I love how NZers get stuff first.

I have bad memories of MCC NZ streams though... I remember posting about problems at midnight.

Halo 5 should be k.

this is not crazy talk

Retail is generally cheaper, and you usually get to play early. Plus you get a nice box and can trade in or sell on later if you wish. Win!
I'll give you that retail is cheaper, but digital certainly has advantages.

1. Can easily share games with my brother by setting up primary consoles.
2. I don't have to shuffle through my bookcase and open up the case, eject a disc, put the new disc in, and then put the old disc back in the case on the shelf. <--- Fuck this shit, especially for games that I play all the time in addition to other games like Destiny.
3. I don't ever have to go to a GameStop again.
4. Midnight launches are always at my house.
5. The console is generally more quiet with a digital download versus a disc.

I'll miss the manuals and the feeling of opening up a new game. But they ditched manuals years ago anyway. Remember the old Super Maeio World 100pg colored booklet it came with?

Even though I have physical steel books and cases for all the other Halos... I'm going digital this time. There's something a little sad about that I guess.

True, thankfully the only other games I'm really playing on my X1 at the minute are digital so the Halo 5 disc can just stay in permanently. It's funny you mention manuals, they just don't exist anymore :'(

Damn, tomorrow night we'll be playing Halo 5.

Damn.

Damn!

Got my pre-load completed last night. Can't believe it's almost here!

2 days to go until Halo 5 and Elite controller awesomeness!

A Heroic campaign run for me first before I jump into multi player. Then gonna be playing some Breakout first I reckon, I like the play style and love the aesthetic of the maps!

Much excite!

The story is always hit or miss with people, but there's no getting around how great this plays. I've put in probably 25 hours since 5 am Friday morning and I've loved every minute. MP living up to expectations will make this my favorite halo ever.

great to hear!

So I'm replaying some Spartan Ops through The MCC. Can I just say I think Shootout on Valhalla is one of the best things Halo has done. Real defend the Alamo type vibe. I love it. Relentless amount of banshees, hunters, and fuel rod enemy's. Just felt like real war against overwhelming odds. The second half of Spartans Ops was so much fun. I hope we get a Season 2 at some point in the future.

Are we allowed to talk about the whole Campaign or is that still under embargo?

Unless you're part of the press, or one of the people 343 gave a copy to you've never been under an embargo.

But if you do want to discuss the campaign in detail I'd recommend doing so in the Halo 5 spoiler thread.

The game is excellent so far. Just got done mission 4 of the campaign. The encounter design is so much better than Halo 4, and the pacing is great. The new movement options bring a lot to the table as well.

My only issue, while I love the new navigation and areas to explore, the "cimb up" mechanic can bring you to a lot of places that seem intentional, but are unfinished. The game feels like there are a few cracks in the seams here and there. I wonder if it was a bit rushed out.

As well, the baked lighting doesn't allow for any good dynamic light from gun flashlights. The crushed blacks make it difficult to see in spots. I know some sacrifices had to be made for 60fps though.

Nonetheless, despite these tiny nitpicks, the environment design, encounter design and control all feel like a much-needed step in the right direction. Really excited now to try out multiplayer when the game allows me to go online.
