Amazon UK: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is 2017's best selling game in just 2 days

Nah, played through a good chunk of it again last year. Still fun and holds up. I had a better time with it than most current gen platformers I've played.

Doesn't make sense, if no one wants to play old games why does Sony bother selling PS1 games on PSN. Why does Sony bother adding trophy support and other features to PS2 games on PS4. There's clearly a demand out there for them to be doing this.

One thing I never understand.....Crash Salt, or just salty tha people like a game or a game does well in general. People really do want to watch the world burn.

Seems pretty sold out in the north of England at least. Retailer expecting new stock mid week.

I haven't seen anything like this with a game release since Red Dead Redemption.

I know the ps1 as well as crash were a gigantic deal in the UK so this is probably equivolent to a mario launch for most people over there

Sounds like demand was underestimated by the publisher.

It was. Based on Activision's Week1 estimates, hmv bought enough stock (taking in to account our minimal market share admittedly) to last that period but had sold through 2/3's of it by Friday afternoon. Can't imagine there was any left by Saturday lunch time.

Fantastic news. I expect very strong sales in the US as well.

Hopefully this performance will lead to CTR and Spyro getting good remasters

Hopefully this leads to us getting a proper new Crash game.

Even if it does it won't be developed by same people that created this trilogy in the first place (I assume that some of them are still in ND).

Just because it has the Crash name won't mean it will be good, and also I doubt that the demand will be as high as this remake.

People were excited for this one because it's a remake of a trilogy that most of us hold in high esteem. The base game was done, creating something new is a completely different situation.

Sony had their chance while it was shelved. How well this game is selling solidifies that Activision will not be giving it up any time soon.

Or maybe it was a football transfer-esque, 'loan with option to buy at fixed price' deal.

Yeah, I think not.

No shit, doesn't mean it will be bad either.

Anecdotal NA story but my fiancee surprised me with the game on Friday. Best Buy was sold out and she got one of the last copies at Walmart where two other people were buying it as well.

I hope this is a huge success for them. It would be well deserved.

The problem with creating a new Crash is that he made his mark as a 2D3D platformer where Spyro marked up the 3D area. You could do a 3D Crash but it wouldnt really be a Crash game and you can get away with 2D3D these days for AAA games.

Sure. My point is that it won't be made by the same developers that made the franchise popular in the first place.

There were a lot of crash games after the ND ones that weren't particularly great. It was easy to get hyped for this remake because we knew the original games were good.

Twinsanity was a fantastic Crash game and it was 3D.

New game has to be good and marketed well and it will sell and be loved.

Crash thirst was real.

Was in gamestop twice since friday and both times I saw at least 3 people each time buy it.

Very curious what the total sales are gonna be. Seems like the biggest danger is maybe Activision might have undershipped in some spots.

Not surprising, considering how EU PSN classics rankings always turn out.
Crash was always regularly in the top on U.S. PSN as well until they lumped PS2 on PS4 into the mix(which they keep separate in EU). Naturally as most people have moved on from their PS3s.

I wish Sony or someone would get Crash from Activision, not gonna happen but a man can dream.

They should've tried before the game became the success anyone except Sony execs could apparently foresee.

They had to convince Activision that Crash was dead and try to get the IP then, not give them the rights to the good games of the franchise and revive the character lol. They lost it forever now.

Probably their most stupid decision since Demon's Souls. But it's Sony, what do you expect.

It's good for the rest of us though that will probably be able to play it at 60fps. Thanks Shu.

That list looks so bullshit, i don't believe it for a second.

The Crash hype died long ago, no way are you gonna tell me is selling better tan AAA games.

And I'd say the game is unavailable in most spots, not because it is selling amazingly, but because of undershipment.

Not believing until I see numbers.

No one under ships (unless you cannot make enough - i.e hardware), they would have made as many as they thought they would have sold within the first few weeks (normally you try to ship sold and some additional stock for a period after)..

So basically if they have sold what they have shipped thats good, regardless of some negative spin.

Considering how they are dominating the competition, and most of their decisions have been smart, they clearly are doing things right. Either way you can't blame Sony or any pub to not have faith in a platformer in todays climate.

I missed out on Crash as a kid, had no idea he was so popular here. My brothers and I were a spyro family.

So Spyro trilogy remake next please?

How do you know they didnt try? Perhaps Activision said no. Speculation is all well and good, but calling Sony stupid for something you have no information on, is.... well silly.

So glad this collection is doing well. I hope we get some more 3D platformers now. Have to restrain myself from getting this because I have too many other games on the pile, but I want to replay all 3 at some point. Well... could be that I start at 3 and work my way back to the hard as nails original :p

We don't even know what their deal was so no point in assuming Sony just foolishly did anything. I find it hard to believe a company that has been teasing Crash since the 2013 unveiling of PS4 with Crash music and hints in trailers(not to mention Crash in Uncharted and Uncharted references in this trilogy) which ALSO said they were personally working with Activision would just be helping convince them to make a game with no actual contractual deal between the two.

Where are all the people who where saying that it will flop and it's a nostalgy based vocal minority that actually wanted this to happen?

This is like a real hardcore 3d platformer too. Your hands will sweat.

Turns out the world going to shit just makes people want to feel like it's 1996 again.

Absolutely incredible. The fact that it has already surpassed a superb game like Horizon, is hard to believe. I am very anxious to see hard sales numbers on Crash, and see how it impacts hardware sales as well.

Edit: Currently #51 in USA 2017 chart. Let's see how that climbs..

It's likely that low on the US chart because it was sold out multiple times leading up to its launch. It only came back in stock just a few days before it launched.

Brits eat jellied eels. 🍽

LOL never seen anyone eat jellied eels in the north west of England in my life.

Remaking Jak(the character) to look appealing without upsetting original purists would be quite the challenge.

The problem with the Jak trilogy is that the first game is radically different in terms of style compared to Jak 2 and 3 and whoever remakes them will have to deal with that in some way.

If they remake Jak & Daxter like Jak 2/3 then they need completely redesign the game from ground up.

If they remake Jak & Daxter like the original release then it plays like a game from a completely different franchise.

I expect a new Sly game.

But made by whom?!

I don't think Crash's sales will have an effect on a potential Sly 5 game, Sly 4 and the Ratchet and Clank remake would probably give a greater indication of a potential for another game.

Potential developer of the title would almost certainly be Sanzaru since they did a good job with Sly 4.

That's good, wonder if it will outsell Odyssey and Forces
Odyssey? This year maybe, LTD likely not. I suppose a lot depends how much stock Nintendo has for the holidays.

Forces? I'd wager Crash sells more than Mania and Forces combined.

edit: also who knows when if ever Crash goes multiplat and how it does on those platforms.

But do people really want a "me too" platformer that wasn't even good in 2017?

That's the important question here.

If you're talking about Spyro, it's a massive open-world 3D platformer in the Mario 64 vein and an amazing one, so you have no idea what you're talking about. It expands on the Mario 64 formula rather than being a copycat, and it's helped by one of gaming's best soundtracks too.

If you're talking about Sly, it is more of a stealth and action-adventure based game, so you have no idea what you're talking about.

Uh yes they do. Sony owns CTR but they dont own Crash. Its a weird thing but Activision is required to be on board for it.

Unless Activision doesn't like money, CTR is happening for sure. Hopefully it is treated as well as this trilogy. I've only beaten Crash 1 and will try to get the Platinum before going to Crash 2, it's gonna be tough.

Very optimistic about CTR chances now.

Great results for Activision. Sony should be very pleased too, since it's likely that the game has introduced new audience into its ecosystem.
