True, though at the same time guessing a stage built around a mechanic (swimming) which isn't in the 3ds version isn't super safe either because up to that point every dlc stage was on both systems. Had this said "pirate ship wiiu only" it'd probably have gone a bit further to being believable.

He isn't the only Assist Trophy they cut, though. Unless you expect Barbara the Bat to be a playable character.

K.Rool being in that leak basically proves it's full of shit.

They placated a very loud minority on the internet by making it a Mii outfit, they're not going to waste a character slot on an ugly villain character that hasn't even featured in the last two main DK entries.

Wolf is a very high possibility to garner interest in the new Star Fox game (lord knows it will need it).

Bomberman is a strange choice considering it's a zombie IP at this point. I wouldn't discount it entirely considering they included Pac-Man, but Pac-Man is basically synonymous with video games while Bomberman is not.

If we're talking serious business-oriented additions, Tetra would make sense. The game needs more female characters, Pirate Ship supports her, and she'd be a clone of Toon Link. In addition, Hyrule Warriors for 3DS is encouraging cross-buy perks of Windwaker characters. Extending this promo into SSB would be understandable.

To be fair a lot of people have speculated Retro is working on DKCR3. Not really that much of a stretch for someone to claim that is the case.
