Ok just got home and listened. It's smooth as fuck, although the melody doesn't has the same punch as in the original.

But is damn good.

It's well composed and sounds excellent with those nineties-era Sonic vibes, but it's too slow taking the energy out of the original track.

Hope Act 2's rendition is much faster and packs more punch. Odds are it will be.

Wooooow. If that's what he did for Act 1, what the hell he's got in store for Act 2?!

Dammit, Ninty, why can't I preload this sucker?!

This is pretty funky even though the eeeehhh will be missed.

Green Hill Act 2 when? I don't want to wait 2 more weeks! D:

It better be the Bad Future version

No, it makes sense. Go listen to all the Past renditions of Sonic CD and compare them to their Present mixes. All the Past tracks have a slower, somewhat mellow melody to them because those stages are meant to depict an older, less developed period.

It better be the Bad Future version

It better be the
US
Good Future version.

If there's any doubt that Falk did the sound arrangement for this game, this track squashes it. It sits perfectly like the tracks Falk composed in his Sonic Before/After the Sequel soundtracks (which are phenomenal, go listen to them!).

Really love the overhauled composition here. The jazz / R&B influences make the track.

I hope act 2 is a remix of this.

This is the only reason I'm not completely down on the track. The transition into act 2 is going to be insane.

it's all Tee, with Falk doing mixing/mastering

besides the secret Richard Jacques x Takenobu Mitsuyoshi credits theme that doesn't exist

So are we getting the Metal Sonic race in this too? I'd kill for the Chaotix Metal Sonic sprite zooming close to the camera and stuff.

Your lack of TJ Davis... disturbs me...
vocals aren't necessary but her voice work on Sonic R's You're My Number One's too good to not be mentioned

Metal Sonic's going to happen if Sonic 2's Death Egg Robot got in, retcon Sonic 4 even further for all I care by having the thing revitalized for a Sonic CD zone boss

Honestly I really don't want to see Metal Sonic again. I'm a bit bored of him.

Since this game's pretending to come out after Sonic 3K, I think it'd be cool to get a new robo-Sonic, since Metal Sonic didn't become the standard one until later

With Green Hill having the Death Egg Robot and Chemical Plant having
some Mean Bean Machine weirdness,
it's anyone's guess what the boss of Stardust Speedway could be

This OST is going to be so fucking incredible and I'm legit shook they nailed the late 80s/early 90s New Jack Swing vibe to this extent. I can only imagine what Act 2 will be like. I hope they incorporate the first 10 or so seconds of the intro from the Bad Future rendition to kick shit off. Always loved the sirens, vocals and instruments in that bit.

Oh, that 6 first seconds aren't from the track but for the canned sound loops that were going to be used to loop the tracks. The cool stuff is that it was played by the console and not the CD track.

The 2011 CD remake used some of those loops but weirdly not on all the tracks. Also this rip doesn't use it for looping for some reason :/

I always wondered why Taxman didn't use the loop in all the tracks...

Wait, what!? I need a source on that Chemical Plant boss.

I thought this one was a swing and a miss tbh. Not nearly enough energy. Although I suspect that Act 2 is going to contrast it on that point.

Man, Stardust Speedway was the one level in Sonic CD that had a dope rendition for every version (past/present/future, JP or US).

I don't know if this has already been posted but this is a 16 bit remix of Mirage Saloon, made by the composer Tee Lopes himself:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z-JhQmoFWQ

He's been hinting in the comments that a 16 bit sound mode for Sonic Mania might be possible.

edit: composer, not composter.

Ahhh I hope so, this would be an amazing feature.

Also totally on board with the SS music; it sounds incredible. I don't want rearrangements of existing themes.

This song is great. Going to be kind of moody and fun to explore to.

Gives me vibes of that jungle level in Saturn 3D Blast.

I read this wrong and thought you were only talking about the JPN soundtrack. I was about to fire off Quartz Quadrant Zone too. :lol
