Curry is ridiculous. I hope Golden State somehow goes undefeated going into Christmas. The Christmas day game versus the Cavs would be insane.

the final minutes of that 3rd quarter were surreal. it's amazing how fast curry can turn a game around.

He has way too much space to make his throw. They should shove someone in his face all game long and we will see if he can still make the throws.

just saw this on reddit, holy shit

Hes on pace to make 400 threes this season

I haven't caught much NBA over the past few seasons but it's great to see him recognized for his play. I remember the year he was drafted, it seemed like everybody was trying to find a reason why they didn't need a ridiculously great shooter on their team. Minnesota taking two guards directly before him (Are either of them still around?) has got to go down as one of the worst draft decisions in history, even if he didn't set the league on fire immediately out of the gates.

Are you kidding? Curry was by no means a sure thing coming out of Davidson.

He wasn't a sure thing because teams found reasons to ignore him because GMs love to feel smart. So instead Minnesota drafted both Johnny Flynn and Ricky Rubio to play his position and Golden State gets to still laugh about it today. I'm not saying he should have been #1, but teams talked themselves out of somebody they knew could do one thing great because they wanted to draft on potential.

Pretty sure those would likely fall under one of those other lines underneath.

There could be other cases of guys that trailed off, or didn't complete a season. There's lot of freak statistical runs over short periods by guys who didn't keep it up over the long haul

Not that I think Curry isn't going to set the record

Never seen anything like him before. The thing is, players have to press and bite on his pumpfakes 30 FEET out. So, what do you think happens, when you mix in lethal handles and all around floor game? He's a cheat code.

I hate when analysts talk about how you stop Curry. Yep 29 NBA teams just can't figure out that you have to 'body him up'. But you, studio guy, have it figured out.

He's just too good.

You don't think that's what teams try every time they play him? Dude has such a quick release he can make space himself and his pumps open up other players for wide open shots.

lol, this made me chuckle

I've heard that talking point so many times. people always bring up the Jordan Rules like it's somehow relevant to a dude whose shot you have to respect close to the fucking half court line.

Exactly, to this day I'm still baffled how quick his release is. Basically no time to react or you end up fouling him.

One motion shooting is deadly.

He measures in centimeters
Curry has 100+ 3s in 20 games, the second fastest player to 100 in a season was Ray Allen in 31 games.

Also, more graphs:

That article is very interesting as it makes an argument that Curry should probably take every shot (even when guarded) and the warriors would be even better. Obviously there have to be limits (physical exhaustion, off shooting nights, quadruple teamed, etc) but the stats are compelling. He is breaking the NBA and it isn't clear where the ceiling is here.

Johnny Flynn was a dumb pick but Ricky Rubio at the time was an incredibly young prospect who had already proven himself in the highest level of professional play outside the NBA. Rubio isn't really a bust either. He's a really good pass first PG. Coming out of Davidson, there were concerns that Steph couldn't convert to PG. I mean for every Steph Curry, there are many many more college shooters that couldn't hack it in the league. For example.

man, I realllly wish I gave a shit about basketball so that I could fully comprehend the craziness that is going on here. Just the videos alone are ridiculous without context.

I want to see Steph pull up from halfcourt during a game. I came across an article interviewing their player development coach, Brandon Fraser and he said that Steph regularly drills and hits the halfcourt shot at 60% during practice. Apparently he can pull up for it just like he'd pull up for a normal jumper.

Uncontested, sure. That's not a smart shot even if Steph is taking it.

I dunno if Jimmer is a good example. He's been straight up murdering the D-League.

But that could just mean there's a huge gap between the D-League and the NBA. :V

Seriously, This is the kind of stuff I've always expected to see from LeBron or Kobe or any other superstar that is the next MJ (even MJ doesn't compare to this craziness). Give me solid proof that a guy is special, don't shove it down my throat and say it's true just because..

(I'm not saying anything against anyone, just saying that Curry defines next level; evidenced by this thread)

The biggest thing about Steph is that he isn't just a great shooter. Man has arguably the best handles in the league, and he has the scorer's mentality. He looks to score every single time the ball is in his hands, and he will pull up when given the slightest bit of space.

Steph is so aggressive as a shooter that he requires the utmost attention every single moment, that makes defensive against the Dubs impossible. You can't just leave a man in the NBA open every trip down the court. But you can't let Steph dictate with a single man on him. You can't play too rough on him, and give free points to the Dubs. It's not fair.

So many in the Minnesota sports media talk about the foolishness of taking Rubio over Steph. It was Flynn that was the real mistake. I remembered being elated for a few minutes that the Wolves would have Rubio and Curry. Then they took fucking Flynn. Pretty typical for the Kahn era of course. And as much as this current core is fun, I would've loved to see Rubio, Steph, Love, healthy Pek and literally anyone else at the 3. That would've been a fun lineup.

Oh well. TOOOWWWWNNNNNSSSS!!

He's been terrible as an NBA pro though. My point was he checks all the boxes that Steph was coming out of college and he didn't turn out anything close to what Steph is. He just couldn't convert to PG in the NBA.

I'm just glad that the NBA or sports in general has a new "phenom" type player. I love seeing the Lebron's, Kobe's, Federer, etc etc play.

The fact that he's pulling up like 3 feet after half-court and draining 3's consistently is breaking my mind.

Agent Icebeezy

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
I love the fact that once the ball is leaving his hand, he's backpedaling because he knows the ball is going in.
