They're mushy and the distance on the pulls is stupidly long. They're also incredibly poorly made. All of my controllers have triggers that stick from time to time.I have the ps4 since August, and I find the controller ok. Only complaint: the triggers. The don't feel "right" to use, can't describe it properly
Not only that: I can't precisely tell if I'm pushing them completely or just partially, and that bugs me. Other than that, I really like it, it's a big improvement from ds3.They're mushy and the distance on the pulls is stupidly long. They're also incredibly poorly made. All of my controllers have triggers that stick from time to time.
I sent my first controller back to SONY and had to pay the shipping. Then when the second and third messed up I said f*ck it and purchased better sticks and new triggers online. My 3 Xbox One controllers are still running flawless. It's almost as if this is sony's way of making sure they make money on the sh*tty build of their controllers.
Mine has squeaky triggers atm. Tried to use that pencil trick, but wore off a few weeks after.
Admit you don't know anything about it, Intentionally (or ignorantly) misspell Xbox, and go on to assure us that the DS4 battery is better. Jenniferlawrence ok gif worthy.
Even if rechargable batteries didn't exist, you could get something like 250-300 AAs for the price of a new controller, that will absolutely last you longer than a DS4 would.
The post you quoted was a joke
In other words, it's "alright, I guess."The DS4 is an unmitigated disaster, a failure of product design and manufacture and lastly an insult to the customers who trusted Sony with a purchase.
Lol
The complete opposite for me. Think the ds4's are kinda solid. X1 pads are ass.
Just bought a brand new controller, should I be worried? Are we talking RROD level failure rates here?
This is what I was thinking, this thread is for people who are coming here to complain. I take really good care of my stuff but hearing the stories here makes me think they are just destined to fail. It's too rooted in anecdotal failure tales to say for sure, as soon as I'll tell you that yes, it seems more or less comparable you'll get someone else telling you that it's not even close since they have N number of controllers and they're all perfect, same for those of all their relatives, friends of friends and President Obama.
At the very least is a widespread issue and you could incur in a model with the mentioned problems (and that is another thing that really pisses me off, it's not even A problem, no, it's MANY that it could suffer from)

Have had no issues on my two launch controllers until this weekend.
R2 trigger gave way (same spot as everyone else).
Spent the $5 on replacement parts and will fix on Monday.
I feel ya. My white ds4's left analog gets stuck in the up left position. I've opened and cleaned it. Still gets stuck. Pisses me off.So, I just had to fix my R2 trigger yesterday. I bought a white DS4 back in November and I guess between Battlefield and COD I fucked up the trigger. I open it up, which was a pain in the ass too, it's locked together tight, I break one of the pegs off of the right trigger in the process, and I lose the spring. Great.
Apparently it'll work without the spring, it'll just feel a little less tense. Then I see the infamous blade on the trigger that activates the button but slowly destroys the rubber nipple in the process. So I decided to open up my launch DS4 which I stopped using a while ago and thankfully manage to get the trigger and spring out intact and just swap them.
Works fine now, but I went on Amazon and bought a ten pack of replacement triggers. I've been using a grip so my sticks haven't worn, though I'm now afraid that playing Advanced Warfare will eventually destroy my left stick.
In short, what the hell Sony? I used the same DS3 for 5 years straight with the only issues being the sticks wearing smooth. I used the same DS2 for 8 years before the rubber fell off of the sticks.
The DS4 ergonomics are amazing and I love it, but hot damn is the build quality crap.
The DS4 is an unmitigated disaster, a failure of product design and manufacture and lastly an insult to the customers who trusted Sony with a purchase.
The my controllers thumpads are shot, my USB ports don't charge half the time, and my controllers lose signal if I'm more than 10' from my console. Great ergonomics crap quality. The only reason I haven't switch to my Xbone is that most of my friends are on ps4 😓
Have purchased 4 total. 1 no longer charges, one has a stuttering d-stick, and 2/4 have the rubber peeled off.
The newer builds do not have the rubber peel off.
Any consensus on the best battery to attempt for a replacement? Also, is it possible to fix the stuttering d-stick?
If you want to replace the battery I would only recommend this guide and battery:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/2rtimv/diy_double_dualshock_4_battery_capacity_internal/
Basically all "replacement" batteries labeled for DS4 are bs. I replaced mine originally with some generic battery off Amazon that everyone recommended when they really had no idea what they were talking about. My battery life fell by more than 30% or more with the ones I got (I bought 3 different types).
When I did this guys guide it was a serious improvement. There are detailed explanations about why other batteries suck and why this particular battery is better and why you have to swap the wires.
I can live with cosmetic damage, I just hope that the buttons don't start playing up.I also take great care of all my devices, but the build quality of the DS4 has been a real disappointment. It only took a few weeks for rubber to start peeling off the sticks. Which is a shame because I really like its ergonomics.
Alright, after almost a year without problems, the rubber on my 3rd DS4 started to peel off again last week.
But not only that, yesterday I noticed that my player randomly stopped skating in NHL 16. Today in Witcher 3 I saw the same behaviour, Geralt not only stopped running but he made turns into directions I was never even close to pressing.
Trying to rebuild the database and reset my controller now, but I don't think that is a software problem.
The battery has almost twice the capacity on DS4 than on DS3.Sony can't get anything right completely, dualshock 3 design was horrible but it was a freaking rock when it came to durability and the battery lasted days, dualshock 4 is the perfect design with crappy components and a joke of a battery, just bought a D4 at bestbuy and the triggers sound like a cricket every time i press them, for fucks sake
Regarding the sticks peeling, get some caps off eBay, they cost next to nothing.
But the DS4 needs a charge after a few hours. It takes me several long play sessions to need a new DS3 charge. The battery has almost twice the capacity on DS4 than on DS3.
Yeah you can shit on the controller as much as you want. But the battery is objectively superior. But the DS4 needs a charge after a few hours. It takes me several long play sessions to need a new DS3 charge.
Capacity doesn't matter to the user. It's the user experience that should be their focus.
I really hope there is a pro edition soon or the Hori FPS pad is more widespread. Sony's controllers are BS.
superior means nothing when in real life term it performs worse, battery LIFE is worst and that's the whole point of itYeah you can shit on the controller as much as you want. But the battery is objectively superior.
That is what I was correcting.
