People arguing about LeBron and Steph...so silly.

What is important we are right now watching an NBA with two players who can be in the conversation of the greatest players of all time. Appreciate it. This doesn't happen often.

It's been happening for the last 15 years.

It's not an overnight thing. This video of Steph in college shows how similar he is to the NBA version of Steph. Of course his handles are now A grade, and his defence is really good. Getting open for shots, he's always been good at and no one can shoot off the dribble like he can.

He had injury concerns early on his career. Then signed a now ridiculous 4 years extension @ $44m. Proceeds to play the next three years out of his mind including 54 at MSG, a Denver rout where GS were the underdogs, beat the three point makes for a single season twice, MVP and championship last year. In 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons he would have been top 10 if not top 5 player in the NBA. This season he's shooting more, maybe because Klay isn't 100% yet. I'd like to think its because at 69% true shooting, he's realised they'll win more when he shoots.

I dunno, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that when all's said and done with their careers, people will be talking about Lebron and Curry as all-time great players.

i dont think ive seen a dude in such a perfect system in which to maximize his strengths

he basically never has to try on defense thanks to draymond, iguodala and klay

Will they win 70 games? I wouldn't be surprised if they're so ahead of the pack by Spring that they rest their starters on and off for weeks before the playoffs.

Lebron is already in that conversation and Steph will be there if he keep up this magical production for another 3 years or win another title.

Steph is something we have never seen before. I wonder if what he does is reproducible or if he is one of a kind?

That isn't what the poster I was responding was saying. He/she was saying GOAT, which is while I chuckled.

i don't really follow sports but have been looking into this guy because im from the bay area and i believe he blew out his ankle and had surgery? i had the same thing done on outside of my ankle, everthing laterally was ripped apart. i had surgery with my own parts luckily but i am still not the same person athletically 19 months later and lots of rehab.

if i read correctly he has an ankle brace he supports and wears during games?

after looking over his comeback and the type of sport he plays it gives me hope, i wouldn't dare do the things he does. this makes me think i should buy his brace for support and continue to rehab.

I remember his last big surgery was just helping with scar tissue and "debris". There wasn't any structural damage, so you may have had something more serious. Curry's problem IIRC was more of a series of sprains rather than one big injury. But yeah, he wears braces on both ankles.

I also remember reading an interview with Curry's trainer where they worked a lot on strengthening his hips and glutes. The trainer was also an injury prevention guy and said that more strength in the core and hips helps prevent ankle problems.

Wish I could remember where I read it, I know this is kinda vague. It was something about offloading some of the stress on the ankles and transferring that to the hips when making sudden movements.

He just makes people look like fools.

like a video game come to life.

if you've ever played nba live back in the day with the sliders all the way up and give your create a player 99 in 3 point shooting, no matter how you press the shoot button and how awkward your shooting animation looked, it was automatic swish.

that's how steph looks. THE WAY HE RELEASES THE BALL LOOKS EFFORTLESS. HOW DOES IT ALWAYS GO IN AHHHHHHHHH

I can't make an argument against Steph being the best player in the world. I don't think he's playing the same game everyone else is.

For casual NBA fans it hard to appreciate where Curry has come from to be the best player in the league. I like this column by Zach Lowe. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/sticking-point-why-ty-lawson-and-stephen-currys-new-deals-matter/

A 3 year old article but it is interesting and relevant to consider these two players with the way the Warriors and Steph have stepped up to the next level while the Rockets signed Lawson and have lost their way after last season. But the killer part of article is this

The injuries, plus the former presence of Monta Ellis, have obscured Curry’s current skills and even scarier potential in a league increasingly the province of pick-and-roll point guards. Curry isn’t just a great shooter; he has a chance to be one of the very greatest shooters in league history, an annual candidate to join the seven-member 50-40-90 club, reserved for guys who hit 50 percent from the floor, 40 percent from 3, and 90 percent from the line in the same season. A pick-and-roll guard who can shoot like that transforms an entire offense;

I really like Zach Lowe's writing. And I love that, even coming off the injury and signing (at the time) a pricy deal, Lowe recognized that Curry's worst case scenario was a poor man's Steve Nash.

As I posted above LeBron was the best player in the league arguably 7 years in a row. Jordan, arguably the last 10 full seasons he played with the Bulls. Steph has already a accomplished a lot but his career isn't there yet.

Yeah, I agree with this. Also, Steph isn't a great defender. It's hard to put him in the GOAT conversation with a guy like Jordan, who was a top scorer AND a very good defender.

He's still amazing, though. I love watching the dude play.

Happy to see my thread bumped before I got back to it. After tonight's performance, that makes sense...

At this point, I'm going to start bullet-pointing this ridiculousness...Thanks r/NBA for links

-Curry sat out yet another 4th quarter. Yeah. He scored 40 points and sat the entire 4th quarter...again
-The dude scored 24 straight in his 28 point 3rd quarter. Yup.
-That 40 points came on 18 shots, he started 2/5 and went 12/13 after that. 8/11 from three.
-It's the beginning of December and this motherfucker has already made 102 threes.
-He now has 5 20 point quarters through 20 games .Again, Westbrook led the league with 4 during the entirety of last season.

I just laughed when I watched that 3rd quarter live. It's just absurd at this point.

Look at this bullshit.
And this bullshit that came soon after

Averages 35 points a game without playing fourth quarters...

There's no impressive statistic you can make up about him or gsw that I wouldn't believe at this point.
