Pretty harsh, but yeah, they are huge bummers now. For me, they have not been worth following since Ryan's death.

Erm, no. Ask anyone on the street what Tetris, Mario and Pacman are - they can tell you. Ask them what Final Fantasy 7 is and Shenmue is - no one will have a clue. Even a lot of video game fans would have never touched a Shenmue game. Fanboys are overstating this.
FF7 isn't even the best Final Fantasy game and IT'S JUST A REMAKE. I feel like every fanboy has lost their brains.
I don't understand why everyone needs to be validated by these guys - they have their own opinions.
Everyone picks at them being negative but ignores when they're unanimously positive - Splatoon, for one. Shit, they all recently got high on Duck Game.
I still think announcing a Kickstarter at your conference and telling your consumer base - who having waited half a life time for this game, and will obviously jump at any chance to fund it out of pure nostalgia - to pay for the production of your game is horribly gross.
And if one more person says 'I used to like them when Ryan was there'...fark me.

UC4 looks super fun as well as Horizon. Im also really thirsty for that SF5. I also am excited for KH3, phantom pain and FF15 tho none of them showed up for Sony's specifically.

That's going too far, as someone who only recently cleared through their Podcast archive up until mid 2014, there was no tone shift, they were bummers on and off over the years, they have their moments and general industry discussions are always fantastic.
The moment personal opinions on a game come into play is when everything goes sideways so quickly, I never know if it's an articulation issue or what.
They have an issue where they can't seem to decide if they want to relate to "casual" gamers or "hardcore" gamers, half of the time they're talking in the tone of "Well the way we look at games is more indepth than the average casual player so this doesn't matter to them, they wouldn't know about this or that like we do" (Which I feel like they give some people too little credit) but then immediately turn around and be like "People looking too deep into these games and liking this or that, I dunno! Crazy hardcore players! It's insane!" (Which is where they start to resent anything requiring any semblance of attention span)
It gets a bit weird.

Eh, I enjoy their relative cynicism. It probably helps that their opinion of the industry recently mirrors my own, but I feel like they're pretty spot on. Video games are cool and all, but I can't help but feel like something has been lacking.
I envy you. I'm buying Fallout 4, MGSV and Batman this year. Nothing else seems super interesting, or isn't coming out this year anyway. I'm cautiously optimistic about Battlefront, but I can't help but feel that there was a lot left on the cutting room floor due to time restraints.

Dude when you look at Sony's lineup for this year and this year alone, it's very much barren and what was shown is a bit ways off. The Batman shit wasn't helping, VR was a complete afterthought and felt that it had to rely on announcements on things that are completely up in the sky as of this very post in order to fill time on the conference. Everyone was in a "I'll believe it when I see it." air of caution, which makes sense. I don't see it as cynicism.
I'm siding with Giant Bomb on this one.
Edit: Also helps with the fact that I give no fucks about Shenmue and FF7 remake.

The next person to start dragging Ryan's memory out to try and form some kind of meta narrative about their own waning interest in a video game commentary site is getting a ban. Seriously, knock that stuff off. It's intensely crass.
But we're just talking about this single presentation. There's more to any platform than what's shown in a tightly scheduled, hour-long conference.
Like I'm most excited for Fallout 4 and MGS V right now and those weren't even shown at the presser. Dishonored 2 will probably be dope also and that wasn't present. Cosmic Star Heroine, Wasteland 2, etc.
Should mention that I'm not trying to say GB was wrong for being down on Sony's show specifically. I didn't even listen so I don't know what all they said. Just think there's a limit to how much importance can be placed in these shows nowadays.

Uncharted Collection, Until Dawn, Tearaway Unfolded, Batman: Arkham Knight, Star Wars: Battlefront, Metal Gear Solid 5, Ratchet & Clank, Street Fighter V, Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian. Those first 5 are out this year so that's pretty nice. There's probably a bunch of indie games coming out that I'm not thinking of.
Talking about exclusives probably.

I don't think watching the GB live reactions is actually worth watching live. Its something you should watch after, because they pretty much ruin any of the fun that goes along with E3 press conferences. I still love their content for the most part, but there's no denying that they pretty much assume everything is shit until they play it themselves, which is a bummer of an attitude to take on something they're supposedly passionate about.

Anyway, Jeff did say Horizon looked 'kinda rad' , then follows up with saying the Hitman trailer is 'fucking rad' ; not bad for a cynic

Having no attachment to final fantasy, my first reactions were, "oh it's here!" the surprise lessened by the rumour, and then with seeing just a cg trailer, and how ff15 progressed, I thought "how long will this take?"

Seems like there are some who want the GB crew's feelings/reactions to align with their own. I don't get this....if they are not cheering/whooping about a game, well maybe they dont feel it. That is their prerogative
There are plenty of games they have been super excited about in the past which I couldn't have given 2 shits about....but I'm not about to question them on it because I didn't feel the same way.
They may be cynical....but I prefer that than being super hyped up about something they haven't played like those GT boofheads.
We all have different feels, but being overly negative about gaming which is supposed to be for the most part fun I don´t get. Yes its their prerogative, but man FF7 is probably the game most gamers have wanted a remake for and many consider as the best game ever. Still they sit their with almost no reaction, but hey its their prerogative.....GT guys at least have reactions and are genuine excited
i would rather no reaction than a faked one. and realistic or passive is much more applicable then negative, gb didnt groan at the reveal or chastise the people who were excited for it, fucks sake.
There are also a lot of the people that;
a.) did not play FF7
b.) did not care for FF7
c.) moderately cares about FF7
d.) really likes FF7 but wants more info before getting to excited (this remake ain't got the benefit of having a massive streak of great games by Squaresoft ahead of it)
The bomb members could fall into any of these categories and it would be totally fine
Hopefully Gametrailers ends up getting a lot of viewers from fallout of this entire mess, those guys/girls are awesome!

I dont know what the hub hub is all about they seemed pragmatic rather than outright cynical also most of the coverage was about the same as how they look at most games.

I'm going to file away opinions akin to 'certain announcements obviously should produce 100% enthusiasm or else it's a sign of shitty jaded fucks' in the same tawdry box that I keep opinions like "reviews should be 100% objective." Both attitudes demonstrate that peculiar and acutely binary mindset, that either-love-or-hate-with-nothing-existing-in-between capacity for thinking, so void of the nuances of the grey area in between, the place where all the interesting shit is.

I feel like this is Youtube's fault. Looking at the most popular Youtube people, everything is extrem overreacting, be it fright, joy or anger. It's like anime, you have to be either SUPER happy or SUPER angry all the time.
