The opposite.
Nope, and being realistic the PS4K is probalby gonna be a 1.5x to 1.75x perfamnce increase at best.
Not really. Even with these upgrades PC will be a good bit powerful.
However I will say this - Resolution and framerate may no longer be advantages anymore. PC will look visually better but 60 fps and 1080p I think were always the big draws for PC gaming for me and that will no longer be a factor if games are targeting 30 fps on ps4 and 60 fps in PS4K.
The exact opposite actually. PC has never looked more attractive.
yupI thought one of the cons of PC gaming was upgrading every few years for a few hundred dollars.
It's basically nearly every advantage of PC gaming without the PC hassles.
PS4 teraflops 1.8
HD7870 (a GPU I just upgraded from) 2.56TF
Nvidia GTX 970 (stopgap GPU I just bought til new PC gpus come out) 4.2TF
So double a PS4 is 3.6TF, putting it at 15% slower than a year and a half old lower-high end graphics card... Yep, high end PC gaming is truely quaking in it's boots.
For me the opposite is true.
I bought a PS4 for Bloodborne. If the whole PS4k thing is true(not true as in it exist but more like that it will soonish hit the market) I'll regret that purchase.
Would make me think twice about investing in a console in the future. I was banking on my past experiences with Sony console which had very good exclusive support and good console lifespans.
I'm primarily on the PC so if Playstation turns into an upgrade thing makes me question why bother.

I'd say PC is more likely to be a threat to PS4k. I'm definitely considering to go more for PC now when consoles turns into PC lite.
This post is worth a second look.
This is what we're dealing with here. Not people with personal opinions, but people willing to type whatever supports their chosen thing to be a fan of.
Are these even real discussions, or some kind of meta-discussions that are little skirmishes in an unseen war?
That makes no sense, assuming they provide forwards compatibility for at least one iteration, and the iterations are 3 years apart.
No, it's actually made PC gaming more attractive to me.
The truth. The exact opposite actually. PC has never looked more attractive.

Why doesn't it make sense. I want my console to be just a box for exclusives.
I don't want to think about having the optimal experience there too.
It's enough for me when I do that for my PC.
But it's worth it for me on the PC because it's not only a place to game for me but also my work station.
I just have no interest in playing the cutting edge game for something that I treat as an exclusive machine.
It would make me wait to the very end of a console cycle and then get the best version to play through exclusives.
I'm usually not an early adopter(if bloodborne people still count into that group), but like I said I was banking on my past experiences with Sony, which might turn out to be a mistake. But that's my fault. There's rarely any advantages to getting things early when it comes to these machines.

But no PC game looks as goods as UC4?

PS4k is going to push more people into exploring PC option imo. Buy a new GPU and toss in your rig and get benefits in all games, not patched ones.
If getting the best version mattered that much to you, then you probably already PC Game. If it was a consideration you wanted, then upgrading every 3 years and selling your old system is now an option. If you just want to upgrade every 6 years, you just skip each other release.
Other than the complications in customer education of the new setup, it has the possibility of making hardcore gamers happy by having, ultimately, less of a gap between current best graphics and console graphics.
