Lots of better shows starting in Fall, can't get hung up over a show that has gone full LOST. :(
You should have faith in BONES, they will eventually.... LOL. I can't finish that sentence, faith in BONES haha.

Saying that, I kinda liked this episode. I have learnt to turn my brain off and imbrace the crazy!

What're the chances of this show getting a second series? Not that I really want it to, because I don't want to see them stretch it out any longer, but it kind of feels like it needs at least another ~13 episodes to finish at this point.

Episode 21

Yeah, don't really care to get worked up over the show anymore. It was less painful than I anticipated, and I guess there might be some sweet mecha action next week. I'm just kinda apathetically sitting back for the rest of the ride now.

This year has been pretty disappointing with the sequels. First ME3 and now this. What the fuck are they doing with this show? How in the hell do you fuck this up? It showed some promise too.

So I want to hear what the impressions are for 21.

I know what my issues are with the episode and the series I guess but I want more opinions on this.

I hadn't watched this beside the Pilot, looking at the recent posts I guess it didn't turn out to be as good as it looked at the beginning :/?

Well, for me, we are near the end of the series and yet nothing seems to be falling in place. I don't care about the characters and their motivations seem to be muddled. Things just happen for no reason. For this episode specifically, I never really cared for Elena's character, but her being like Ao in being displaced in both time and space made her somewhat interesting. Now she's just displaced in time and just happened to take a detour through Ao's world. And now they have introduced that new character whose name I don't even know (Ao caught a bus with him) and I'm just sitting here thinking: "We are at the end of the series and you are introducing new characters? And the whole Truth business. Come the fuck on, Bones. What happened to you?

I tried watching this but it was so far beyond the level of sci-fi mecha the original series was that it started to almost feel like a fan fic. And a bad one at that.

There's no getting around that the change in tone/quality is jarring.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEsoOXXdnOA <-- Its kinda sad, listening to something like this and associating it with moments from the original. Nothing so far has come close to matching the tone.

The story is just so far out there..... I mean...... yeah there were special people in the original series but they were at least mortal. These new characters are out there flying around, blowing people up like Frieza on a happy day.

Politics also seem to be played down to a minimum.

The story is what it is...Im more let down in the complete absence of quality worldbuilding, which imo was one of the things that seperated E7 from the pack along with its characters. The gradual building of a fictional world, putting together pieces of the puzzle here and there, presenting a sense of convincing history for not only the cast but for the world itself.

I don't feel the conviction, integrity, or emotional and creative investment from the staff in AO like I did in the original. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, I could say that for the vast majority of other shows Ive seen since, but its much worse here considering its a direct sequel.

...Yeah, after episode 21, I've got nothing. I even tried to think up another sentence to add to this post but just came up with disappointment.

I stopped watching a while ago - don't think I got past episode 10. Is it that bad? Not sure if I should catch up

Same here. Was enjoying but stopped. Can't remember why, but I planned on picking it up again once it was finished and marathoning the episodes. Doesn't seem like a good idea going by everyone's post.

I am still enjoying and looking forward to the next episode. At the end we are getting this awesome plot twist which isn't a real plot twist because a plot twist changes the story suddenly, so I am not imagining that the plot twist won't be a plot twist because the plot twist will be a satisfying ending. Confused? I am kinda?

The only reason to watch E7AO is for Ao. The reason because he wants to go back. But now I feel that he is not going back because in the last episode
Renton is going to tell him that his friends cannot come with him to their world, so he has to decide between his parents and his friends.

About the new character. He's just their to get us hyped for
Renton. At least he told Ao that the maker of the new board wants him to test new stuff. And I think the maker is Renton. Or I hope.

Yeah I can totally see this happening.

original Eureka Seven: coming of age story riddled with references and homages to surf culture, old movies, music and artists.

Eureka Seven AO: a mess with absolutely no context outside of referencing the worst parts of a twisted, bad version of the original story

"We need to go to the Hacienda. Where it all began"

E7 rose above simple reference animu tier and pretty much became musical bible tier. They ran through pretty much the entire history of Joy Division and New Order through the series, that is awesome.

Ao's episode titles have been pretty great, and getting Koji Nakamura to do the music was totally inspired, but the show lacks the original's depth and roots in musical culture.

Okay, now it's actually somewhat confirmed that the final two episodes will broadcast "sometime in November". There are no solid dates yet, but the news will be posted on the official site once they have secured a date.

thats exactly it, and people that prefer it over the original should be chastised!

Well it's better than February.

That good part was only the first third of the original. The rest of it fits in with your description of AO, although that doesn't seem to have any real redeeming features.

What awful news to receive at the end of a decent weekend. I hope the last episode this season doesnt end on some gripping cliffhanger :/

Was last week's episode the last one (for now)? I thought there was another one today but it doesn't look like it's being broadcast on TBS or MBS.

Ep22 airs in less than 4 hours on MBS. It airs tomorrow on TBS. That's the last one until November.

Well, Itano Circus is more of a general term nowadays, since those kind of sequences have sort of become his legacy. Yasushi Muraki did some amazing work on that show though, no doubt.

Itano's legacy now is directing crazy and somewhat ugly CG stuff like Blassreiter and Asura's Wrath, sorry. Muraki is the general circus animator these days. Itano's time as a famed 2D animator is long gone.

I'm not claiming Itano is still the go-to animator these days, nor that he was even the best one in his field of specialization. Nevertheless, he was the one who popularized those sort of cuts. His legacy (what he will be remembered for) is for Muraki to inherit. What he does nowadays is moot.

I'm just making fun of Itano, because someone has to. :p

Hurr, didn't saw it was friday for TBS. And durr for not finding it on MBS.

I finally got a TV, so I wanted to watch it, but I don't have MBS. I guess I'll just wait until tomorrow or something.

Yeah, MBS is only for the Kansai region. TBS is the equivalent for the Kantou region.

Episode 22 (END?)

Terrible. Awful. Disrespectful. Insulting. Lame. Dumb. Pitiful. There are so many ways to describe this episode, but ultimately all those descriptions can be labeled on the show in general. It is clear now that there was always a plan for E7AO. It was just an awful plan, written in a way which would never be satisfying, and going in directions which served no purpose.

- Every single major character development in the show is pointless

- Every single subplot in the show leads to a dead end which gets negated

- Every single faction in the show is inconsequential

- Every single threat in the show does not build up to anything

- Nothing the characters have learned in 22 episodes mattered in the end

- There is no worthy foe in the entire series

- Nothing in the original Eureka Seven series really matters

- Nothing in Eureka Seven AO really matters

- The entire show was just an excuse to try and milk something out of old fans while attracting a new audience with new characters

- In the end the show never intended to satisfy the old fans nor the new audiences

It's sad, because this episode has some of the best mecha action since ep14 probably, but it's so hard to care because at this point it feels like a few capable animators just furiously jerking off onto their canvas hoping that the cum will cover up the disgraceful piece of work under it. But as their spent seed slowly drips off the canvas, their left standing there with their pants down, holding their limp dick, and their disgrace and shame is visible both on the canvas and on their face.

Fuck this show, and fuck everyone who wasted their time working on it.
