I mean, it could be, but a lot of these things could be accidents or coincidences. I can see the flexing just being part of the normal animations considering the context of the series, and it could easily be that they just took a few screenshots of the costume and just chose one on a more arbitrary manner.

The thing is, Japan is a very conservative culture. The vast majority of game developers there are men. And while some may be gay, being gay is still a lot less common than being straight. And even if someone is gay, there's a good chance they'll hide it for social reasons, especially in a culture as conservative as Japan. If this is intentional, I think it's far more likely a gay individual on the team pushed for this because of their own tastes without letting the reason be known, rather than some united front from the team with the intention of reaching out

While the theory of a gay mole in the SF5 development team is hilarious, I think it's far more likely that either:

A) Nobody on the team had any idea that people would react this way
or
B) Everybody on the team knew exactly how people would react.

I'm leaning towards B, because video games pandering to female nerds is not nearly as rare in Japan as it is in the west. The only reason why I'd so much as entertain the possibility of A is that female Japanese nerds sterotypically like their men way prettier than that (exhibit A- Amnesia: Memories.)

There are very few vidoegame chapters I've found properly hot. Sure, I've experienced cheap titillation from the likes of pausing SFII when Chun Li does a spinning bird kick, Ivy's huge bouncing rack, MGS upskirts and the cast DOAX, but I wouldn't say any of those have triggered genuine attraction.

Hot Ryu joins the exclusive list of Bayonetta, Zafina and Chris Redfield's forearms in RE5 to make me have proper sexy thoughts about them.

If this is true then the man is hero. It's unlikely that Capcom designed and released this without some kind of impression in mind. This type of thing is rarely accidental. You can draw clues from the way he is posing:



His body is contorted in a way to draw attention to his chest and abs. In fact it's a very familiar pose that's used frequently:

Beards on main characters in Japanese games are very rare. Usually supporting characters have them though.

That guy was a little closer to Vaan from FFXII than Ryu in this case and almost had his ass hanging out, lol. Ryu's look here is a bit closer to someone like Snow from FFXIII when he had his ~moment~ in the game.
