I'm not hating on this game, but Bethesda seriously needs to hire new artists or something. These character faces look completely last gen. It's kind of embarrassing. And no, it's not the .JPG compression.

People keep buying their games so why should they hire better artists and pay them more?

I really hope they will bring a new engine for the new Elder Scrolls. I have no doubt that i am going to love this game, but these graphics are nothing to write home about. And the new TES is many years away from us, as BGS themselves said but this engine...it's over man.

I know it's not all about graphics but during E3 this year when they first showed the new Doom game and after that came Fallout 4...i was like.....ooooh what i wouldn't do for Fallout looking even remotely like that.

The crazy thing about these gifs is that nobody says at what framerate these mods run....It looks pretty nice, but it would be nice to see an HD video of a character actually running through these forests and facing some enemies. I've seen many mods of the original crisis too, but how does it run.

Yet, the bigger issue is how a game leaves so much GPU power on the table, that modders have to totally change the look of the game to look a generation ahead. Vanilla Skyrim looks nothing like this.

I play Skyrim modded like that with a framerate of 50-60fps at 1080p, that's on an i7 2600k and GTX 970, so CPU bottle necked slightly.

That's why there's so much GPU power "left over". They tailor their games for console since that's where the majority of the playerbase is. The biggest fans tend to gravitate to the PC versions though for the mods, and Bethesda rests easy knowing modders will take care of everything on the PC. That's not laziness though - even if they spent thousands of extra man hours on better PC visuals modders would just create alternate visuals to better suit their individual tastes anyway, especially given the limitless time modders have. They'll always produce better visuals than Bethesda could ever achieve, and they'll keep pushing it further as hardware improves over time. Better to focus on gameplay and content. Even Morrowind is looking amazing these days:

I get the feeling Beth has grandfathered a lot of their employees over the years and that's the primary reason for almost no tech innovation in their titles. I mean its saying something when the last effects from their games that wowed me were the lod of the cloud wisps on mountains in Skyrim, general lod for buildings in FO3, and the water and rain effects in Morrowind. It'll prob be till next gen or late this one that we actually see something approaching a next level of complexity, and of course it'll be ESVI that gets the treatment.

Graphically it's a ps360 game.
Okay, well let's just try to run it on a PS3/360 and see how that goes, shall we?

Come the fuck on people, it's fine to say you don't think it looks great, but can we please stop with the pointless "looks like a [INSERT PAST GEN CONSOLE HERE] game"?

don't worry, that's an idiotic comparison. Modded PC version vs unmodded console version.

This is what Fallout 3 looked like on consoles 7 years ago.

It looked like a standard PC shot of Fallout 3 to me.
And the FO3 shots you linked looked better than these FO4 shots.

but omonimo knows how graphic tech works and he says it looks like fallout 3 on ps3

Who are you to question this authority?

Okay, well let's just try to run it at the same exact settings on a PS3/360 and see how that goes, shall we?

What exactly ps360 couldn't handle graphically seen in this screen? Except the res. I ask to you honestly.

People like to exaggerate. Like the people that say things like "30fps is too slow and choppy".

Come on now, don't let other people's views affect you. A lot of people thought The Order 1886 was a load of manure here while it's one of my favorite games this year. Same with other games as well. Try to have an open mind. Everything in the world is disliked or criticized by someone.

Yea as stated earlier in this very thread I'm still picking it up just getting the PC version instead of PS4. Also glad I'm not the only one, playing through the Order 1886 again and yea its probably my favorite new franchise so far this gen, flaws and all.

Come on now. You are trying to say we need to be a graphic authority to point out the tech graphic seen in those screen it's absolutely feasible in the past generation?

Look I am also a dissapointed with FO4s graphic (mostly because I am a PC graphics whore), but many people tend to forget how FO3 (and NV) really looked/ran on PS3. Dentons Fallout screen was from the probably maxed out PC version. People should start to compare 'real' PS3 screens.
FO3 and NV were both only 720p, the game had even trouble to maintain a steady 30 fps in certain areas and the Aliasing was mind breaking. In direct comparision it really looks much better.

No you don't understood how graphic tech work. But believe it's just in mind if you feel better.

You may be right. It's a big, old, complicated world out there, and one can only understand so much of it!

I may not understand my experiences with these games in the way that you do, in the way that you understand my understanding of my experiences with them. I'll grant you that.

However, your deep understanding of arcane knowledge has not helped you in noticing that I have yet to try and argue with you. I'm not arguing with you right now. In fact, I'm pointing out that I have no desire to argue with you, since you have not noticed.

Perhaps you, yourself, will feel better in knowing that you really would have told me how things are, had I decided to join you in an internet fight.

Outside of shadows missing in the distance.....it actually looks fine to me. If the game runs good at all then I will be happy. Performance is severely needed after how bad FO3 was

I'd be way more okay with this if there weren't load times between towns, dungeons and the wasteland. But...
