... A lot of people probably.Of course. Who in their right mind wants 4k PS3 games?
He is right. Scorpio would allow pretty close to Nightmare settings at 1080p or >. What would be smart is maxing out the effects and employing a dynamic internal resolution AND upscaling. The game would look ridiculous.
everyone i know who has a 4k/hdr capable tv have said that hdr > 4k in terms of being able to see a difference in normal viewing. granted this is a handful of people.
Nice to see devs are thinking open mindedly about using the power and not just settling for the 4K resolution.
In viewing video content? Yes. HDR is amazing. In game content? That remains to be seen (besides people who saw it at E3). I think 4k is a huge boost for gaming, but I get the feeling it's the combo with the 4K resolution that will really make the most difference.
I'm always gonna veer on the side of lower resolutions and more effects/asset detail.
Scorpio should easily be able to handle games at 4K with current gen fidelity if not a bit higher.Of course. Who in their right mind wants 4k PS3 games?
I haven't seen HDR, but I would think that you're right. 4K is great for gaming. It gets rid of most aliasing on its own. But the performance hit is not worth it at this point, imo.
Viewing distance (to screen size) of the general console gaming public is certainly a factor, but people are going to yell about this and say only blind people can't tell the difference.

Give me 4k when enough headroom is there. For right now I want 1080p and all the graphics you can give me.
Completely agreed.
1080p/60 w/ bells and whistles.
maybe he should go to the opticians looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
This what I'm hoping these consoles will do since there's no way in hell im getting a 4K television anytime soon. They're too expensive and they'd till have very little content for it. I mean cable still doesn't do 1080p right?Completely agreed.
1080p/60 w/ bells and whistles.
I agree.
1080p ultra quality > 4K low/medium quality !
Is ridiculous to focus 4K with only 6 Tflops of power...
But with game development tied to previous consoles like PS4 and XB1, I don't a gigantic performance hit in the first few years. I don't see why resolutions above 1080p are a waste in those cases. The headroom should be there especially with dynamic resolutions becoming more popular. The games could definitely be 4k with the base resolution reaching 1080p in performance demanding portions of the games.
Yeah I'd rather they focus resources on better framerate than the extra pixels, at least with the current tech.
I think it's purely because resolution has been become a method to clearly explain the power of a console this generation. How many headlines have you seen highlighting the fact that a game was 1080p on one console, while on another console it was less than. It's the perfect way to show which box has more muscle and MS is capitalizing on that with 4K.So considering this in terms of viewing distance and actual benefits from 4K, why is MS using 4K as the major buzzword to spread around Scorpio. Is there that big of demand for 4K content? Is it more appealing that saying good graphics?
