Literally all information about your character is stored server-side. There is no technical reason cross-save could not happen between all three supported platforms. If I had to guess the I'd say the only reason it isn't is political.

By political you're referring to Sony not wanting to play nice with Microsoft? Yeah...that would make sense. I suppose Sony doesn't need to play nice right now.

It's a shame there's no way of really knowing how many people would take advantage of the cross-platform saves. I suspect Bungie/Activision has access to some if not all of the user data that would allow them to run a cost/benefit analysis?

Maybe they think it's just not worth doing?

yeah cross save would be a sneaky way to get me to buy it twice. Most of my PC gaming friends are also WoW/blizzard only folks, and I think it'd be a lot of fun to introduce them to Destiny raiding. Their FPS skills are questionable (based on Overwatch) but Destiny raid mechanics will be kid stuff for them.

DestinyGAF is really good and I had a lot of fun playing with them, so I'd rather not leave them behind even though I'm sure 99% will stay with PS4. Although their mindset towards raids was a little weird at first. I'm used to people looking up strategies ahead of time in MMO raids, but in this case it was the opposite, nobody wanted 'spoilers'. Still, made for a good moment when everyone saw Oryx come out for the first time.

I'm certain a large portion will be grabbing this on PC as opposed to any console now that its available there. And, again, If the rumors are true about cross-save something scummy is being pulled by either Sony or MS.

As another person mentioned there are multiple games on PC that seamlessly accomplish cross-save by doing the sensible thing and having a login system that isn't tied to the platform on which the game is being played (i.e. Hearthstone). It's not technically difficult in the slightest.

Playing on Xbox? Log in with your Bungie.net account. Cross-save achieved.
Playing on PS? Log in with your Bungie.net account. Cross-save achieved.

Not to be that guy, but the PS4 controller hurts my hands as well. I'd say the DS4 is a huge improvement over older models, especially when it comes to sticks, but still too small for me personally.

I'll be sticking with XBO, all my friends are there and it's my main console, simple as that. I love both systems, just lean more towards XBO for some reason.

Nope just a over 40 gamer who has been playing game and working with his hands his whole life and certain controllers just hurt to use. I do play more often on PlayStation using a Hori controller which helps but the triggers on that controller are a little funny.

How is the HORI controller overall? Worth it or better to invest the other expensive PS4 controllers like Razer/Nacon?

wow talk about console wars bullshit. Relax dude just because it'll run better on a Scorpio doesn't mean the end of the world.

Give it a rest already. I'm interested in what people expect from D2, not what warriors "believe".

Besides:

Which part? Or are you just shitting on a xbox thread?

Sony can promote all it wants but come November everyone will know all 3rd party games will look and run better on Scorpio.

Just imagine what it would look like if it was running on Scorpio!

Honestly I hope Msoft has some similar games upcoming like this
(Horizon Zero Dawn)

I could go on, but I just want to point out that I question your objectivity in this argument.

I REALLY look forward to tomorrows reveal and I TRULY hope that everyone enjoys Destiny 2 on their preferred platform(s).

Which part of that post was console wars bullshit? Telling ppl to relax and claiming you know an unreleased game( which predecessor ran the same on BOTH consoles) will run better on an unreleased console sounds way more warzy than the post you quoted.

But what do I know I'm just a 6'1 200+ pound guy with big hands who can somehow manage to use all controllers without talking down to others and claiming they don't have " manly" hands smh.

I feel bad for my PS4 friends but I told them if cheating is bad on PC version of Destiny 2 that I will double dip and grab it for PS4.

Hopefully both consoles will get 60 fps.

Pretty excited for tomorrow ^_^

Oh good lord, here we go.

Worst feature of the Scorpio so far?

The annoying fanboys that won't stop making every thread about the console that's not even out yet.

- 60fps (from multiple first hand sources)
- PS4 and PC Cross-Save (not Cross-Play), and Microsoft is holding back the Cross Save for XBox
- Optimized for PS4 Pro, the next PS4, and Scorpio
- More exclusive PS4 content, again. Ugh.

Edited for the sake of clarification: The folks who told me these things might be wrong, but I'm sure the game runs at 60.

