Ratchet & Clank - Review Thread

One thing I've learned here on GAF is to never take people's play times as gospel. I remember people swearing up and down that The Order took them 3 and half hours when it took me almost 8. The Last of Us could be cleared in 12 by some here when it took me close to 20 hours.

Point is everyone plays differently. It'll be different for a lot of folks.

This site is good for average play time.

3D platformers are possibly my favourite genre, so I'm very happy that this is reviewing well. Hopefully Ratchet and Yooka-Laylee lead the way for a 3D platforming resurgence!

Good reviews. After FUSE, Into the Nexus and Sunset Overdrive, I was beginning to think Insomniac were losing their touch.

So happy to see those reviews. Ratchet was a big part of my childhood so hopefully this introduces a whole new generation to Ratchet.

Well done Insomniac.

Ratchet is more of an action game than a platformer, but yeah, hoping for the same.

Just, fantastic. I cannot wait to play this game! It's gonna be so relaxing coming home and playing some Ratchet. Fuck yeah!

I really hope that this game succeeds and it can usher in the revival of this style. Can we get a PS4K Jak & Daxter/Sly/Crash Bandicoot????!!

Can't wait to enjoy the fuck out of this game though.

Sunset Overdrive was great though, so was Nexus other than the framerate.

I wasn't a big fan of it. The game really opened up after unlocking the Air Dash, but it felt like a chore to get through until then.

And then the humor was just so hit or miss without the character sounding like a douche.

Didn't play the other two but I thought Sunset Overdrive was an awesome game. Reviewed pretty well too.

For me, the gameplay kind of trumped everything else, I also loved the asthetic. Definitely agree about the humor, it was about 60/40.

It's not just numbers though, it could be a letter as well, so 36 possibilities for each and hence 36^2=1296 different combinations.

I think the second to last one is either a 9 or a 7. And the last one could be anything. So I guess that leaves 72 values to try? o_O

Ahh, sooo not such a good idea then lol.

I was going to wait for this game to come down in price.... But with all these great reviews and wanting to support this kind of game development...... Preordered. Thank you Amazon, $32 woo!

younplay as a male or female hero in the game?

But I'll never back down from defending Nexus or Sunset, both are great. Sunset is criminally under appreciated. Nexus too given it launched at the wrong time/platform with no support.

Really looking forward to playing a platformer game again. The reviews are stellar - your success is well deserved, Insomniac!

Special shout out to Karak (aka ACG on YouTube). I always look forward to your reviews because they provide excellent insight on the game's design and mechanics without being overly biased or spoiling the plot for your viewers. Kudos, brother!

Amazon must have received more preorders than expected because my copy isn't arrive until this Thursday with Prime two day shipping, and I ordered it on the 8th.

Was Nexus as a ps4 launch title ever a possibility? Not that I'm complaining that the game was made because I love it, but yeah it came out at an awful time and I'm not sure how that happened.

Agreeeedddd on everything.

I think Nexus should have been a PS4 launch game. Do you guys kinda get this idea too?

I'm glad at least this new game seems to be getting a ton of push, I'm seeing it everywhere.

Same here. My backlog is ridiculous, but I want to support this game.

Same. Mine is insane, yet I pre-ordered to support these guys. I also really enjoy the series. Never played them on the PS2, first time was the PS3 games that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I'd rather they make a new R&C game next. This is basically a reboot.

Agreed. Probably the direction they will head if the movie and game are a success to garner sequels. The 'reboot' gives them a foundation to build upon the lore/canon, etc..

Plus having not played the first game, this will be a treat for me, that will be skipping most of my backlog and being played right away tomorrow.

Cool little, "Did You Know Gaming?" video on the series...

Really thought it would review in the mid to low 70's so I'm definitely impressed here. Even if there are few dud reviews here and there, I doubt it would be scoring lower than 80 on Metacritic.

Best wishes.

Preach on, man. Sunset is probably my favorite game of the generation so far. I would lose my mind if you guys ever made another one.

Well then, you know what you need to do.

PS4 release of a sequel. ;)

I truly believe it was a victim of the platform.

I thought only sandbox open world games reviewed remotely well these days due to the demographic of gamers and reviewers lust for quantity over quality in open world mmo titles over a more linear story driven approach. Rachet & Clank is an anomaly
:p /s

Great reviews so far.

Those last two characters combined offer 36 x 36 possiblities.... that's probably not a good idea.

Just phone Sony support.

Also I have to say... lol brah.... why you do dis? XD

Ugh.. just contacted support and they said I have to take a picture of both sides and then wait 2-3 business days.

:(

Welp, guess Ratchet will wait.

I played as a male. I should have checked out the female voice though.

They were good games, but I didn't quite enjoy them as much as Tools of Destruction or A Crack in Time.

I'll definitely be sure to pick this up though. The demo I played at PSX was just great.
