This is true, when Neoxon predicts someone will/won't be in a roster you should always go all in.
I mean, yeah, it's nice, don't get me wrong. But the somewhat cynical part of me makes me believe that they're making a point to give us so much MMX love as part of setting up future plans for the character and his franchise, and not just an outpouring of love (or "apology") to make people happy.

The bare minimum would have been to just have X (and Zero returning), with at least a few story beats/badass moments reserved for themselves in whatever plot is in place, and most of us MMX fans would have been happy. Even Project X Zone and its sequel were good for that much! But they seem to be doing a whole lot to help sell/reintroduce the character and his subseries, and I can't help but think that it's for a reason.

I mean the moment someone decided Sigma Tron would be the main antagonist X (and possibly Zero) almost have to have a bigger story focus, same with Tony Stark (and possibly Hank Pym) from the Marvel side.

That was an unofficial poll made by an unpaid moderator on Capcom Unity.
Marvel clearly didn't care about what the fans wanted that much (and they probably still don't considering the x-men being left out of the base roster lol). They mainly care about pushing the characters they want to push. During the period MVC3 came out, the mantle of Venom was passed onto Flash Thompson in the comics. Naturally, Marvel didn't want to give attention to the old and "outdated" Eddie Brock Venom most people remember the character as.

As for Ms. Marvel, let me put it this way. If I didn't just recently obtain this Star-Lord avatar (courtesy of Quick), I'd gladly avatar-bet for Kamala's inclusion in either the base roster or the 2017 Character Pass.

tldr: Her sales have dropped, a lot. Her TPB still sells (people online are fans) and always point to it, but she's nowhere near what she was.
That being said, lot of people push for her, especially online / here, so she wouldn't surprise me. She'd definitely mean no Dhalsim / Reed Richards, though, at least not for awhile.

Couldn't Super Skrull do the stretchy thing along with a lot more? Isn't that why he was picked for MVC3 or a rando FF4 member? I can totally see them picking him again when they bring in "fox" characters to fill that niche.

Yeah, her trades typically do better these days, but it's also the push that Marvel's giving her outside of the comics that's making me pretty damn confident. He was initially leaked by Polygon, but the fact that Hawkeye's Level 3 was altered should be a huge red flag.
I almost forgot to mention Dante, but I was mainly thinking of the Marvel side when I made that post.

Yup, I'd be very surprised if we ever got individual FF characters. MAYBE Sue Storm. But Skrull was a cool addition last go round. That said, I don't think Ms. Marvel's inclusion means we can't get a tweaked Skrull

I would bet that he's a go. I just think that it wouldn't be that controversial if he's not in it bc he's not top tier popularity imo (even though ik he's getting a sequel movie etc, I don't hear much chatter to have him in)

Normal hypers are done the same way as MvC3.
Easy hypers are just two buttons - I think they were Hard Punch and Hard Kick. They only do your level 1 hyper.
I honestly don't think that we'll get much in the name of characters who serve as spiritual successors to the Fox guys. For example, if Ms. Marvel plays like Super-Skrull, where would that leave Super-Skrull if Capcom's able to convince Marvel to add some Fox characters?
