So, who's buying Mad Max next week?

So far I've played 23 hours with 23 percent completion - I like to explore and go off the beaten track in open world games, I often don't do things in the order developers expect the player to, so I'd imagine most will get through it a lot quicker than me, but I'm having a great time with it so far. Easily worth full price.

Everything just works really well, combat's satisfying on foot and in car and, even though it's not a graphical powerhouse, I've been wowed by the skyboxes, the lighting, the particle effects, explosions and general mayhem and destruction the game offers up. There's a ton of stuff to do, it totally nails the Mad Max atmosphere and personally this feels like a game I'm going to spend a lot more time with.

Can somebody comment on the soundtrack? Is it any good? As good as Fury Road or is it more atmospheric?

It's very atmospheric for the most part, but picks up well when you get into combat. Even more-so if you start trying to chase down a convey.

One thing I'm wondering about Bootaay, in one of the streams they talked about stuff not being marked on the map that are being left for the player to discover - locations etc. You discovered any cool stuff on your travels ? Obviously just a few examples if you have any. Just out of curiosity :)

Agree about review scores. I've loved games that have had 6/10 and also disliked 9/10, 10/10 games. All personal preference.

A recent example for me is Arkham Knight. By far the most disappointing game of the year for me and it is being hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I see a similar, but more brutally satisfying fighting system here and car mechanics that take a giant shit all over the horrid Batmobile stuff. I already know I will enjoy this game so much more, despite the inevitable lower scores.

I don't know about anything that'd really qualify as cool, but there is unmarked scrap to find in the form of buried wrecks and sealed cargo containers, both of which can be pulled out/opened with the harpoon. If there's any larger secrets, I've yet to find them.

When you get to an area points of interest are added to your map either when you pass by or when you use a look-out balloon to scout the area. There's usually a few balloons per-region and you end up with a ton of map markers.

If it is an in store preorder pick up from the website then you will most likely have to call customer service to get the adjustment. The store and website are completely different.

No it will be an in store preorder. Ive always had to pick up my preorders, instore or online, at the service desk.

I tell you what. I would rather have funny physics glitches than have this happen:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk7aykiHDn8

Falling through the world in MGSV and having your game save. Even the 'perfect' 10/10 games are really... not so perfect.

Holy fucking shit!!! Regardless of the game, that sucks and if the game saved and keeps doing that when reloading the save file, I feel sorry for that guy especially if he's far in the game.

Just sold off Destiny, God of War III: Remastered, The Order and Rare Replay (I've had enough fun with it!) and used in store credit to get Xbox Store cards, so I got Mad Max for only $3.90.

You can't beat a deal like that.

Definitely picking it up. The first gameplay trailer coming on the heels of Fury Road had me itching to play it.

I did preorder MGSV first - even though I'm not a big MGS guy, I know a 'can't miss' event when I see one. But when I reviewed my finances today, it looks like I can swing for both.

The gameplay they've shown and the stuff that's washed up here have me really excited.

That's what the store was thinking when they sell all of those games again.

If you did indeed trade them in?

You are much better off ebaying over gamestop.

A quick look and you could have sold all of those for around 85'ish bucks or so on average.

For anyone playing can they look and see if you have the minefields located on balefire flatlands and post a screenshot of location? It's in Jeet's domain. I only need one more to get the side burners for the car.

Personally I enjoyed what I did play of Mad Max but became exhausted by the massive map and monotonous tasks.

Seeing this review on N4G, I clicked on it and read it. I get to the end with the above quote and am thinking...how the fuck can this guy review and score Mad Max when he didn't finish the game? It's shit like this that pisses me off and why I don't take any critic review seriously.

And P.S. - Boring scenery??? Are you fucking kidding me??? I watched the first hour or so of the game via youtube and considering the fact that you're in a desert wasteland, I think the game looks pretty damn good. Seriously??? Are those who are playing the game truly expecting buildings and lush forests and stuff??? *SMH*

PC player here. WB lost a lot of good will with me with the Arkham Knight PC fiasco. I'll be waiting for impressions/reviews before I even consider the game. The fact that there are such great deals to buy the game already is a tad suspect.

