Far Cry 5 Announced, more details coming soon

So again, can someone tell me where this Montana mumbojumbo is coming from?

-Ubisoft was filming something in Montana for Far Cry
-There were claims from Kotaku that they had heard modern day Montana
-An email tip to the Giant Bombcast back in December said that their friend had seen materials for the game and it was set in modern day Montana or an area based on that, and you play a sheriff fighting against militia groups that had taken over ranches

The Wild West rumor seems like it may have come from sites hearing about the filming in Montana and connecting it to a past Ubisoft survey about future settings that included Wild West as an option.

Tonally this sounds like such a departure from the goofiness of 3 and 4.

Definitely. I actually liked the trippy vibes those had. It drove in the exoticness of the locations. Definitely super bummed about this seemingly being true. Montana is so damn mundane as an environment compared to what I was expecting. Guess I can hope that they go back to exotic locations and cultures with FC6.

Is this the Ubi game set in the West? I really want to see how they change up the FC formula. Still haven't tried Primal, but I was feeling pretty burned out after Blood Dragon. I also still think FC2 will always be my favorite.

I wasn't very hyped from the wild west rumor since I was thinking it was gong to be a Call of Juarez the Cartel and that I hated that game while I loved the previous ones.

But the Montana setting interests me more.

Also, FarCry from two onward, is my favorite Ubi series, so I'm really looking forward to playing this game this year.

If FC5 is not a November release, then they better have AC Egypt for November.

I've enjoyed every numbered Far Cry game, love the series to bits. But if it's set in the american west that would be a real hard sell for me. I love GTA and Rockstar games but I couldn't enjoy RDR, the setting is such an active turn-off.

Hope this is good. I loved FC3 but I found FC4 to be too much of the same and the setting was pretty boring. If it really is the rumored Montana setting that could be interesting.

100% completed FC3 but bounced off FC4 pretty quickly. Not sure why, it seemed like a solid game...possibly because I burnt myself out on Far Cry after 3 and 4 basically was the same game almost but in a different setting.

Primal seemed like a fairly big departure for the series, but the setting did not really interest me. I hope they continue this trend of mixing things up a bit as they did with Primal though so we could be seeing something very different in FC5

Nice.

Hope it's a drastic change at least with the setting. 4 and primal setting was soooo fucking boring.

Either make it with heaps of tropical islands, or even a ww2 setting I'd love.

WW2 has always been what I wanted. Something like the MC being a pilot in the pacific that gets shot down over an uncharted island with some weird shit going down on it. That'd be really neat.

But modern Montana could be neat. Sounds like they're going for a more drastic version of the whole Bundy standoff in Oregon, which might be interesting if done right.

Looking forward to this.
Feel like they have been steadily making some nice QOL improvements with the series, if they can nail the atmosphere and story and start adding new mechanics im ready to go again.

Red, White and Blue. Like the USA and good old Police.

Really hope the whole modern day Montana thing is true. Would love to see some crazy Sovereign Citizen/White Supremacist shenanigans for the antagonists.
May as well add some alt-right folks into the mix.

here's hoping we finally get Far Cry 4, after Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Neon, Far Cry 3.5 and Far Cry 3.5: Primal
Finding out that 4 pretty much had almost the same guns was the final nail in the coffin in ever wanting to play it.

Primal...was overall...meh about playing that.

I applaud them for using a logo which reveals absolutely nothing about the game compared to the one which leaked earlier.
