Yeah, Dirty Sprite 2 is a dope album. Fucking crazy bangers on here. It falls apart near the end and is too long for its own good given the type of album it is. Thing is though it works where it needs to. If you need something for the gym or to speed to. Better than 56 Nights but it's close. May go back and check what I prefer.

Dope:
Literally tracks 1-10 are varying degrees of fire imo.
Kno the Meaning
Fuck Up Some Commas

Okay:
Blood on the Money

Meh:
Real Sisters
Colossal
Rich $ex
The Percocet and Stripper Joint
Damn, what movie is this again.

I decided to do the questionnaire

Merzbow the best pop artist...my man.

I'm thinkin it is. Whoever said it was a good summer-feeling album was right on the money.

Check out Ferrari Boyz if you haven't. Five years old and still bangs like it came out yesterday.

Getting rid of a bit or ducking questions... Two thumbs down way to take the fun out of a fun thing, horrendous response tbh.

Eh, it's all still in good fun. Plus the pop star thing kind of threw me for a loop. I haven't watched MTV or listened to pop radio since the late 90's so I honestly don't know who the biggest pop stars are today. Not even trying to be cool or anything, it just is what it is...not a part of my world. Other than that one I think I answered all the others straight.

I like this from the bronson rollback:

it sounds like he's offering ghost a fine meal and a rubbing or something

With the apology he gave he probably is. How bad does it burn your soul for your idol to tell you that you ain't shit, ain't never been shit and won't ever be shit? How do you even come back from that?

I guess by offering up backrubs.

You should be more sorry that J. Cole had your favorite album last year.

i stopped listening to hiphop since like 2006 and just started again in 2015.. of the stuff i bought recently J Cole at least has 2014 right in the title, I don't know what other stuff I even have from 2014..

still stand by J Cole as being great. I thought some of his stuff sounded like it was made by fourtet until i found out he produced it himself.

So has anyone dropped some Twelve Reasons To Die II impressions? Ghost threatening to set Action's beard on fire kinda got me hype to hear something new.

Drake's leftover shit gets a 8, but Summertime 06 gets a 6. Scust!

Not every album needs a 10-minute long adjective orgy. Fantano is obviously great at what he does, but he tries to apply what he does to every album and it doesn't work. Ebert knew when a movie review needed a lighter tone. Fantano treats every album like it's a blueprint to a Ohio-class nuclear sub and he's giving detailed mechanical instructions to a new recruit. It's unnecessary and pretty masturbatory.

Man 32 Zel, Yen Lo, Summertime all below a 7. Krayzie.

DS 2 is also probably an 8 for me.

i like the beats a lot but its very story focussed, and its not even remotely interesting. I still like to listen to it but I much prefer sour soul if you want something recent.

I haven't been able to finish the new Czarface, the production is weak. Very disappointing.

Ant's reviews tend to highlight a general white hipster approach to hip hop: they don't like or seemingly respect the genre in of itself, and instead gravitate the most to projects that blend multiple genres and live instrumentation. MBDTF, TPAB, GKMC, Graduation, Take Care, The Love Below, The Son Of Chico Dusty, etc. Ambitious projects that mix genres and/or play with traditional rap song structures.

The difference between Ant and Pitchfork is that he seems to appreciate 90s rap more, hence his enjoyment of projects like Czarface here or there. Whereas Pitchfork has no interest in the 90s sound or retro imitators - instead they tend to enjoy trap rap, perhaps for the electronic-esque production.