I love it's feel and the sticks are nice and tight and all the buttons are great with the only minor exception being the L2 R2 are a little sensitive how you press them since they are digital not analog. But other than that it's made playing shooters great for me on PlayStation. I say it that way because it works in PS3 and PS4! There is a selector switch.

Except how do PS4-exclusive weapons, shaders, sparrows, gear etc translate to another platform?

Not buying this.

Small hurdle to get past, IMO.

And if Bungie really does want this game to be fucking huge and somewhat revolutionary, they'd dedicate resources to implement cross-save properly.

I KNEW I smelled console warz coming off that post. Thanks for doing the leg work.

That's my worry about the PC version. Seems a game like this would be rife with cheating?

I can't wait for tomorrow. I'm open to see what they have to offer up. However, I'm interested to see UI improvements and I want to see how the environments function -- I want to know if they're like the leak from months back stating social spaces would be worked into larger patrol environments.

My PS4 PRO buyer's remorse is rising.. but if the trade in program is on point bring it on!

There is about 0% chance Destiny 2 wouldn't be 60fps.

How many other Bungie games have been 60fps?

I wouldn't say there is a 0% chance.

It'll be interesting how the PC games existence will affect weapon upgrades. How will the various aim improvement abilities work on PC? Simply adjust hitbox size vs affect aim assist strength and pattern?

The wired PS4 HORI controller is amazing. It's my preferred PS4 controller for FPS. The triggers are perfect. I'd highly recommend it, but keep in mind it is missing some features like the light bar and integrated speakers.

Why would you have any buyers remorse the Pro is a fantastic machine. I love mine and it's still gonna be the best place to play any and all Sony games. Multi platform games are always gonna be case by case.
For example Neir I wanted to buy it on PC but it seems like playing it in the Pro is the way to go from what my son was telling me.

The more I think about it, the more possibilities I come up with for the "next PS4" (if it even exists) to be something other than a more powerful system. It could be one focused on media playback, it could be digital only with a fast HDD that devs can optimize specifically for. I'm not going to worry about it until we have more info. I kind of overreacted myself last night to that part. I just want to focus on Destiny for now and all of those details sound great if accurate.

For people not familiar with Destiny, everything is saved in their servers so cross-saves should not be that difficult for them to implement.

Actually, an interesting bit of the cross save across platforms is that it implies their own dedicated Destiny Bungie account.

Before it was tied to Sony or Microsoft's accounts. Which would add more reasons why Destiny 2 has no carry overs from Destiny 1 accounts.

Can this at least mean I can give my Guardian an actual name and not a gamertag?

Are your bottom triggers not a little sensitive to the way you press them? I have this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0157QM7S4/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Yes, this is what I have too but in black. I love the digital buttons. I've had too many R2s on DS4s get squishy or loose after some hours with Destiny (and using the MIDA Multi Tool :p).

I like that they're sensitive. Really nice for semi-auto weapons. My trigger finger never got fatigued.

Really... Bungie is developing this for PS4/XBONE not the PRO/SCORPIO. Yes their will be some advantages to say the least but remember this game will still need to run on the older consoles.

Look at what happen with Vanilla Destiny when bungie had to focus resources on the 360/PS3.

yuppp same situation pretty much, i stopped playing with destiny gaf prior to the first expansion because i simply did all there was to do and had all of the items in the game on all 3 classes, but it was damn fun and i feel like i owe it to my passed raid leader and friend from back then to really dig into this game.

was a huge backer of destiny gaf and i plan to be in this game.

Yeah the only thing I'm worried about as well. Hopefully Bungie will know what to do and have a way to deal with them. Hardware ban or something idk. Only thing bad about pc gaming is the amount of cheaters lol

Yeah with my right hand being kinda F'ed I use the turbo button with R2 in crucible when using non auto fire primaries. Though I've been killed cuz I left it on when trying to fire a fusion rifle. Voop voop voop no fire dead! Oops

Oh.... 2 days until a gameplay video..not the actual game

Yeah game doesn't release until September. It's a presser followed by hands-on with a build of the game. A bunch of youtubers and twitch streamers and press are invited to play and share it.

Pro and Scorpio are much closer to PS4 / X1 than those last two compared to the PS3 and X360. If Bungie made a truly scalable engine there is little reason why it couldn't be 60 fps now.