I don't play PC games at all but the PC version is being developed in house by Avalanche Studios. I think the sales and deals for the PC version is a result of what WB did with Batman as opposed to the Mad Max game itself. In other words, WB is trying to make up for it.

I mean, I didn't enjoy three of the four and I didn't play any of them anymore outside of Rare Replay and that'll be dirt cheap around the Holiday's so I'll pick it up again someday but for right now, that's a solid deal for me since I'm saving up money for an apartment.

I think he means you can sell them on Kijiji or CL for WAY more.

There is so much visual storytelling just in the footage that is out there. Old sea beds with ship wrecks and rusted oil rigs, etc. Not to mention that he never even mentioned the insane looking storms. It literally looks like a Mad Max wasteland, and to me, that is anything but boring.

Exactly. And there's an underground airport and airplane that I have seen in a gameplay video. There's a lot more to the game than people think there is. Storms looks awesome especially lightning storms when you can actually get struck by lightning and on fire as a result of it. Worse part is that the game is meant to look like it does because it's a wasteland and yet, instead of being a positive for being what it should be, it gets bashed. Makes no sense to me.

Either way, I have watched the first 30-60 minutes of the game a few times because im so hyped and excited to play the game but don't want to watch further because if I do, I'll end up watching the entire game and I sure as hell don't want to do that. LOL.

~50% of games before release is fairly common on PC.

I've picked up:
  • Witcher 3
  • Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
  • Resident Evil HD Remaster
  • The Evil Within™ and Season Pass
  • South Park™: The Stick of Truth
  • Sniper Elite III
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown

For more or less 35% or more off before release. It happens all the time. Hell, you could buy Witcher 3 for super cheap even after release. Cheap games are PC's bread and butter.

A seven or eight (or somewhere in between) is what I'm expecting with this game and I can get the complaint about monotony. If I can get as much enjoyment out of it as I did Arkham Knight, which personally I'd also give a 7 or 7.5 despite the PC version's problems, then that's just fine with me, especially for the price.

Yeah, Arkham Knight IMO was rated too high. It was weird to agree with Gamespot's review though I had already figured as much before I saw it just as I have with this game.

I can't believe there are people who beat stuff like MGS V already. I take my time with games(especially open world experiences). I want to get my money's worth and explore everything that the developer intended me to see. Why rush the experience?

To each their own, but I would not give Arkham Knight a 7-7.5 on PC simply for it's unacceptable condition. A 7-7.5 is a good, working game in most people's books. That game was hot garbage from satan's asshole on PC. And I beat it on PC. Twice.

It certainly is a fun game, when it's working. But it's story was bad, and it ran bad(poorly), and WB should feel bad.

I'm expecting to see Mad Max in/around the 8-9 range depending on whether the reviewer is a fan of the source material, or isn't unfairly comparing it to MGSV.

But I also don't give a shit about reviews either and can just watch a bunch of media(and in the case of Mad Max, there has been a lot) and form my own opinion on whether I'd like something instead of relying on some asshole going for clicks. When you live or die by the amount of people who click on your reviews, writers tend to err on the side of CLICKBAIT and will usually, unfairly rate a game too highly or way too low simply for the clicks. If Arkham Knight had a bunch of PC footage out in the wild I certainly would have sold the key that came with my GPU instead of being stuck with it. I tried to go through customer service with Amazon and EVGA and they essentially told me I was shit outta luck w/ trying to switch it for the MGSV codes they were giving out at the time.

not really for the story. side ops are optional so i will spending less time on them.

Ahh, see, that's what I'm talking about. For me, I want to enjoy most of what the game offers on every front. If 50hrs is just for the main story, a couple of side missions, and cut scenes, I haven't experienced most of the game yet.

Did you finish the mission to build him a house inside the stronghold first (I think that was a mission)? After that, you should be able to select the buggy when you leave the stronghold..hit square and select other vehicles. The buggy is in the list.

Huh, didn't realize that GMG's deal extends up until release day. Looks like I'll still have time to read some reviews before I fully commit to a purchase.

Are there any (legit) sites that have a better deal?
