Dutch journalist: Guerrilla IP "is RPG", shown during Sony Conference

It would be kind of awesome if they pulled a KZ2 and just showed a ridiculous trailer that melts everyone's minds. The art definitely seems up for it.

Guess I should post what was learned in the concept art leak thread

- Red-haired female protagonist
- 3rd person open world
- John Gonzales (Lead Writer for Fallout: New Vegas) is working on this.
- They hired CD Projekt Red quest designers and other experienced RPG developers.
- It has co-op (not sure if Shinobi ever made a follow-up post saying if it was local, online, or both.)

Mathijs de Jonge who was director on KZ 2+3 and Liberation will be the director of the new ip.

THIS

If it looks as good as GG can do, and really looks like that concept art, and actually gets announced during the conference, I'm anticipating the endless succession of:

Oh my oh my oh my. Oh my.

The three best GG games are by him, Killzone 3 wasn't too bad I have to say but damn KZ2 was beyond fucking good. If nothing else, if this new IP turns out shit then Sony most definitely can't be blamed for it. It's been in development for a really long time, I recall it being teased back in 2010 or something stupid like that. Not expecting something half baked at all, at least content wise this game should have a lot for an RPG.

January 2014 they said the game had been in development for 2.5 years already.

Been waiting two years to see this game ever since hints of their new IP.

I really like GG as a studio, they strive for supreme technical excellence on Sony platforms.

I've always wanted them to spread their wings beyond Killzone since they are so talented.
This is my most anticipated reveal of E3 easily.

Guerrilla making an RPG is super exciting.
Maybe it's something about them being based in Netherlands but there's this slight tone in their games that set them a bit apart. Next door they have CD Project and Crytek.

...Whoa. :O That's possibly my dream game there. I might prefer a character creator but if the protagonist is really cool and well-written, well...

(Please don't be a stupid sexualized protagonist, please please please...)

If (big if) this and TLG are announced I will have a hypeattack.

They could do 10 minutes with just those two and still win E3 for me.

Open World Rpg Game in development since 2010

This could be Sony's most ambitious and expensive first party project among the World Wide Studios.

Most Anticipated new IP (since that openworld space game from Santa Monica got cancelled)

Nooooo, what's with this medieval shit being touted?! I was led to believe that there would be a sci-fi setting with robot dinosaurs and giant samurais and sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.
The art looks like humans are still stuck with medieval tech mostly while the mech Dino's are rocking the technology. My theory is there may be aliens involved putting Dino's back on the earth to fuck humans up!

I'm not sure why people think the red-headed woman is the single protagonist.
It's rumored to be a co-op game right. I'm guessing the three templated characters displayed are the ones you can choose from.

Yes!

Guerrilla has a lot of elements that could transfer to making a top RPG, but a lot of elements that would need work. Hiring the expertise in writing and RPG design is very exciting

I'm not sure why anyone cares about the Player Characters.

IT'S GOT FRIGGING DINOS. WHO CARES.

What if you play a young Dino warrior who has to unite the different dinosaurs against ancient Vikings who used magic to travel back in time?

Half way through aliens emerge as the source of this "magic" and the story shifts to the Vikings and the humans joining forces against the aliens. The armor is cobbled together tech from raids.

Would be fantastic to see GG try something new. I've always felt like they've had a lot of talent and the FPS nature of Killzone has always kind of held them back. Can't wait to see them develop an RPG if the rumours are true.

I hope the image quality will be better than what they had in Killzone Shadowfall
was legitimately the first thing that came to my mind, I realise how boring I am.

Totally forgot about Liberation, two great games out of three makes me optimistic (and 3 was not bad either).

And I truly hope those rumours about them hiring a good writer and experienced RPG dev are true.

So true. 3 was really not bad what actually hurt it was going more COD gunplay.

Its sad that so many devs thought they had to copy elements of COD. I think Killzone 2's gunplay would be much more appreciated this gen.

I wouldn't call KZ3 or Shadow Fall "top notch" gameplay

Killzone 2 on the other hand was so fantastic, but they completely lost the best parts of that game.

The news that they hired Fallout/Witcher guys is very exciting. I am hopeful that this new direction will bring them back on track to super stardom. GG have always been more mixed when it comes to public reception.

I know people loved KZ2, but there were a lot of people who also immediately were turned off by the MP. The SP was definitely one of the best I've played, but they never capitalized on it with KZ3 or Shadow Fall.

The teases here with the concept art are some of the most promising I've seen. It's going to be so insanely refreshing to see Dinosaur Mechs, in a new RPG game, with GG's talented graphics team.

If the protagonist is a female, that sounds even more badass. I like that the characters look like they are from indigenous tribes.
Generally since KZ2 their gameplay has been very tight and fun to use. Their games have other problems but I feel they have a really good handle on establishing core mechanics. My main issues with their games are mission design and overall interesting story and script. In particular the stuff you are doing is not all that exciting even if it looks good. That is the big worry with developing an RPG, it's very easy to make a dull RPG if the quest design and overall story just aren't interesting

Can't get to the other pages, but you get the point. They aren't going to make a big RPG like this and not hire people with experience.
To name a few:
- Lead cinematic artist/cinematic director of The Witcher 3
- A dialog writer who previously worked on Shadow of Mordor joined the writing team
- A freelance writer from Blizzard
- A game designer who worked on Elder Scrolls Online
- And several creature artists and game designers who worked on Medieval RPGs

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised by the amount of people who assumed they were going to make a new IP in a new genre for the studio without doing this kind of preparation.

I'd love if all armour and weaponry is sourced from the bodies of Dinosaurs so you literally have to take on the most dangerous enemies in the game to find upgrades

I think it was said to be a game with a full single player mode and a co-op mode.

Pretty confident in GG. I thought the Forest part in Shadow Fall, and using the OWL to zip around, was great.
