Final Fantasy XV - Omen Trailer

rnnsxw.gif

Anyone played The evil within?
The Gif above reminds me of so many scenes from that game.

Another thing: Noctis sliding down with the dagger and his legs kicking remind me of the Warp animation to the different markers in the environment. Not sure if that was intentional, but it very well could be since DIGIC kinda threw in references for everything from 2006 - 2016 in the trailer.

Square's CG usually takes really good nods from the games themselves. I remember in XIV:ARR's opening with the Battle of Carteneau, I was surprised to slow the video down and see the paladin and warrior clearly using actual skill animations that could easily be overlooked.

Sorry, but at this point after watching countless time and time again this trailer, I can only try to relate to Final Fantasy Peasants and his Chaos theories videos / Chaos Noctis / Death magic / Noctis red eyes, etc. So much fall in lines of what he theorized and he saw Chaos Noctis before this video, you can check them here if you're interested :

And yes, I know most of what he says is BS, but I think he got some other things right from what we already got in footage, KG and this trailer.

Obviously, they are filled with possible spoilers, so watch at your own risks.

Chaos Theory part 1:

Chaos Theory part 2 and Noctis the villain (especially this part):

, Nifheilhem the good guys, Noctis will really fight Luna :

The mystery of chaos:

But for real, even if this is an omen from Regis, maybe not everything could be fake. Maybe some things in that trailer could be true, or really happen in the game (Think Noctis trapped in the Crystal by Ardin in the TGS trailer, why do you think he tries to trap Noctis, do he wants to unleash a power deep trapped inside him or something like that ?).

The very first scene (which is XV evoking Versus itself, but it's still connected):

9Tzrdg1.jpg

Noctis going solo against the Behemoth like the 2010 TGS trailer.
Noctis swimming out of the water in Altissia to a sky full of airships like in E3 2013.
Noctis fighting Stella (now Luna) in the DK Sigma trailer.
The iconic scene of Noctis tearing up an entire squad of Magitek Troops from the 2008 Cloud trailer.

There are nods in every scene for stuff from 2006 to 2016.

idk, the connections to versus are kind of weak.

noctis fighting the behemoth and magitek alone is unavoidable since the whole trailer is about him being alone. the station just seems to be a general station and has been a highlight of duscae, so it's not like they pulled it off the shelf after all these years. luna vs noctis doesn't seem to be an intentional nod to stella since them being intertwined by fate is still a major component of the story and
noctis killing luna is the ultimate result of his descent into madness.
it'd be stronger if they were presented as equals during the fight.

You're taking the Versus part too literally as usual. It combines aspect of media from 2006 to 2016, so yes, if you're focusing on just Versus it's weak.

And their editing in some cases is very deliberate. The swimming out of Altissia scene is unmistakable. It's used in like 2 seconds of a gameplay trailer from three years ago.

i just don't think there's anything there intentionally relating to versus and the points brought up are a reach.

That wasn't the point though. At least I don't believe it was. In this omen
Luna seemed like she was just defending herself and trying to get Noctis to come out of his madness while trying not to bring great harm to him, while Noctis in the throws of madness is fighting her as hard as he can in that fight. She was basically holding back for his sake.
That's what I took from it personally.

That's what I think as well. That's why I don't believe it had anything to do with Stella. It's specifically about Luna and Noctis in the context of the omen.

That's why I find the omen so fascinating
and tragic. Luna was so caring and kind-spirited that it proved to be her undoing. Betrayed by her own feelings and love.
I dunno. I really love it.
It adds more weight to the fight than a simple clashing of opposites.

I think the biggest clue is probably the "demons" words at the very end of the trailer. Its probably the only thing thats really ambiguous, that you cant simply hammer down like all the other allusions in the trailer.

Having chaos noctis be the one thats actually talking in the end fits in really well. Saying he's witness a lot of deaths and only looking toward to just one more before finally resting fits in with either him killing normal Noctis (probably creating a time/dimension paradox where the universe resets) or Noctis killing him ( being able to rest).

I think this game is going to be awesome

The closer we get, and the more we learn, the more I genuinely feel like this could be GOTY. There's just so much going on, and it feels like we're constantly learning of new things and/or seeing real improvements in stuff we knew about.

And I can't help thinking that there's significant chunks of this game that haven't been talked about at all.

I think on some level, I'm more excited than normal because no one knows. With it being worldwide, I won't be coming into the game fully aware of everything having already looked at impressions, reviews, etc from a Japanese launch months earlier.

Don't know if it's been talked about before but there is something else that has kinda made me curious.

Lets say that we all agree that the Omen trailer is just a vision of a possible dark future that Regis sees and decides to avoid at all cost. So, it's all just a vision that may or may not come true.

But what about those last few seconds? Those are from FFXV's reality, true? If so, then who is Regis talking to? And more importantly, who does this person wants dead and why? Assuming that the other person is one of
the past Lucian kings
, then why does he say that he can rest after that person is dead?

I think we've focused so much on the vision part that we kinda forgot to thought about the part with actual hints of story.

So...the last FF game i played was FF8...you know like squall...

This is my first trailer of the game and i saw 5 minutes of the gameplay video..IM SO LOST, what is the story here and do i need to know any background info before buying this?

That was a bad ass trailer but if i saw that without knowing much of the game I believe I'd have a totally wrong impression of it.

I would recommend watching Kingsglaive movie
(it was pretty good btw)
and the anime series called Brotherhood (some amazing backgrounds on main cast).

The movie literally finishes where the game starts.

No. Just go in blind. The Brotherhood Anime fills in some background on the characters, while Kingsglave deals with parts of the begining that had to be cut for time. However it seems like it will all be explained in game

The Omen isn't a dream but more like a future that Noctis is destined to happen. However, it seems like Regis doesn't want it to happen and so he kicks off the events of the game. This is presumably why the bros come with us, in order to make the Omen not happen.

So I think this trailer shows us the extreme end of what would happen to Noctis. The game will probably have Noctis struggling internally and maybe falling to this side but will probably be saved by the bros

That's what I think anyways

I agree. I think "dream" was a bad choice of word since I did say the same thing about it being a possible future in my post. I should have gone with "vision", so let me edit that part to avoid any further confusion.

But I actually wanted to focus more on this part:

What do you guys think about this? Any theories? My guess is that the person he wants to kill might be Luna since she is presumably the last Oracle of the world. If there is no Oracle then it means that world will fall into darkness and my guess is for whatever reason, world falling into darkness is what gives this voice the ability to finally rest.

For some reason my first thought was that it was the crystal talking but I don't think that's right lol, and yeah unfortunately I do think Luna's the one that mysterious evil voice wants dead.
