Odin Sphere Leifdrasir announced - PS4/PS3/Vita, HD remaster w/ new shit, Jan 14 2016

I have both.

Vita had some frame drops when a lot of action was on screen.

PS3 version didn't suffer any drops.

ps3 versions definitely had drops

when there was a lot of shit and casting going on the screen

I imagine it's PS4 mainly for the west, PS3 and Vita for Japan.

it's atlus though, I don't think atlus is gonna pull a square enix/bamco/koei and release the ps3/v versions digital only

WOOOOW...Odin's Sphere, REALLY?

I loved the shit outta that game, but it really killed me when it came to framerate at times, moved at absolute slow motion in many instances.

With this new game, that's most likely fixed, so i'll take it!

This game has the best plot of any game EVER. It really is just that fantastic.

Yes, the gameplay was repetitive after a while. Partially because all 5 characters went through the same content. However, it looks like they are changing that up.

Also, for veterans, they clearly just showed off new combat systems for each character. A combat system revamp is very very welcome. It was pretty stiff before.

Inventory management was so fun in this game. If you are the kind of person that used to love trying to max inventory space in Diablo, you will love this game.

Day 1!

So looking around it seems like Famitsu is the only one with direct feed screens right now, which means they're tiny

Agree. I don't think there's any way Atlus would skip Vita at retail for this is PS4 is coming at retail. PS3 I'd be a bit more iffy on, but I'd still assume it's coming for that.

yeah maybe can the ps3 since this probably won't come til like 2016 stateside, and whenever presumably NISA can localize for EU

Wow so cool! This is another +1 for me to buy a Vita.

I liked this one better than Masurama or whatever the Wii game was called. Isn't that on PSN as well?

I had the game for the PS2 but I never got around to playing it. I would definitely get this once its out on the Vita!

I assume this will have cross-save? I will probably double dip on PS4/Vita like I did for Dragon's Crown, as long as they have cross-save.

>New Enemies
>New maps
>OST will include rearrangements but also new songs from the FFT composer
>new animations when using items

Very cool...

>Faster response when crunching and moving
>You can teleport between areas
>Fighting system has been readjusted and looks more like Muramasa style fighting *can put some CUHRAYZEE combos*
>You don't have to replay stages

Wow, sounds like they're going all out. Don't know if I'll grab it, though. I already have to PS2 ver...

>Alchemy system will be redone

YYYYEEESSSSSSS! Day 1 baby!

There's another Velvet figure by Yamato released some time ago and IMO it's really nice. Check the link below for pics (not my site and slightly NSFW).

It's still available on Nippon-Yasan, but you'd have to pay a premium for it.

Gulp again. That's a rather saucy, but all told beautiful piece of art. I can't lie - it's desirable for sure, but that's one hefty pricetag.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post those links.

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
Game is great for the introductory part, but it's the definition of 'overstayed welcome'. I enjoyed it a lot, until I realized it's going to be 4x the same content. I might or might not 'finish' it some day, if I ever find myself out of a backlog.

Well. that's a hell of a surprise!!

Probably my most played PS2 game on the PS3. it had it's faults but I have no idea how much time I put into this game. They're sorting out the framerate so if they get rid of those terrible load times and rebalance some of the bosses, it'll be perfect for me.

Have they confirmed 1080/60 yet?

I'd have no issues at all downloading the Japanese version on the PS4 even it wasn't getting a translation, I'd actually prefer the Japanese voice acting and it's not as if the plot is important. Would rather a translated version with the original Japanese voice acting and English subtitles though.

I know they weren't Atlus' games but I wonder if there's a chance of getting Grim Grimoire, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown on the PS4/Vita at some point if these sell well enough? Particularly with Vanillaware having another game on the way?

This is so awesome and exactly what I wanted. (maybe and HD collection of this and Grim grimoire was actually what I wanted but this is fine too)

Now if this also ships with a reprinting (or perhaps in a perfect world an expanded version) of the old pre-order artbook this'll be godlike perfection.

EDIT: Apparently pre-orders have an artbook I really hope it's the same or better version of the previous hardback art book

Holy crap. I never would have imagined this would happen!

Odin Sphere is straight up my #2 favorite game of all time. This looks AMAZING. I couldn't be happier!

Yeah, it's a beautiful figure. That one makes for a great set with the Alter Gwendolyn and Mercedes. I always wondered if Alter saw Yamato's Velvet and just went "Welp, we're not topping that."

Nice screens. Might rebuy this just to drink in the artwork again, still looks stunning. Definitely had some issues with the game, will be interesting to see what they tweak.

Also, seconding an HD remaster for Grim Grimoire as well. Always liked that one better.

Holy shit! This is pretty much my dream game from Vanillaware right now. After playing Muramasa Rebirth, I really wanted Odin Sphere Rebirth. But I never actually expected this new project to be exactly that.

The game looks great but the technical issues I've heard about have really put me off of giving the PS2 version a shot. Really glad to see them remastering it. Definitely in for the Vita version.

Oh yeah, but let's have some kind of mid-mission save in the port.

Nice...I always thought it was repetitive because of the combat system but I still finished it because I liked the artstyle and the fairy tail story-like plot.

Anyway, I hope not replaying stage and this revamp combat system will make the game even better.

Wow they know what need to be done and are actually doing it. You can tell these people love what they do, we need more developers like that.

Loved the original game on PS2. I'm glad that it sounds like they're adding/changing some stuff so it's not just a direct port/HD remaster.

I have the original on PS2 but barely touched it. I enjoyed it, but never got really far, and the shift to the new gen probably killed my desire to tackle on the backlog or something. :(

So I'm interested in this, especially if they fix the major issues of the original. That said, I'd still rather have a new Vanillaware title over yet-another-HD remaster --

Oooh

Wasn't very traditional at all, at least when it came to the overarching structure. The character progression stuff and the lack of difficulty killed it for me.
Someone hasn't been playing Infernal in solo mode... :p Dragon's Crown has plenty of brutal challenges, but admittedly you kinda have to look for it.

I doubt I'll double dip seeing as I found the game's story
depressing as all hell

I do highly recommend it, though.
