Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

Reading the OP I feel what Max is saying how it just feels off. I played and everything seemed to work out okay, but there felt like there was a delay with my input or something... dind't feel 1:1 or responsive or something...

The menus though definitely lag which is an eyesore sometimes.

Ok, so.. I bought this and played it a bit last night.

So far, I've yet to notice the menu lag. I've seen all the videos of it and my game does not replicate this at all.

Now, I don't play at a pro level, so I can't speak to the frames for movements and moves, however the gameplay seems fine to me. I've been playing SF for years, so I'm not a "noob," I'm just not a crazy EVO player :)

That said, I'm kind of curious to see more videos and stuff, because I don't see to be experiencing anything as mentioned.

I posted my tests last night. Menus look like a badly rendered gif, Single player arcade matches are ok if your character didn't get nerved. Input lag is there but it wasn't terrible.

Online though....completely different story.

Please post a video of your menus. It's easy enough from the PS4.

Your video shows the slow menus clearly.

Here's your PS4 video vs. the game on PS3.

It's like it's going at half speed

Look at that gif above. When you go to character select, does your copy behave like the one in the left, or the right?...

It wouldn't say its lag, its just a 30fps menu which is worse than the last-gen versions. It does always respond to me but the scrolling looks more sluggish and is slower overall. Its a bit like those bad Third Strike menus Iron Galaxy came up with.

The ground textures do look hilariously bad though.

It's not just a frame rate difference. It's like it's moving half speed.

No offense to anyone who is not seeing the UI slowdown, but I just don't see how you can not notice it if you've spent any time with the game before.

Capcom has the fighting game know-how. They know how accurate a fighting game must be.

Letting it fully on Other Ocean hands is simply inexcusable. Maybe they should remove Capcom's logo if they're not partially responsible for this.

What I don't get is that the game was going to be used for tournament play and still wasn't checked on regularly during the porting process.

its worse than the last gen version as I said. Half speed is caused by the frame rate. This menu needs to be patched to match 60fps. And it needs some AF which Sony really needs to put on their checklist before green lighting something.

fuckin' called it, man
Hey the best part is that even if the patch makes everything perfect, the game releasing in this state could still fuck up big tournaments since updating and maintaining x number of ps4s is an actual pain from what I've heard

Saves me 20 for now then.

I'd get it on PC but...actually I may still if I can use dualshock 4. A stick is a pipe dream for now.

SFV is gonna have cross platform play, right?

'Ultra Street Fighter IV' for PlayStation 4 has big issues

Turns out the PS4 port of Street Fighter IV isn't all that Ultra. Sony secured a next-gen exclusive for the fighting game and its sequel, but its release has been marred by complaints. The internet is awash with reports of severe slowdown in menus, moves not working as they're supposed to, sound glitches and bizarre visual bugs. Although we haven't noticed some of the more egregious issues, the game does appear to have some input lag, which is a massive problem for a title that is all about timing. The entire thing feels like you're playing online with a weak connection right now.

Ultra Street Fighter IV's botched launch is yet another example of companies offering up incomplete games for purchase. As we've highlighted before, several high-profile releases have been seriously compromised by bugs. Most recently, Xbox One users have complained about a glitch in Witcher 3 that prevents the game from saving. Like the developer of that game, Capcom is sure to patch the Street Fighter issues soon enough, but that's really no excuse for releasing a game in an unfinished state.

Curious, any footage of this ?

Like, the game crashes ?

Allowing critical bugs to go through like that would put Other Ocean on a new tier.

The more you guys document the more data they have, so do capture these instead of hyperboling it out of proportion.

I'm going off all the evidence posted from folks in the community, video evidence in this very thread and on Twitter.

Quite frankly, I'm just shocked that it was released in this state and handed off to a third party with no credibility, to handle a game that has a pretty nominal tourney (read: one of the most important tournaments of the year with international competition) very shortly coming up.

The specific things he is listing are documented and have footage on Youtube. That's how we know they're present.

Thanks for that. :)

Sony shouldn't have hired Other Ocean
SF is Capcom's IP. They should have been looking over this port closely.
Other Ocean did a fucking terrible job porting it.
Like I said, the blame is on everybody.

Also agreed on all this.

And normally I'm the first to defend QA, but there is no way any of this should have made it past like, the first QA pass.

...assuming there was more than one QA stopping point.

This is amazing. Its not like USF4 was only on 1 system before and this is the first port. I mean.. there's just no excuse for this.

It was rushed, plain and simple :(

I didn't feel it because I hadn't played the game in months, and the ultra version I only booted up a couple of times, due to having it on ps3 which wasn't getting much use (too busy with the ps4, ps3 disconnected from the tv etc).

But yeah, the slowdown is definitely there after I saw the comparison vids.

I kinda freaked out when I first started the game up after downloading because I thought my PS4 was overheating or something causing the issue.

Is the game really an irreparable mess beyond patching, or are people just being hysterical?

Probably being hysterical, but it does need some quality time back in the oven as there seem to be numerous glitches which affect gameplay.

Buy the Steam version away.
Terrible netcode aside, dunno if they ever fixed that.
Though I think there's better DS4 drivers out there. Or use the Xinput wrapper which doesn't emulate the touchpad. But oh well.

But the game was technically finished, they just went a head and un-finished it. Capcpom f'd up big time. Makes me worry for their port of DMC 4.

Once again: This was outsourced to an "internal" Sony team. Capcom didn't do the work. Meanwhile, DMC4: SE is being done in-house by the DMC4 team. Apples and Oranges.

A better comparison would be the PC version of Ultra's port to Steamworks from Games for Windows Live/X-box Live. That was a pretty bad port, same with the other Capcom out-sourced PC ports that removed GfWL.

Yeah, but at least some of the gaming / tech media is picking up on it, and this is an old game / budget release.
