Rumor: Xbox Streamer ($99), Xbox TV ($150-$175), Xbox Mini, & Xbox 2017 coming, more

This is kinda fucked up to be honest.

MS releases a new generation in 2017 alongside Nintendo, Sony releases a 0.5 console this year, when will Sony release a new console generation then?

Who knows and why is that Microsoft or Nintendo's problem?

Sony's doing what its doing and we'll see if it works out for 'em. Hell, we'll see if any ot what the big 3 are doing works out at all.

Did I listen to the same podcast as the rest of you?

He said

1) Xbox streaming stick, similar to a Chromecast.
2) Xbox TV similar to a roku/apple TV NOT a XBO slim.
3) Xbox new box, VR enabled, revealed spring 2017, based on new architecture
4) Xbox 1.5, 4k output revealed later this year
5) Xbox interface being worked on as a BPM for PC.

Apart from the Xbox 2 rumour, which he was incredibly flaky on, it sounds utterly disappointing. The XBO on PC is interesting, but honestly was only a matter of time before that happened.

He backtracked not even 30 seconds later on half of those things.

Besides, what would be the point of 4 different new XBO devices and announcing them all at the same time? That's overkill and will likely gross out consumers.

Jup, my parents are looking for a cheap and easy way to stream Windows to their old ass TV, so if the Xbox Nano is exactly that, it could be a good selling product for Microsoft imo.

Such a better assault on the living room than their attempts with Xbox One. I'd be tempted for the bedroom tbh.

I think Brad got this one wrong. Why would you have 2 streaming devices without gaming capability? Also see Tom Warrens post. (but maybe there is a 3rd slim coming)

I think that's the separate Xbox 1.5 being talked about for this year.

The implication of the streaming devices is that they're turning Xbox into an entertainment brand a la how the Kindle Fire is a tablet even though the original is an e-reader.

That's a lot of different devices. Hope they won't all be called "Xbox", or at least have a full name that is explicit enough to differentiate them from each other.

I'm confused at where people are suggesting the excitement for E3 would come from in all this.

E3:
-Chromecast-style streaming device, presumably for low power games or media.
-Slim Xbox; same power, different form-factor.
-More xbox one-like interface for PC app.

Future (Next year some time):
-Xbox 2

So, that sounds like a pretty boring E3, albeit, a more interesting next year. What am I missing?

Seems odd to have both. Unless the 2017 reveal is for a 2018 device that is again an iteration rather than a reboot.

As many said we might be moving to iterative boxes every 2 years or so rather than full new gen reboots every 6-8.
I thought about it being 2018 but than I don't think they would announce it in spring 2017 and not release it for the holidays. Even if its just another iteration that's still overkill that's one every year

So this is the last generation where it will be easy to own multiple consoles. With these and other rumored iterations it really feels like going forward you pick a camp and stick with it.

Eurogamer.it IS NOT the real source about the 10 TF Xbox. You should read the article. You will be surprised who the real source is.

Some dumbass like MisterXmedia

Wait are you telling me their source is someone as biased as misterXmedia ?The guy who still thinks that the Xbox One is 2 times as powerful as a ps4, the same guy ?

How does XBox on PC work? Is there even an XBox store on PC anymore?

Is it meant to be a full PC interface with the UI of XBone?

I imagine it'd be the equivalent of Steam Big Picture, but built into the Windows 10 Xbox application. The Windows Store is the Xbox Store now iirc, that's where you buy games and apps.

I know people will be disappointed that there won't be an Xbox 'Two' this year, but that is a great thing. It means the Xbox Two could have some seriously good upgrades.

They should wait until 2018, the upgrades could be even better.

Them not rushing garbage to market is certainly great news, but a year's delay is a long time when the spotlight and mindshare they have in the console gaming space is already diminishing rather quickly. I don't think them just releasing a console with 'more power' is really going to solve all these problems overnight.

If anything, i'm already dreading 20 minutes of their E3 press conference this year being aimed at watching TV and streaming. Next year promises to be interesting at least.

Edit: I just read that there's also going to be an Xbox 1.5 this year? The fuck.

Seems so disjointed. Like it's 4 or 5 different rumors smashed together all describing the same 1 or 2 things rather than 4 or 5 devices.

Thought i'd conceptualize the hints from the stream to make them a bit easier to digest, yes it was a nasty 5 minute scribble

10 teraflops would be an insane upgrade.

That's ~10x the performance of current gen.

I believe that what he said for this E3 is accurate.

Everything beyond that was supremely sketchy and sounded like he had no clue.

ie their Fire stick/Fire box

The actual "xbox" as we know it news, is as up in the air as it ever was.

Look back through my history on the subject, I have been speculating a very powerful box with an Oculus partnership for months now. Everything he "thinks" might be coming and he used that word "thinks" a lot, is no more than a common sense speculation based on what Sony are doing and what Phil Spencer has said recently.

One thing I did notice is he says he thinks MS will not announce a more powerful xbox. If Sony do, then that's a bad move.

Xbox 1.5 this year and then another upgraded Xbox next spring? That seems like a horribly crowded time frame to release all of this. Should probably wait a little bit longer to allow the two time to breathe if the rumor is true.

Do we know sales stats for the Windows Store? I forgot it even existed.

Good point. But every year seems way overkill. Though phones release every year and sell. Some people can be on 2-3 year cycles, and some might be on the 1 year cycle. As long as they all play all the games, there's quite a bit of resale value in a one year old device, again like phones which still work very well for several years.

I may have misread but I thought it's only announcement for new device next spring. That could still be a 2018 release date.

Sorry if that type of information is out there i'm not aware of it.

No one said Xbox 1.5 this year.

EDIT: Wait... he did say that? I'm confused now.

I think there was a sixth device that's an Xbox 1.5 for Fall, and that the other thing is a Roku TV box.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the situation.

The fire TV/ Fire stick are really different SKUs of the same device. I'd imagine it would be the same with the Xboxes.

The Xbox 1.5 is going to be an elite with 4k output, again really just a different Xbox one SKU. Probably won't match the PS4k in specs because what's the point?

The Xbox VR will be a new console generation.

And consumers have never complained about having more choices. Pick the one you want, ignore the rest.

I mean if done right it could work but damm if owning multiple consoles will be dead in the past unless your swimming In cash

That's about right. Whether or not Device #2 will actually play Xbox One games or have a disc drive remains to be seen but nice job nonetheless

Pretty much. They've gotta use that Oculus partnership - it'd be a shoe-in for next generation, but yeah definitely earlier if they do a One.5.

There's absolutely zero sense to this paired with the rest of those rumors. You can't release a 1.5 this fall, and 2 a few months-to-a-year later. Unless they're going for a yearly releases I guess...

Only one of those upgraded devices must be true. It just doesn't make sense.

If anything this has made things even more unclear. Having all these devices around the same time would be confusing to the general consumer.
