Shenmue 3 The Digital Novel. Yeah, that's about as high as my expectations will go on that. Could definitely see them releasing 1 and 2 HD though.

So unlike the other Final Fantasy and TLG reports, is there any reason to believe that Shenmue 3 will be here other than a clever Yu Suzuki tweet that seems fairly innocuous?

If we're recording predictions I'm going with a Shenmue HD Remaster for 1 and 2. Don't think they release Shenmue 3 to people who may have been <5 years old when the console released without giving any indication of what's going on

Haven't caught up with every page (or the vast majority of them) but has anyone asked, and answered, why Yu Suzuki is at E3 to begin with? Surely that does mean something, right. RIGHT?!?!

Could just be networking due to the fact the majority of major publishers are all in the same place at the same time.

But on the inside... I want to believe.

Why remake when you could create

Sadly, because that costs a lot of money and the audience there to pay for it is unknown. The fanbase for Shenmue is understandably small thanks to the Dreamcast being, largely, a complete flop *man tears*... so the number of people willing to pay for a sequel is tiny, and new players ideally need to play the first two anyway before they'd consider playing 3.

I sincerely hope we get well made remasters of the first two games, and I think enough people would find the charm in Shenmue, enough to possibly fund a third game. Shenmue cost a ton when it was made, but in this day and age I'm sure it could be done for a decent price. Sega make Yakuza games every couple of years and the scope and design of those games is pretty similar so I can't foresee Shenmue 3 made in this day and age would need to be some ridiculously high budget game. It's doable, it just needs a kickstart, so to speak, and getting the originals out to modern gamers (and us fans).

Nothing. Just Yu Suzuki being the joker he is!

I have a hard time believing Shenmue 3 is coming based on the one tweet from the front page. But hey, I think GAF will crash if it is announced (well, it'll probably crash if TLG or FF7 remake are announced also)

Is the entire Shenmue 3 hype based off that Tweet?

There's been a few things, nothing concrete but people have been mentioning these so far:

Looks like www.shenmue.com nameservers were updated to point to amazon web services on the 2nd June...

No, Amazon Web Services is for web hosting. As far as I understand, they tend to offer services for sites that receive a lot of traffic.

The assumption is that Sega are preparing for a Shenmue.com update.

Edit: Another thing. Someone pointed out to me that Gio "#BuildingTheList" Corsi from Third Party Production & Developer Relations at PlayStation -- who is only following ~180 people -- has just started following Yu Suzuki on Twitter.

That last guy is an editor at Polygon. He might just be trolling but he's still teasing it with his latest tweet 20 mins ago...

I am staying awake until 4am. I am ready.

(Even if Shenmue isn't there I still have the Game of the Forever Yakuza 5 to look forw- what am I saying? Of course Shenmue will be there! No problem)

Ha ha. Yes I saw it. It's most likely Yu Suzuki sharing a novel, nostalgic moment.

I will, however, be glad to eat some crow if it is announced. I am a Shenmue fan through and through.

I very much doubt we'll see anything, but hopefully in the future that will change. The fact that it's still talked about by both fans and the developer himself is at least something. Maybe... one day...

Good morning, everyone. I just literally woke up. Have you all woke up from the Shenmue dreamland yet? We all know the game won't happen. We shouldn't hurt ourselves further.
