New Halo 5 Coverage! (expect spoilers)

Any time the Warden shows up, I know i'm going to wipe about 20 times moving into high ground and dodging enemies while i position my fireteam in a place to expose his back. I don't think the fights are difficult, because once that's set up it only takes a couple attacks to take down the boss. It's just add control.

That's all I'll say for now. I can see all the areas where co-op will make the gameplay itself much better because I'm not relying on AI that I can only control as a unit. Wish I could tell each individual member where to stand with one covering my flank.

Zoba already pulling a heel turn from yesterday? lol

No? The gameplay is still amazing. If anything, i'm more excited for multiplayer now because of how the game handles.

Credit is given where it is due.

Why not toss down to Heroic on a first playthrough?

I seriously want to buy a beer for everyone on marketting/creative team that made this, and the executive that approved them. Bravo people.

One guy, on our video team- including the sexy voices, idea, capture, edit and production. Ladies and gentlemen, Landin. He also put together the Muse trailer.

Heroic playthrough begins at 11 p.m tomorrow, going to blast through at my quickest pace whilst soaking up the story, then Multi all day and night.

My body is so fucking ready.

Same for me, but nice and slow on Heroic. Going to soak up as much single player content as I can. I want it to last and want explore. Will do MP in between breaks of the campaign, but will mainly focus all day Tuesday/Wednesday on SP.

Yea I'm looking forward to going back through it on Heroic and seeing how the gameplay differs.

I wish it lasted longer.

I don't get how you could say the gameplay is amazing and then the campaign mission has only 30 seconds of fun in it.

Honestly, Mission 7 is perfect and am really looking forward to playing the crap out of that.

The game handles well so nothing feels like it's out of my control (except the squadmades). Legendary is usually like that though between wipes and looking for ammo caches. It's no where near Halo 2 in that regard, but getting one-shotted and pushed back to a checkpoint from ages ago gets old.

Pssssh, who actually fights enemies in Halo 2 legendary.

Outskirts grenade jump or bust

Going to start Heroic now. I couldn't even get much out of Ground Pound on Legendary (don't use it on a soldier) so I think i'm going to appreciate this much more. I can't imagine going back to the old games and feeling so immobile again.

I just gave Buck a rocket launcher.

Don't give Buck a rocket launcher.

This checkpoint system is really cool by the way. I was wondering how they were going to modernize that aspect of the game.

Just finished mission 6. I'm still enjoying myself, but if I'm being honest I haven't played anything outstanding. The foundations of the game are still solid and fun, they've nailed Halo perfectly really, but I dunno, this is what the 6th Halo game now? It all starts to get pretty samey don't it? I know there's a niceness to going back to an ip you're familiar with, but personally it's usually around this time into a franchise I start to get a bit weary of it.

I haven't played anything in this game yet which is too different to what I was playing back in Halo 3 for example.

If you're fine with familiarity you're going to love this, but I just expect more in this day and age. Maybe I'm just a miserable bastard nowadays. Hopefully the second half of the game will improve things.

Such a bitch to get through on Legendary, that level. "I'm done! I'm done! I... got shot in the back and I'm dead."

Once you discover the Plasma Pistol + Headshot combo though

I agree up to that point, but the mission after that is phenomenal IMO. It'd be in my top Halo levels
If it wasn't for the Warden fight in the middle
. Would have preferred a really good vehicle portion instead.

What with us having AI team mates and revives, I'm feeling brave and might shift the difficulty up from Normal
*gulp*

GAF exclusive, Halo 6 confirmed here first.

From what I've heard about Halo 6 and given the foundations laid by this game, I think it's going to be the definitive Halo title by far.

Halo 5 is on the right track though. It's good to have a 3 year Halo title again.

Really like the new Forerunner weapons. All of them are unique and useful on specfic enemies. Seems like they struck a good balance between the game modes.

I do miss the Scurbshot though.

It's how I feel about MS first party at times, solid stuff but a bit too samey

Are there any new weapons that we haven't seen or is it just the Hydra and Plasma Caster?

I get what you mean, but I guess they're at that point where part of your fan base want something new, and the other part is on standby to crucify them if they dare make any changes.

I personally thought that apart from the fantastic production values and story (possibly my personal favourite), halo has also never felt so good to play. Seriously, I never expected the improvement to be so big. I can't wait to see how it affects multiplayer.

This is probably more about you than the game. From my impressions, most people are saying it's not even Halo anymore, but something completely new. You're playing a first person shooter, the 6th mainline game in the series for a genre that has been solidly milked by annual releases. Of course it will feel 'samey'. But I mean the game has gone beyond just shoot, grenade, melee, you have friendly AI that you can control and direct, revives, multiple pathways.

I mean when you say you expect more in this day and age, what does that even mean? More what? That it's not a shooter anymore? Very few games ever change their genre entirely. So if you expect Halo goes beyond a shooter, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you're just tired of the series, as is your prerogative. Halo Wars 2 is coming out, maybe that will scratch your Halo but not play like Halo itch.

Hey everyone when I was booting up the game I would get the validate DLC error, so I was appearing offline to play SP.

I wanted to see if the MP was available so I went online and started the game and now I didn't get an error about DLC but it says my gamer tag at the bottom right, and "offline" ... But I'm online? Is anyone else experiencing this? Something seems to have changed

is there any chance of marty coming back ? the ost is great, better than expected but theres only one marty

I'm gonna say no. I'd love Marty back one last time, but if Reach was his final Halo send-off, it's still fine by me. Maybe a guest track, but even then, he's audio director and co-founder of his new games company. Doubt he wants to go back to Halo full time. From what I heard in the Sprints, Jinnouchi seems to be doing great. Gotta see how it is when the game launches.

He started his own game company so probably not anything more than a guest track if at all.

But aren't you kinda excited to hear what MARTY can do with something totally new? You're going to get that. Also my phone auto capitalizes MARTY.

Remember to tell your team to target big bads when you get stuck.

Stinkles, how is the game on Legendary with 4 real people playing in co-op? Is there just a ton more enemies and the difficulty just like it is in single player legendary? Just curious if 4 player co-op Legendary will be a real challenge.
