Hmm. As someone who has been interested in Odin Sphere for awhile, I'm curious what combat changes people are seeing. Is it really that drastic, or mainly new moves? Based on the "looks like Muramasa" comments, kinda getting the impression they changed the entire feel of the gameplay. What seems so different?
Perhaps not particularly drastic, but the trailer shows new bosses, new attacks (that are faster than the oddly slowed attacks of the original), as well as adjustments to the auxiliary systems such as food (which was used for healing and exp), and the addition of something to the leveling system (which used to be straight leveling, now it appears they put in a customizable system of some sort). Another thing in the trailer that wasn't in the original is multiple paths/levels on a stage; Odin Sphere has mostly flat straight line stages with slight bumps.

Mostly, Muramasa had faster paced combat and the multilevel stages, so that's where people are drawing their comparisons from.

Odin Sphere is one of the few more recent Vanillaware games that I've yet to play, so I'm pretty excited. While I can't appreciate the differences/additions that the new trailer reveals, it got me ultra hyped nonetheless. Quite an exciting day for Vanillaware fans.

Only when the screen got really busy though. Unless minor dips are worthy of being called "shit". If so even the PS3 version, while obviously running better, was shit.

I'm pretty sure most of encounter in game have lots of enemy and framerate usually go below 30fps. (then again i always go with 3 AI NPC so it "help" a lot somehow lol)

P5 is supposed to be out before this game...

oh man, what the fuck is wrong with me today :(

for the people not watching the stream
>New Enemies
>New maps
>Alchemy system will be redone
>You don't have to replay stages
>You can teleport between areas
>Fighting system has been readjusted and looks more like Muramasa style fighting *can put some CUHRAYZEE combos*

>OST will include rearrangements but also new songs from the FFT composer
>Faster response when crunching and moving
>new animations when using items
and more

This is AWESOME. I have the PS2 Classic game and I'm ready to jump to PS4 version...

Thanks much! These sound like solid additions/tweaks to the base game. Mostly curious because it would feel slightly odd finally playing this game I've been meaning to get around to forever, only for it to be a version with fundamentally different gameplay. Doesn't seem to be the case, though, and admittedly I'd probably end up going with this version either way.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Does this address the repetitive issues? I've never played the game (but wanting to!) so I can't point out how it can be improved.

Awesome, hopefully the new content & reworkings will make it feel more like the "Refined" version they're claiming it's going to be. Being able to teleport & not deal with replaying stages should help with some of the tedious/repetitive complaints.

Also this info probably would be a good idea to have in the OP.

Dragon's Crown on Vita is very good. Can't wait for Odin Sphere, obviously it will be less demanding than DC. It is more like Muramasa, which runs perfectly well on Vita.

Will double dip PS4 & PSV. Love playing on the go but don't wanna miss the visuals on a big screen. Did the same thing for Dragons Crown.

Okay wow. I am really impressed with all of the fixes they're doing.

Princess Crown Remake (if it happens) would receive even more changes.

The fixes are nice, but visually it's kind of hard to "HD Remaster" a 2d game with assets made at 480p. I mean the trailer visually looks identical to the PS2 version from my memory. Should be like a $20-30 PSN game, 7900yen is lol.

What they should have done is just made a sequel in 1080p with all those improvements.

Gulp! This is the first time I've ever wanted one of these figurines.

Velvet is the only Waifu I've ever had.

(perfect reaction because the carpet looks like velvet?!)

I'm buying that. They can say $200 but not before I already order it up.
There's another Velvet figure by Yamato released some time ago and IMO it's really nice. Check the link below for pics (not my site and slightly NSFW).

It's still available on Nippon-Yasan, but you'd have to pay a premium for it.

I'm hoping for more remakes like this & Odin Sphere so that we won't have to dig out our old consoles to play them, along with a Remaster of Dragon's Crown on PS4 since we've already had a PS3 & a PS Vita version.

And if not a remaster of DC, then a sequel that's even bigger than the original DC. :)

We really, really need some sort of release date soon if they plan on releasing this in the fall in Japan. Even announcing a release date in September during TGS might be too late. Didn't Japanese stores get pissed at Nintendo when they were only given a month or so to open Majora Mask 3DS preorders?

I dunno. I'm pretty happy with how Muramasa got handled.

Beautiful artwork on a beautiful OLED screen! My wallet is ready. Although I don't think I have it in me to 100% Odin Sphere again.

They made a pretty amazing one in dragon's crown. I guess it's not traditional stage-by-stage progression because it's part ARPG, but it's 90% beat em up.

Dragon's Crown?

Wasn't very traditional at all, at least when it came to the overarching structure. The character progression stuff and the lack of difficulty killed it for me.

It's tragic, too, because I don't think that adding some kind of arcade mode would have been a huge undertaking.
