Puyo Puyo Tetris coming to Americas and Europe

does the us version have the japanese voices?
i don't think i will be able to play this game without the teddybear doctor saying "I LOVE TETURIS" everytime you get a tetris.

I'm really interested in this game and know you can get it now through Japanese eShop. Any reason I would need the English translations or use it something I can make my way through not knowing Japanese?

I played the demo last night with my wife and 2 friends and we had a blast. The analog on the Joycon is an absolute nightmare to use but fortunately you Can switch up the controls.

I'm excited for the NA release!
Heh I accidentally switched the controls once (and finally found out what that selection menu was) and good lord that almost screwed me, "oh god the controls are all wrong!"

...it actually turned out ok once I figured it out since it more or less matched TI graphing calculator Tetris controls I played with way way back. Dpad for controls on the right with up to rotate, down on the analog stick for hard drop. What screwed me up was up on analog for swapping pieces.

Is there a listing of the different control schemes or will I have to fumble through all of them to figure it out?

Everything is Japanese. There's translations of everything available but I'm waiting for the English release cause how much there is. If you need a quick fix the demo is pretty good. I mentioned on the last page, up to 4 player local or vs CPU multiplayer in normal and swap modes. It'll give you a decent idea of the amount of Japanese you'll have to deal with too.

Anyone else notice the Coming Soon price in the Switch eShop is now $39.99?

It's been $39.99 on Switch since the physical pre-orders went up no?

Oh, come on! I hope they don't step back from their first announced price to ensure digital/physical parity...

I want to play this, but I won't byte at that price. Maybe the japanese Version, if they'll update with english text then. But I just checked Amazon.jp and it's 45 Euro digital on there...

I wonder if Nintendo, GameStop, or some other entity basically told Sega "please keep the prices the same ok thanks" so they did
I read somewhere that that's a requirement Nintendo has, if a game is available in retail, then the e-shop price MUST be the same. Nintendo is trying to keep retailers (GameSpot) happily pushing Switch games. It's one of the reasons some games are digital-only, because some indies don't want to charge more.

Was it actually officially announced at that price or was it a place holder until it actually went live because i was never under the impression digital was going to be cheaper because it never is on consoles.

If you were able to pre-order last week or $30 digitally on the e-shop then it went up $10 this month i would get upset.

Is that true though? There have been retail releases of Wii U eshop games at higher prices than they were digitally i believe (although thats always i think been a retail release after digital)

It was.

Hard to know what's going on, so I hope someone is contacting Sega for an update.

I'm torn. Should I get this for Switch or PS4?

I have both consoles and I'll be purchasing it on the Switch.

Biggest reason is being portable. If there were differences between the 2, then I would think about it but they are identical, correct?

The demo sold me on the game but I didn't need a demo to tell me I need some Tetris in my life, lol.

I was very close to purchasing the game off the Japan eShop but decided to wait...just to give myself something to look forward to next month. Plus, I want it in English AND a physical copy.

Isaac/Zelda/Shovel Knight will keep me busy until then.

It's silly to expect digital versions of games to cost less than retail at launch.

But the issue is that physical Switch games cost more than their X1/PS4/PC counterparts due to manufacturing cost of the cartridges, and now that extra cost gets passed to digital versions, which does not compare favorably against the other platforms.

Here is the article from Eurogamer on why the physical and digital Switch games must have cost parity:

Wait so they're abandoning their promise that the digital version would be cheaper?

This is fucking bullshit.

The whole idea of digital being priced the same as physical is already stupid on other consoles, on the Switch it's goddamn ludicrous.

man I know vita is dead now but I would have sold my japanese copy if it come out on that too.

Not going to bother buying it again now

Damn, at $30 this was a day 1 buy for me. But $40 digital for this? Not so sure anymore.

Yeah, that's kind of how I feel. I already own the import on PS3 and PS4. Not sure I'd triple dip at $40. I had talked myself into buying it at $30 though so I could have it in English and on-the-go.

Not going to double dip if it's 40€ digital as well, I'm perfectly fine with my imported 3DS copy. (wanted to upgrade and stay portable)
I just can't support this bullshit.

40 is a tiny bit much when I'm looking at fast racing for 20 and blaster master for ten.

But when I compare it to Bomberman it looks like a steal. 😗

Hi guys! The price of of Puyo Puyo Tetris on the eShop will be $29.99. The Coming Soon price in the Switch eShop is incorrect and we're fixing it!

$32 physical (GCU) or $30 digital (pre-taxes on both). Hrmm... Digital sounds like the much smarter choice just to have Tetris ready to launch whenever. But I like building physical collections, especially early on.
