get in too deep, then you should be fine as links are not something you'll be attempting in a big way.

Yeah this needs a new port or massive overhaul. Too bad Hexadrive isn't likely to be available.

That doesn't make sense. Patches can fix anything. It might take a lot of work, but I don't see why it couldn't be fixed at all.

Dug around on forums for a bit.

Some people are saying the input lag, while quite noticeable, is actually comparable or identical to the input lag on the PS3 (1-2 frames slower). This would explain the wide variance in experiences "This game is underwater!" "There's no difference to me!" with lag.

PS3 is like the least played version of USF4 so that might also contribute.

Yeah...ugh, gonna sleep on it. See how I feel, but I thin a purchase is inevitable.

Patches sure didn't help the PS3 versions of games like Bayonetta, Skyrim, Silent Hill, etc...

There are amazing cases like the patch that made ZoE 2 the superior version but that patch was MASSIVE and took them a LOT of time and a completely different developer.

Of course its just my guess, but I'm afraid that a fix to this will be more like an entire re-port rather than a patch. That wouldn't happen. Just not economically feasible.

i've played vanilla sf4 on the ps3 and this version has a discernible delay. that's what makes it unplayable for me. i can tolerate the odd glitches and sluggish menu but input lag is a deal breaker.

Those are completely different issues. Wasn't Bayonetta relatively fixed after Sony stepped in? Skyrim was a game clearly too ambitious for consoles, and betashed came right out and publicly stated they were unsure it could be fixed. With SH the devs just flat out gave no shits because it wasn't worth the time or money.

USF4 is required for capcom events and is the appetizer until V lands. There's far too much on the line for them to not fix it, way too much attention around it with Evo.

Sony / capcom knew full well this was a big release then outsourced the port to some shitty noname western studio wtf. How the fuck does this happen?

In any case Mr Wizard (Evo TO) has apparently decided they'll just go back to 360 if it doesn't get fixed at least a little.

Hmmm then i wonder why they left it in the hands of shitty devs if they already knew it was this important?

Bayonetta was indeed somewhat fixed. It was done quickly too. It depends how much they react to the capcom pro tour stuff.

But folks keep in mind the base game was kinda fucked up too except for 360. :p

not shocking, but also not handled by capcom....who am I supposed to hate > : (

Hate capcom they green lit this and other silly things. :p

Bayonetta loading issue was fixed, framerate was set at steady 30 and bugs were dealt with. The issues Bayonetta had is much worse than what we have here.

There seems to be a lot of variance between who's experiencing what. Hopefully this doesn't make it that much harder to patch.

Unlike those games, we are well aware that the PS4 has the capability to run this game in a perfect environment, unlike Bayonetta, which was tailored specifically to 360, and Skyrim as well, which didn't run well with PS3's architecture.

PS4 has absolutely zero issues running this game in terms of potential, it just needs the right hands fixing the code that was fucked up during the porting process.

There's no variance in the game. It's a variance in the skill and experience of the player. Casual/shitty players don't notice anything, good players will.

If it's just glitches and some visual things, and the fact that it's digital, it can be fixed. Depends if Team ICE steps in.

1) Bayonetta patch only helped with the load times and some of the most severe slowdown, the port is still awful and the framerate still worse than in the 360.

2) Skyrim is ambitious but it still runs better on the 360, the patch helped with some glitches like the one that made the game a slideshow after the save file reached a certain size.

3) Silent Hill 2 and 3 ports were awful because Konami lost the final release version of the game and even after the patch the ports are still utter trash.

I hope so... I agree that they won't let this game stay in this state but they need to patch and test this really quick and do better next time.

I mean, it's not that easy in some cases =P but I'm wondering who will be the ones to fix this... Konami went to other, more capable, developer when they fixed ZoE2 after all.

They have about 34 days until CEO and 50 days until EVO to get this fixed. Realistically that's around 20 and 36 days. Need a buffer for testing. If the issues aren't solved by then they have time to purchase copies of the 360 game and whatever systems are needed.

I would say there is roughly zero chance that the we'll see the PS4 version at CEO. A slim chance for EVO. Too small of a window to get this fixed.

SFIV would be more like ZoE2, a last gen game ported to a current gen system (silent hill was missing source code)

The thing I don't get is... Why did they blow off the PC version as a base? Seems like that would be an easy place to start with a PS4 version of SFIV.

i bought it. i am sure at one point it will get patched and i want to support the publisher for ST5.

i am sure at one point this game will get patched so i am not worried. it's not like its the bugs are game player killer and while i am a big fan of street fighter ia m not really the best one around to worry about very detailed core gameplay changes / lags.

besides, i had 6$ in my card so i was golden with 20$ card lol

Guys it's a test for SF5

They'll give Charlie invisible booms, make characters mimic the stage effects, and potentially turn every character into a glitchy confusing teleporter with V-trigger mode

This is year two of the PS4?
And, everyone is sure that its a lazy port and not because the PS3 is technically more
powerful or capable, in certain respects than the PS4?

I will check with SCE R&D team about it situation and respond.

Biggest response so far. Interesting that he's checking with SCE.

The port was farmed out to Other Ocean. This should have either been handled internally at Sony or some place realiable like Blue Point.

I mean, he better. This completely spits on the platform you chose to go exclusive with for your next flagship fighter.
