America barely had a military presence during it so it's not as much of a staple in our pop culture as it is for Europe. Not a shocking concept. How many French or British citizens can talk at length about the Vietnam war?

Everybody watched Tour of Duty, :p

Did they really had shaved head in WWI with the looks of 2016 era ?
Is this a serious question? Shaved heads on a soldier are like a standard. Pretty much every war movie ever has the mandatory scene of the soldiers all sitting in a line getting their heads shaved.
And there really is no "look" of a shaved head. A shaved head is a shaved head is a shaved head.

I am amazed by the amount of people without knowledge of WWI... is it because it wasn't totally exploited by Hollywood and videogames?

Grab a book or watch some documentaries people...

In American school it definitely wasn't covered as much. It was glossed over and we moved straight to WW2

WW2 levels of drama are through the goddamn roof for something that actually happened, it's unbelievable. Can't blame people for comparatively ignoring WW1. Trenches tend to make for boring realtime-combat too.

WW1 is barely, if at all, covered in American schools from my experience so not surprised at people being confused about it.

The best part of these threads are and will continue to be the "Wtf, don't you people know anything about WW1?" posts.

Little hint: Nah they probably don't. WW1 gets no respect in typical US education. It's basically "Things were messed up, trenches and gas for 4 years, BUT YO LEMME TELL YOU BOUT HITLER THOUGH."

It looks like he has another gun hanging at his waist (on his right side, below his shooting arm). That gun kinda looks like this:

So, zeppelin=WW1, handgun and small submachine = WW2? alternate history or time travel?

The MP18 was fielded in 1917 I'm pretty sure. Also the Mauser is a C96 which is from 1896, there's nothing WW2 there at least to me besides maybe his uniform.

Yeah lol,

Somebody needs to search French-Indochina war. Hell we should have learned something from the French

Ok, so what do you guys think we're getting?

Starwars graphics with less destruction?

Starwars graphics with less players, simpler settings, and more destruction?

Or?

I'm really excited to find out. I think this could be a really huge leap for the franchise. I sure hope so.
They better dial destruction up or I might be out.

People are saying they're out before they've even seen it in action lol

Duh WWI = boring! Who wants to sit in a trench for hours upon hours? Eating Goober peas and shitting our cyber pants from dysentery... Boring. That's all WWI was. That's it. From my vast knowledge on the subject, it's boring. I can see no reason why one of the largest game companies decided to use a shitting pants war for their flagship. I'm out!

So in a market over saturated with modern military shooters with its aim set on futuristic military shooters, going back to the past wouldn't be something fresh?

You make it sound like there's a plethora of recent AAA WW2/WW1 shooters.

I never sad that it is not fresh. But this world War 1 / world War 2 setting is so fucking boring to me. I played all the MOHs, CODs, Band of brothers, and what not. I really liked bf3 with its setting in the "now" or very near future. Black ops 2 was already too futuristic for me though.

Not for WW1. No thanks.

Anyway, I hate leaks like this. It's cool if its weeks in advance, but the day of? Who cares?

Maybe you travel through time and it's really time splitters battlefield? Or the WW1 era is just the beginning of the game and you get trapped and frozen in solid ice and thawed out later and you have to take out the enemy and his super villain group called hydro.

Super interested how they're gonna mix WW1 with BF's unique brand of craziness. Glad they're not just doing future warfare stuff at least.

You can but in doing so you risk being ignorant to racial issues if you portray everyone as happily getting along in the same battalion.

If racism isn't the point of the piece (which it obviously wouldn't be for BF5) I think portraying racism accurately probably does more harm than ignoring racism and being inclusive as a result. I don't really see what a blockbuster shooter has to gain by accurately including period racism. Hell most WW2 games shy away from including, you know, genocide.

What a predicament. That visual identity they've established with the blues and reds and sparks and smoke. It's so very "modern" and doesn't go with oldey times at all, but they have to keep doing it, cause that's the brand.

Wonder what role zeppelins will play, the B17 role, or more like carriers.

They use those colors/design for the cover art but the games look different

? Looks like a standard buzz cut but you might wanna sit down for this one;

The fact that standard buzz cut took a rise among men of today and seen on movies to mercenaries, police special forces, antagonists (Deadpool - Ajax), I was actually expecting for something like to what you post. Keep it classy with history. Strangely, BF4 official keyart had something near to that.

Holy shit this is beautiful. It could end up being a burning trashpile but at this point I'm on board for literally any setting that's not near future or modern day.
