Getting uneasy about all this storage talk.

If games start requiring multiple GB on internal regardless of your SD card, we're gonna be screwed pretty soon. Not touching this until the storage situation is clarified.

So you need 6 GB available on the internal memory in addition to the 22 GBs on the SD card? I hope future games on Switch don't do that, since then it wouldn't matter how large your SD card is you would always be limited by the 25 GBs of usable internal storage.

Yeah that's pretty bad, wonder the reasons.

For Europe too? Didn't see it in the upcoming section in the eshop :/

Yeah, its not in the eShop yet for US either.

Nintendo UK says the download will be available on 9/15, physical on 10/17.

The pic is from Nintendo France but the UK page says the same. Funny how they change between date formats for digital and physical.

Buy points from amazon.jp

Or buy the game code.

plug that into JP eshop.

Well, yeah that was easier than I thought. Got my eShop points instantly whereas buying Splatoon and MK8D took forever and Arms got declined. Nice. Taking my Switch home to download the rest so I can get started when I get off work!

Please let us know once you know what the deal is with storage. SD Card usage I can handle, but if it uses 6GB of internal, that's going to be a problem for this and other games in the future.

From what i understand, they are saying that the download size is 22GB, but it will occupy around 28GB, that's why they are saying that you'll need these additional 6GB in main memory, as far as i know, when you use a SD card it's recognized as the main memory of the system (it's different from internal memory).

So are we thinking 6 GB is enough for the base game, but there is an additional 22 GB for high res textures? Battlefield 4 did that IIRC.

I think 22.9 gb is the base game, the 6 gb or more is what you need for saves

That footage on Nintendo direct looked pretty bad compared to the footage from pax. I seriously was hoping for a demo before dipping my toes

Your statement makes no sense at all, Pax footage were people playing the game on Switch units, so how can some video from the direct look worst? It could be compressed video, old build who knows where Nintendo got that footage from.

6GB for saves? Come on, main memory = wherever you have the game installed. If you have an SD Card, that's your main memory.

its probably the stupid reserved memory bullshit......they do 50GB on the consoles and an extra 4GB of reserved memory that doesn't even include your save. It's supposed to help loading times, but 2K has the worst out of any sports game.

My download is sitting at 0% but, as of right now, storage management is showing 22.9GB allocated for 2K18 on my SD card and "---" on the main system memory.

Looking forward to your screenshots. :)

I'll be back home around 5:30 cst so I'd be happy to take some screens if there's not a bunch out by that point.

Japanese eshop, I think.

Also this is correct.

I bought eShop money codes from amazon.jp and bought on the Japanese eShop. It says it has English in the product details.

can we use paypal on the jap eshop?

Does it download in english?

You need to have Paypal for that region in order to use it.

It specifies English on the Japanese eshop page. It's probably the exact same version. I have bought stuff off the Japanese eshop and if it specifies English it will have it.

Are there any comparison videos out for this version?

I think the first bit of direct feed footage we saw of the Switch version was yesterday.

yes, I'm interested if you need an Internet connection to do anything on the switch with mycareer......would be amazing if you don't need it to have a myplayer AND play online in the park when you want to.

I hear that the saves of previous versions are very large, so I dunno. The problem is that the way it's worded is ambiguous. Is that wording a translation of what's in the Japanese eShop? That would explain it. Main memory to me says internal. You only have internal and SD card. Of the two, main memory would have to mean internal.

Hopefully this will be cleared up soon. I hope you're right.

Then thats on Nintendo for not allowing us to move saves to SD cards, has nothing to do with 2K, most game saves dont get that big like that anyways

Agreed.

Let's not forget, Minecraft uses 2gb internal. I know it's not the same, and if 2K really can use up to 6gb, that's some pretty shoddy work.

New footage available from someone with the game, I love what I see: https://youtu.be/9Mlmx6OuILs

He changes the camera settings after few seconds and I wondered what's the favorite way to play NBA2K: with an horizontal or vertical view?

Switch version looks surprisingly great! It's grainy off-screen footage, but from what can be seen it looks to fall pretty closely behind the OG PS4 and XBOXONE versions. Very impressive for what is essentially a handheld/console hybrid.
