NPD - FFXV experienced the best console launch month in franchise history

Any interesting info you can give that we can't already infer from the PR/data we have?

Sure.

Average pricing for software is pretty strong, despite the discounting everyone is talking about.

HW pricing was weak. So although HW units were pretty good, unit sales didn't increase at a level where it could offset the drop in pricing.

3DS continues to do exceptionally well despite its age. Pokemon certainly helps.

Hot take - Nintendo would be able to sell more NES Classics.

Something about PSVR? (and thanks for the information!)

As expected of the first to launch simultaneously worldwide, which means this is basically not even a star to stick on the game lol

.

I saw they sold 14% more NES Classics than November. Which would put it at around 225K.

Add that 196K from November and they still haven't shipped 500K NES Classics to the US.

That's Nintendo for you I guess.

I loved it, I also really enjoyed brotherhood but haven't had a chance to watch Kingsglaive yet. I'm glad it did well for SE as it gives them a pretty great baseline for future entries hopefully not bogged down by a lot of the issues that plagued XV.

Eh. Pretty mediocre game. Sales seem about right considering how much money they invested in marketing and promotional material.

I mean, taste is subjective, but either you have a narrow sampling of the generation or you are a crazy fanboy.

I could accept it as someone's game of the year, but game of the generation??

Please, get over yourself.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
I am low key happy the game did well because the budget for the next FF will be that much better as a result.

Really hoping they manage to make another truly great Final Fantasy in the future that also isn't compromised by poor management, that stands up there with the best of the best (with a great story, art, characters, music etc.) like Final Fantasy 6, 8 and 10.

If they make XVI a game mostly about learning lessons from XV I expect it to be pretty fantastic. I worry if they want to reinvent the entire wheel again.

Not trying to dogpile, but you do know that NPD are just USA numbers right? Meaning that a worldwide launch is irrelevant.

why even come in here to post something like this. you just look silly.

As many complaints that I have with this particular title, I'm glad that the series still has some life and hope in it.

I would probably do the sidequests and endgame stuff at a later date when all the patches and stuff have been released.

Avatar bet?

PC version? We're talking about the remake.

I know what the bet is. I'm just saying Square had plenty of time to announce a PC FFVII port to Xbox after this 'great' sales.
They have the 30th Aniversary event on the 31st, we'll see if anything gets announced for Xbox (like FFXII HD)
