Man. . What's up with crafting lately?
I...I don't know, when I play GoW I just want to hack and uh, slash. But the franchise seems to have received a drastic reboot and I don't know how to feel about it, indifferent I guess because the rest sounds pretty good in my book. I just hope the combat stays true to its roots, I don't want it to become something like Ryse.

So instead of a an action beat em up game that we're seeing in less and less of, we get what seems to be just another modern third person action game.

Im hoping they change their minds.

Also why is making a game like so many other games out right now being considered a risk?

Lol, I wouldn't count on that.

I completely agree with your point, though. I don't understand why everybody is celebrating homogenization of gameplay styles.

This sounds fucking incredible, I'm legit shocked to see the changes they're making with this game. It's exciting and I can't wait to see more of it. This is gonna be divisive as hell for the core fantasy, but I feel it also marks a bold new direction for the series. Perfect way to rejuvenate the God of War series.

In-depth RPG systems? No load screens? A genuinely interesting premise? More Kratos?

I'm sold. Just give me the release date.

"This game is about Kratos teaching his son how to be a god, and the kid teaching Kratos how to be human again."

I can't believe I am so excited for a God of War game.

Its great they are finally adding emotion into god of war, the relationship felt real. Granted the past GOW games yes he had a wife/daughter but he was pissy all the time, this Kratos is a breath of fresh air and is somewhat nuturing and calm.

However is it his biological son or an adopted son? Kratos always refers to the kids mother as "that woman". Maybe the Mother was a god, and the child is half god and Kratos is kind of teaching him the ropes which pisses of the Norse gods because Kratos killed all the greek ones.

Also god bless Cory. GOW2 was my fav GOW, also during the entire development of that one he looked tired as fuck, he looks like a person who has slept now lol

This could have been another "square-square-triangle" type game and I would've still been hyped. To know that they are going beyond that is even more exciting.

This is the most thrilled I've been about a game in quite a while.

"Kratos believes that being a god is a disease, and that rage is a side effect of that disease, and he’s terrified that he’s passed it on to his son.”

This is the kind of shit that pisses me off about Kratos. The stupid motherfucker is so oblivious.

Fucker, there were plenty of Gods, and only two of them were naturally rageful. You and Ares. All the others were chill until you released Pandora's Box of shit and corrupted them. And even then, only Zeus was irrationally rageful. The others were pissed because you shit on their lawns by doing shit like killing Hades' wife or wrecking the world. Some weren't even mad, like Aphrodite and Hermes and Apollo, and were just happy to do whatever they wanted.

The rage isn't a God problem, the rage is a you problem. Even when he's allegedly reformed, the moron can't take a hint that maybe something is actually his fault.

I imagine I will look like this by the end of the game... Especially after reading this line.

"This game is about Kratos teaching his son how to be a god, and the kid teaching Kratos how to be human again."_

Barlog assured me that the series isn’t shrugging off its bombastic, cinematic roots. The reason they didn’t focus the E3 demo on a huge, spectacle-filled set piece is that it's a given that the game will have those.

Do you see this, ND? Do you see how Uncharted 4 suffered so because you didn't heed this?!

Everything sounds great except that it's the same Kratos from the other games.

How are they going to explain the transition of the mythical entities and environments that existed for vast amounts of times seemingly transformed into completely different mythical elements that probably also existed for vast amounts of time.

Having Kratos come back is fine but it seems dumb trying to ties it back into the last God of War especially as the combat is completely different.

Crafting doesn't sound so crazy to me. It could just be a way to replace upgrades via red orbs.

Depends where they go with it and the RPG elements.

Its confirmed its his biological son in the IGN article.

This is going to kill the brand. GOW fans will go in expecting a GoW game and they will get something completely different. Should have just made it a new IP.

Thanks for branding us as so close minded. I think as long as the game is great GOW fans will love it.

What? Uncharted 4 had probably the craziest set piece in the entire series

For all I care Kratos could just have moved to the north and it happens to be norse mithology there. I really don't care about an explanation, I'm here for a completely different reason, don't have the will to look for plot holes and the "AHA!" Attitude.

Yeah, this does concern me a little.

One thing I have a hard time comprehending, how are you going to have these huge spectacle, bombastic moments where Kratos is murdering the shit out of something, when your little son is there in the corner.

Just doesn't really seem to fit.

Probably some cool tag team gameplay mechanics, really excited thinking about the possibilities

It wasn't as good as DMC or Ninja Gaiden for combat, but it was a well-rounded game, which those are not. It had a good story (for the time), incredible visuals and spectacle, good level design, a well-paced mix of combat, traversal and puzzles. Nobody managed to make a GOW clone anywhere near as good as GOW and then people stopped trying and now nobody is going to make that kind of game.

GOW didn't have the depth of its Japanese counterparts but its action was still very fluid and beautifully animated. The first thing that stood out to me in this new demo is that the combat didn't look much better than Hellblade. That's a problem.
I want to see some of the puzzles from this new game before I jump completely out. All 4 of the PS3 GoW games had some really excellent puzzle design. If there's a hint of that in this new one then I may bite. If it's Uncharted-tier puzzle solving then I'm out.

The game is still Rated M and he's still trying to teach his son to be a god. Nothing is off limits.

I don't think there's been much of a moral issue with Kratos killing monsters. Half of the time he's saving people when he kills those monsters. The moral problem was things like killing civilians for health, needlessly killing people who are ever-so-slightly against him, and being motivated by rage and revenge.

I hope Kratos will be less of a dick in this one. In GoW3 he was insufferable and brought on the end of the world because fuck mankind, I need my revenge.

While I loved the new direction and Im completely hyped for this new GoW I cannot say I didnt enjoy all the madness in GoW 3 lol
It was amazing !

This different take on God of War is interesting and last night demo was great. Gotta wait and see how everything unfolds, but I'm definitely in.

It all sounds damn good...except I worry about the son tagging along the whole game. I feel like I'll get annoyed with him. Hopefully he is well implemented.

I'm expecting at least one to have some convenient moment where they're separated briefly. Like the son has been taken by some monsters or something and Kratos just tears down a mountain to find him.
