As long as the game is compelling and cultivates an audience for itself the requirement won't matter. In my opinion, the film will be a major determining factor for the size of the game's audience. First J.J. tore Star Wars into the dirt, second J.J. will resurrect it. Abrams is the perfect man for the job. It's amazing what he did for Star Treck, now he will make Star Wars sexy again. I do not give too much for trailers normally, but they nailed the look and feel of the old, the good movies and combine this with modern action cinema.
If Battlefront fails, it will be a colossal fault of it's own.
My 15m thing was more based on this game getting great reviews and word of mouth. Should the game get a negative reception then that'll certainty affect sales. Not drastically as it should still get around the 10m mark but that won't be good news for EA.
Also this game should be bigger than Halo 5 on a global scale.Not COD though.

I think the news of not having a campaign stirred up all the game mode it officially supports, so it's ok if people don't know but just for you neogaf members...
Battlefront will have:
-Offline Solo Survival missions
-Offline Co-op Survival missions
-Online Co-op Survival missions
-Online Competitive Multiplayer

Edit: Got lucky, even the news for the beta announcement includes all the modes I mentioned so I don't have to look up links so there you have it.
Ah well cheers for that. I didn't know they had offline modes available. Good to know.

So let me get this straight you think the 3DS will be up 150% sales per week MoM, the WiiU will also be up 155% sales per week MoM all while the PS4 will be down 15% per week MoM and the XB1 down 12% per week MoM? Do you have some reason for this miraculous 150% bump for Nintendo products that somehow leads to lower sales of their more successful competition or is this just deluded fan fiction? Because I sure am curious to hear it either way. Please enlighten us!

At this point in the Wii U's lifecycle, software is not going to have a big effect on pushing hardware.
That Mario Maker bundle could help, but I think that's a Walmart exclusive.

WiiU sales are so low, even a small increase in numbers results in healthy-looking percentage.

Yeah, like just a 20k increase this month would be more than a 45% increase month over month, but in the Wii U's case, you have to look at just how much of an increase the raw number was, and not the percentage.
I think The only month with good numbers was June 2014... And maybe December 2014.

Also, software predictions are likely way off.I can see a lot of people digitally purchasing those games (myself included). What would NPD need in order to count digital sales?

Bloodborne definitely has high digital sales, it sold ~400k on NPD, and about the same in Europe, before bundling it was ~250k in Japan, so it should be 350k-400k with the bundles there.
If we assume that it sold 200k-300k in Asia/South America, then that means that it sold more than 500k digitally based on the 2m WW sales figure, which is a huge ratio.

Halo 5 has been Luke warm in the field from the people I've heard at Best Buy and Gamestop. It's going to be big....but 343 being on that box has definitely killed hype for some of the fan base. I'll have to jump around here and see how many pre orders we got at GameStop.....no idea on Best Buy, I don't have connections there despite how much I shop there :/

Right, I bought my Xbox when MCC hit in guessing along with most other fans.
Yea I'm curious as to how many consoles it can sell. I just don't see it doing what Halo 3 did for the 360 in that month of September though.
The only people that know who 343i/Bungie are are Internet nerds, the average person doesn't know nor care about this stuff.
A better argument would be the decline in Sales in Halo 4 & the hardcore drop in MP population after launch, I'd wager that Call of Duty was the culprit, and not some Internet studios war.
If MCC didn't come out and halo 5 was the first halo game on the console it would have been insane numbers. But I see maybe 100k above come this month.......
As for this month, Sony is taking and destiny will be number 1 on NPD.

Pretty much. The Halo name still carries weight. But I'm sure the problems the MCC had did a lot of damage. I personally still think Halo 3 was the best MP wise. So damn good.
That being said I agree. With the rise of COD and battlefield in popularity that definitely took over some of the playerbase
I don't think the MCC would hurt it that much, just take a look at bf4stats or bfhstats and see how fast the average consumer forgets an atrocious launch.

Halo was unmatched as console FPS once. this has changed. It's still good, but not the champion any more.
Also, Halo is much tamer than the others. And for a good part of the FPS-crowd, gore is a selling point.
Absolutely not, there's nothing gory about Call of Duty, Battlefield, or Counter-Strike, the three biggest FPS games out there.
