New No Man's Sky Trailer: Trade

The item description reminds me of Dark Souls. And that makes sense, HG said that Dark Souls was a huge inspiration.

Ooh, the item description for the Fascination Bead claims that it is a "Golden metal sphere used to temporarily increase the processing power of electronic lifeforms." I wonder if that syncs up with the hints we've seen of having friendly robots helping you out. "Electronic lifeforms" is weird phrasing though.
Hints at a bunch of things
- Adds to the clues that we might be able to hack Sentinels, make them allies
- Maybe we'll see actual electronic lifeforms, like Horizon's robotic ecosystem. Procedurally-generated robotic creatures
- Perhaps the Sentinels are a naturally evolving form of mechanical life? Hence electronic lifeforms vs just machines or robots

These trailers are messy as fuck, but do the job I guess.

The UI is nice, the game is really pretty....still not a great deal of hype on my part , but if the reviews are good I think I might just take the plunge.

The Korvax look very robot-like so maybe it relates to them as well. Artificial lifeforms might've been a better choice. Then again, maybe it hints at just purely energy-based virtual AIs and such. Lots of these commodities are maybe related to the broader lore of the game's universe so we get snippets of that through the descriptions (like Dark Souls).

The Grahgrah commodity mentions "Vy'keen warriors", so it might be one of the alien races you encounter, or it might be a race (or class/stature) that's not actually in the game, but it broadens the lore somewhat.

A ship that could go underwater is something I never thought of and am hoping for now!

That would be nice, although if that was a special ability/tech, I would expect it to be in one of the slots for this particular submarine-shaped ship, so it's probably just a shape variant. They've mentioned before that you can't really fly your ship underwater (you crash), but things might've changed since then.

EDIT:

This is a good find, missed this. It actually says "Galactic Avg.", which further supports the idea we all start and play within a single galaxy.

has anyone ever asked hello games if they'd consider adding a 3rd person camera to the on foot sections?

i'm really bummed i won't be able to play this

Just like NPCs not being in the game, I'm hoping that's something they just didn't want to reveal. Considering this game has 100% ocean planets and deep deep seas, it makes sense to be able to modify your ship to be able to explore underwater without having to worry about oxygen or having to slowly swim through the dark

Not long now. Seriously can't wait. I hope the world is busy, and while hard to do, you can find people eventually

Man this trailer just pushes my buttons - while I will try not going out of my way to trade I expect this to become too much of a distraction. I need to see progress bars progress...

EDIT: I need to step through each trailer to see what everything says, though Im wondering if I should not spoil myself

It's always been a pretty game but it's turned into something absolutely gorgeous.

I keep swearing at my PS4 but it just won't let me download it the game some reason. Maybe I should just swear louder?

RPG elements plus endless (literally) exploration is just perfect and a lot more than I ever expected from NMS.

The way everything you shoot instantly turns to debris has been bugging me since the first look at the game. Everything else looks great to me, and I get that it would be hell to implement advanced physics on procedurally generated destructible terrain... but at least throw some kind of atomizing effect on it to smooth it over.

Mhmm give it to me Hello Games. Yes, cannot wait! The destiny inspired ui looks good. I didn't notice much pop up in this video.

I have the day prior to release off work for a wedding, and I'm wondering if I should take the 9th off as well and just lose myself in the game, because who knows when I'll have time to do that again.

It would certainly be great and would add a whole new dimension to the game. Some players would even only seek out full ocean planets as much as possible and turn it a bit more into Subnautica. :)

Yeah, it is a bit jarring. Adding particle effects might've messed a bit with performance (if the deformation is too quick and too frequent, so it quickly adds dozens of particle billboards etc.) and with visibility (if you keep digging deeper into something and only see particles, you kinda create a thick cloud of things and aren't really sure how deep you really are). Anyway, Astroneer has a really nice polygon smoothing effect with its terrain deformation, but it's questionable how well it would look with NMS's textured surfaces as opposed to Astroneer's smooth clean polygons.

So many icons now, starting to look like a Ubisoft game!

Here, the yellow icon is iron oxide (from the sentinel image), so looks like you can upgrade the scanner to show specific resources. The blue icon I assume is another resource, but I don't know about the question mark above it?

I'm still trying very hard not to get really fucking excited about playing this. It is looking very good now though.
I will remain resolute in waiting for reviews before buying it, even though I will probably buy it if it reviews poorly.

Straight up Destiny UI, but that's not a bad thing considering it's one of the best I've ever seen.

The in-game economy looks pretty deep, I can't believe different systems have different values for shit, that's actually so amazing.

Games like Elite: Dangerous have similar systems. ED has entire fan-made sites dedicated to turning a profit flipping goods while traveling between systems.
