PS4 + Star Wars Battlefront ad

They should show this in the cinema when The Force Awakens comes out. Millions of people are going to see this. The Stars Wars hype is getting big.

This has the potential to become the most successful marketing deal imo. The timing is just perfect.

I usually HATE live action ads for video games. That ad was spectacular.

With marketing deals like this, the PS4 can make up for a lack of exclusives this holiday.

Awesome ad, but that guy is way to young to be having those nostalgia trips. I could've done without him throwing the chair out the window, and just start gameplay footage when he spots his friend.

Well done though!

Epic commercial, such nostalgia..
Had that R2 figure, naturally. Can hear the plinking sounds it made when you twisted the top. Loved my SW toys.

DAMMIT, I said I wasn't going to buy SW:BF!

How so? He looks thirty-ish. I'm 31, and that ad hit me right in the nostalgia feels. I grew up on Star Wars, even if I wasn't alive when they came out.

Imagine PS4 Battlefront commercials in cinemas before The Force Awakens. The credits will roll and people will be out the door, speeding to the nearest retailer.

What? You don't use R2 to wipe your ass?
You don't?

It even has a built-in spring mechanism so it doesn't press too hard.

Isn't this as basically the same as a Titanfall one?
Mostly, but nobody had nostalgia for Titanfall.

And I can respect that there's no implied promise to be some esports level competitive game here, or even to tell a coherent story. The ad is purely about being in that world with your buddies and recreating moments, and that's enough.

Don't sass me kid! Shoulda been someone in their early forties who grew up during that period! Now get off my lawn ; )

Would have been better if it used actual gameplay.

They're selling you on the feeling of Star Wars so not really. Graphics are good enough that it'd still work (if this was PS2 Battlefront then absolutely not) but it doesn't matter really.

X-Wings don't do well atmospherically on Hoth. It's too cold. They could barely get the snowspeeders running.

I also wish that the game had a map that supported the number of players shown at the end...or even half that many.

best playstation ad I've seen tbh. pretty much hit the nostalgia pandering that this star wars resurgence is all about exactly.

Disney + EA are going to print money off the Star Wars license for the forseeable future. It almost doesn't matter how good/bad the movie ends up being. Not only will it attract a new generation of fans but the older fans represented by the character in the ad now have significant amounts of disposable income. For the first time in a long time, I expect COD to be outsold in the Holidays and attaching Star Wars to Battlefield is what looks like it will take to do it.

Grabbing marketing and bundling rights for both games will likely keep the PS4 ahead of the Xbox One throughout the holidays, notwithstanding a fantastic looking Halo 5. With this sort of marketing push on all things Star Wars, I can totally see why SCE decided not to release any major first party games this Holiday season.

I almost shed a tear. Seriously that was my childhood.

Would've been cool if they slipped in an old Atari console by the TV.

Edit: I wish they used actual gameplay. That shit looks amazing at times.
