What does Mighty No. 9 bode for ReCore?

Inafune's involvement probably means little to nothing regarding the game's overall quality.

The better question would be "How does the heavy involvement of Armature bode for Recore"? And I have my doubts.

Could it be that -- and before I get jumped on for "suggesting" this, I'm just speculating -- perhaps Inafune was working on "paid" gigs like this, which led to the delay and/or quality decline in Mighty No. 9?

You never know.

THIS

After their Batman game, that was also peddled with "From the creators from Metroid Prime", I don't really have any faith on them.

ReCore looks like a solid mid 70s game. I don't think Mighty No. 9 will affect the reviews, or the game, one way or another.

Nothing as far as I'm concerned. One is a game backed by ignorant, overly passionate consumers while another game is backed by a smart publisher with experience. The realities of game development and marketing hit MN09 hard and those are problems that MS won't make.

Whatever problems ReCore has won't be the problems MN09 had. It's a different game by a different studio with different expectations. Don't look at Inafune for anything regarding ReCore.

*looks at Fable Legends*

*turns away and looks at Phantom Dust*

The gameplay I watched had bad animations and shooting, and the combat arenas looked very dull without any kind of variety besides their size.

The animations and mechanics wouldn't be much of an issue if the game wasn't coming out in a few months. But it is.

Obviously the rest of the game could be designed very well ... But this is what they've used to show off to us and the press.

If recore is bad, it will have little to do with inafune.

soul sacrifice, yabia, and Asuras wrath only really used his name for publicity.

I'd imagine with recore, he helped with basic concepts and brokered the deal but outside of that he is pretty much a Suda51 that jumps between companies.

Besides. Recore doesn't look bad. It just doesn't look like it's worth even 40 dollars. Wait for a sale.

Like Shovel Knight, which is incredible? Being a multiplatform kickstarted game isn't excuse for being terrible.

Also Gunvolt was really underwhelming imo.

Did I excuse it being terrible?

Shovel Knight was a simpler game graphically (2D vs 3D) and only launched on 3DS, Wii U, and PC at first. A technically-nonambitious game targeting nonambitious platforms, with everything else being an afterthought. The port elsewhere came after. MN9 is a 3D game launching on everything at once which meant concessions had to be made to accommodate weak hardware, and the handheld versions coming after indicates that this is an approach that didn't work for them.

Gunvolt wasn't the best thing ever but I had fun with it. It was charming and gave some nice pick-up-and-play action. Games are supposed to be fun and I liked it, so it filled its purpose to me. It's a solid B game and there's nothing wrong with that.

I actually really liked what I saw.

Gimmie more "gamey" games pls.

Recore reminds me of those cult classic 3D platforming/metroidvanias from the PS2/GC era. The industry currently lacks those types of games.

Eh, it was on the Vita with a lower budget. I'm willing to give them a second chance. Anyways the gameplay shown in the E3 trailer looked like it could be fun.

Got a behind the scenes look with both Mark Pacini (the game's director) and Inafune at E3 for ReCore. I was told that Pacini and his team brought the gameplay and combat to the table, while Inafune and Comcept developed the platforming and the original concept.

It looked pretty good when I saw it.

Depending on his role as producer and what hat he wears could mean nothing. What is more telling is how the development unfolds.

Looks alright to me so far. I typically judge each game individually, regardless of who made or has their name slapped on it, though. Game itself needs more coverage since it's coming early though.

I know people hate it, but this never gets old to me. Last night I googled him because I was looking for something and saw this:

And lost my shit in bed while my wife was sleeping. I had to exit the room because I just couldn't stop laughing.

That aside. He's worked on other stuff, so MN9 definitely isn't the end all be all. I'd beware of his kickstarters from here on out though.

Don't really know why everyone here is so down on ReCore. Looks pretty cool to me and impressions from people who have actually played it have been pretty positive so far. I think how this game ends up will be mostly on Armature as they are doing the gameplay systems I think and this seems to be a more "gamey" game for lack of a better word.

The Metroid Prime team is all split up. I think some major players are at 343. Or at least they were back when 343 first started.
